Selected St. Louis Cardinals-provided stats from the organization’s minor league spring training Camp Day game Between the Memphis Redbirds and Springfield Cardinals on Thursday, March 23. Our Player of the Day is catcher Nick Raposo, who singled, tripled, scored a run and plated two.
On Thursday, March 23, the St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguers had diverse plans on a Camp Day. Memphis and Springfield played each other on Field 2 of the George Kissell Quad at the Roger Dean Stadium complex in Jupiter. The Redbirds prevailed by a 6-3 score. Peoria and Palm Beach players held a series of workouts.
The Cardinals are labeling their teams “Working Groups”, which is an important reminder that these rosters are written in pencil and change daily. Over a dozen players are yet to be sent down from big-league camp over the next week.

Notes: Catcher Alvarez was selected from Houston in the Minor League Phase of the Rule 5 Draft on December 7, 2022.
The 22-year-old first signed in 2017 and played at four levels in 2022. The right-handed hitter played roughly a month of games each at Low-A, High-A and Double-A and logged one game at Triple-A. He slashed .279/.354/.379/.733 and plated 36 runners in 71 games.
TCN’s Thursday Player of the Day
In a day during which the offense fared better than the hitting, Memphis catcher Nick Raposo was the only player with multiple hits and multiple RBI, two each.
The 24-year-old, who had been a non-roster invitee to St. Louis’ camp, singled, tripled, scored a run and drove in two on Thursday.
In 2022, the non-drafted free agent signing in 2020 slashed a respectable .275/.345/.461/.806 in 229 plate appearances in 59 games, all with Springfield.
Next games
On Friday, March 23, the Cardinals will face the Nationals. On the George Kissell Fields of the Jupiter complex, Peoria and Palm Beach will face their Washington counterparts while Memphis and Springfield travel to West Palm (also where St. Louis plays that evening). Game time is 1:00 p.m. Eastern.
