Selected St. Louis Cardinals-provided stats from the organization’s minor league spring training games played against the New York Mets on Sunday, March 19. Our Player of the Day is center fielder Victor Scott, who doubled three times, stole a base and scored twice for Memphis.
On Sunday, March 19, the St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguers faced their New York Mets counterparts. The Triple-A and Double-A games were scheduled in Port St. Lucie and the two Class-A games held on the George Kissell Quad in Jupiter.
The Cardinals squads won two of four games and tied another. The pitching yielded just 10 runs total, while the St. Louis offenses were inconsistent. The lowest three levels plated just five runs in aggregate, while the Triple-A club scored 11.
Remember that at this phase of camp, the Cardinals are labeling their teams “Working Groups”, which is an important reminder that these rosters are written in pencil and change daily. About two dozen players are yet to be sent down from big-league camp over the next 10 days or so.

Notes: Komar, 23, was selected from San Diego in the Minor League Phase of the Rule 5 Draft, held on December 7, 2022. The right-hander was the Padres’ 13th round draft pick in 2019 from Madison Area Technical College (Wisconsin).
Komar spent about half of each of the last two seasons at High-A and Double-A, respectively. At the lower level, he logged a 3.67 ERA, but in the Texas League for San Antonio, his two-year ERA is 5.63.
After relieving for much of his career, Komar moved to the rotation at Double-A in 2022. With San Antonio last season, his strikeout rate was an unexciting 6.54 per nine and walk rate was 3.63. In his three seasons played, Komar has never been on the injured list.

Notes: Romeri, 21, is The Cardinal Nation’s 35th-ranked prospect. Among the outfielder’s 2022 accomplishments was consensus July Player of the Month honors, received for his work at Palm Beach as he was promoted to Peoria. He will likely return to High-A to open 2023.

TCN’s Sunday Player of the Day
On Sunday, Memphis center fielder Victor Scott stroked three doubles, stole a bag and scored twice in his four at-bats.
When included in big-league games this spring, the 22-year-old has appeared in four games, and in seven plate appearances, singled, drew three walks, scored twice, drove in one and fanned twice.
Scott is with St. Louis for their 1:00 p.m. game Monday, as a reserve. He was the organization’s fifth round selection in 2022 from the University of West Virginia and played his initial games with Low-A Palm Beach. Scott is The Cardinal Nation’s 29th ranked prospect for 2023.
Next games
Monday, March 20 will be another Camp Day, during which the Cardinals face each other – Triple-A vs. Double-A and the two Class-A teams to play, as well. All games will be held on the George Kissell Quad in Jupiter. Game time is 1:00 p.m., but always watch the weather.
