The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-1 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield 1B Matt Lloyd, was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Other standouts include Noah Mendlinger, Dakota Harris, Jose Davila, and J.J. Wetherholt.

Memphis vs. Omaha (postponed)
Wednesday’s Triple-A game at AutoZone Park was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be played as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, September 5.
Thursday’s games: vs. Omaha, Michael McGreevy RHP (7-8, 4.11) vs. Tyson Guerrero LHP (0-0, 5.79) 5:05 CT (game one); RH Sem Robberse (5-4, 4.65) vs. TBD (game two).
The Double-A Cardinals pounded the Naturals to a 10-5 victory at Hammons Field on Wednesday. Tink Hence started for Springfield. The top prospect right-hander pitched four innings, gave up two runs on three hits, fanned eight and walked one.
Zane Mills relieved Hence and surrendered three runs in three innings. Mills still received the win. Edwin Nuñez tossed the final two scoreless innings.
Springfield opened scoring in the second with a three-run home run by Dakota Harris. NW Arkansas answered in the top of the third to cut the lead to 3-2.

In the home third the Cardinals widened the lead to 6-2. Nathan Church and R.J. Yeager singled. Matt Lloyd followed with a three-run home run to right center field.

Springfield added on with a three-run fifth. Yeager singled and Leonardo Bernal doubled. Yeager came home on a passed ball. Jeremy Rivas walked and stole second base. Noah Mendlinger plated Bernal and Rivas on a single.
The Naturals plated three runs in the top of seventh to shrink the lead to 9-5. The Cardinals made it 10-5 in the home seventh as Lloyd doubled and later came home on a single by Mendlinger.
Springfield scored 10 runs on 11 hits. Lloyd was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Mendlinger was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Yeager was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Church was 2-for-3. Harris drove in three.
Rivas stole his 25th base of the season.
Springfield is 74-54 on the season, 37-22 in the second half. Springfield remains in first place in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: vs. NW Arkansas, Alex Cornwell LHP (7-2, 4.95) vs. Steven Zobac RHP (6-2, 2.78) 6:35 CT.
The High-A Chiefs were edged by the Captains in a 2-1 contest at Dozer Park on Wednesday. The loss officially eliminated Peoria from the Midwest League West playoff race.
Inohan Paniagua was on the bump for Peoria. The right-hander pitched five innings, gave up two runs on five hits, fanned six and walked three. Paniagua took the loss, his ninth of the season.
Benjamin Arias relieved Paniagua and threw three scoreless innings on two hits, no walks and four strikeouts. Hunter Hayes tossed a scoreless ninth.
Lake County went up 1-0 in the second inning and added a run in the fifth to lead 2-0.
Peoria was held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when they cut the lead to 2-1. Won-Bin Cho tripled and came home on a ground out by Alex Iadisernia.
Peoria scored one run on six hits. Brayden Jobert was 2-for-4.
Brody Moore stole his 28th base of the season.
Peoria is 57-70 on the season, 31-31 in the second half. Peoria is in third place in the Midwest League West, five games behind Wisconsin. Quad Cities clinched the second half playoff berth.
Thursday’s game: vs. Lake County, Hancel Rincon RHP (8-7, 3.77) 6:35 CT.
The Class-A Cardinals defeated the Hammerheads by a 6-3 score on Wednesday. Jose Davila took the mound for Palm Beach. The right-hander pitched five scoreless one-hit innings, fanned six and walked one to earn the win.
Henry Gomez relieved Davila and surrendered three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Nolan Sparks tossed the final 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Beach Birds took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Jose Suarez singled and stole second base. Ian Petrutz singled to plate Suarez.
Palm Beach added four runs in the fifth to increase the lead to 5-0. Ryan Campos hit a ground-rule double. Ross Friedrick drew a walk. Bryce Madron singled. J.J. Wetherholt cleared the bases with a double. Suarez plated Wetherholt on a double.
Jupiter partially came back with three runs in the seventh to cut the lead to 5-3. The Cardinals made it 6-3 in the ninth. Campos doubled and scored on a single by Jon Jon Gazdar.
Palm Beach scored six runs on 10 hits. Suarez was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gazdar was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Campos was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Wetherholt had three RBI.
Suarez stole his fourth base of the season. Gazdar swiped his second bag and was also caught stealing.
Palm Beach is 79-47 on the season, 42-18 in the second half. They remain in first place in the FSL East, having clinched the second half title.
Thursday’s game: at Jupiter, RH Chen-Wei Lin (10-5, 2.76) vs. TBD 5:30 CT.
