St. Louis Cardinals announcement
The New York Mets have claimed RHP Roel Ramírez off waivers.
Our 40-player roster currently stands at 39.

It was not disclosed previously that Ramirez had been placed on outright waivers, but it is clear the Cardinals wanted to clear a 40-man roster spot. For what use remains to be seen, but it is worth noting just 10 days remain until the trade deadline.
Because Ramirez had previously been outrighted by the Cardinals last summer, had he not been claimed, he could have elected free agency, anyway.
The 26-year-old was up and down with St. Louis once since being restored to the 40-man roster on June 28. Though successful at Triple-A, Ramirez could not replicate that with St. Louis. He was returned to Memphis on July 4 and remained there since after allowing three runs in 1/3 innings with the Cardinals. His MLB career total is nine earned runs yielded in one inning total for an ERA of 81.00.
Ramirez originally joined the Cardinals on July 31, 2018 as part of the Tommy Pham trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
