The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-2 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Michael McGreevy, tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in Memphis’ win. Other standouts include Chandler Redmond, Chris Rotondo and Brayden Jobert.

The Memphis Redbirds (25-31) blanked the Gwinnett Stripers (ATL, 27-27) on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Michael McGreevy tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings with nine punchouts to earn his ninth win of the season. TCN’s no. 3 prospect yielded two hits and one walk.
The Redbirds scored both of their runs between the second and third innings. Nick Raposo hit into a double play in the second to plate one run. In the third, César Prieto doubled to drive in José Fermín and make the score 2-0.
Out of the bullpen, Grant Black recorded 1 1/3 scoreless frames. Chris Roycroft saved his first Triple-A game of his career with a hitless ninth.
Prieto recorded the only multi-hit game with two. Memphis had seven hits and four walks in the contest. The pitching allowed two hits and struck out 11 batters.
On the base paths, Chase Pinder stole his sixth bag of the season.
The Redbirds sit nine games back of first in the International League West.

Springfield 10 at NW Arkansas 8
The Springfield Cardinals (28-28) outslugged the NW Arkansas Naturals (27-28) at Arvest Ballpark on Saturday.
Starter Wilfredo Pereira surrendered four runs in six innings on nine hits and one walk. The right-hander struck out one and earned his eighth win.
Springfield plated nine of their 10 runs between the second and third innings. Chandler Redmond blasted his Texas League-leading 29th home run of the year in the second, a solo shot. Aaron Antonini scored one via single and Jose Alvarez grounded out to make the score 3-1. Antonini came across on an error and Noah Mendlinger singled to bring a run home.

In the third inning, Errol Robinson drove in a run with a single. Alvarez walked with the bases loaded and Victor Scott grounded out but two runs came across after an error. Mike Antico plated one run with a single in the sixth inning to make the score 10-4.
Nick Trogrlic-Iverson surrendered two runs in the seventh inning. In two innings, Roy Garcia yielded two runs with three strikeouts.
The lineup recorded 11 hits and six walks. Six different players had two hits. Thomas Saggese doubled and Redmond homered. Every Springfield player was on base at least once.
The Cardinals stole four bases on Saturday night. Antico stole two. Scott and Robinson both took one. Saggese committed a throwing error.
In the Texas League North, Springfield is three games out of first place.

Peoria 8 at Quad Cities 9 (10 innings)
The Peoria Chiefs (34-25) were walked off by the Quad Cities River Bandits (KC, 22-37) in extra innings at Modern Woodmen Park.
Starter Inohan Paniagua gave up five runs on three hits and six walks in 4 1/3 frames. TCN’s no. 27 prospect fanned four. Gustavo Rodriguez was charged with three runs in two innings with four strikeouts.
In the first inning, Jimmy Crooks and Ramon Mendoza both had RBI ground outs to make the score 2-0. After Quad Cities took a 3-2 lead in the third, the Chiefs tied the game in the fourth. Brody Moore drove in one with a groundout. Darlin Moquete hit a solo home run in the fifth, his eighth in High-A.
Matt Hickey struck out four in 1 2/3 innings. Andrew Marrero pitched 1 2/3 frames and took his eighth loss after he yielded an unearned run.
Chris Rotondo singled in two runs in the sixth inning to make the score 7-6. In the ninth, Alex Iadisernia walked with the bases loaded and Rotondo tied the game with a sacrifice fly. The River Bandits walked off the game in the 10th on a wild pitch by Marrero.

Peoria had eight hits and 10 walks but went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Iadisernia went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs and an RBI. Rotondo drove in three runs with two hits. Moore and Mendoza both walked twice.
On the bases, Iadisernia stole a bag and was caught stealing. Rotondo took one and Mendoza was caught stealing.
The Chiefs hold second place by three games in the Midwest League West with a Magic Number of four. If they finish in second, they will clinch a playoff spot.
Sunday’s game: at Quad Cities, RHP Max Rajcic (2-3, 3.04) vs. RHP Luinder Avila (4-6, 4.48) 6:30 CT
The Palm Beach Cardinals (25-30) fell to the Bradenton Marauders (PIT, 35-22) at LECOM Park.
Starter Jose Davila threw three innings and yielded four runs on five hits and five walks. The 20-year-old fanned two and took his third loss. Working in relief for the first time, Gerardo Salas was charged with five runs in 2 1/3 frames.
In the third inning, Michael Curialle singled to score a run and another run came across after an error. The Beach Birds made the score 4-3 in the fourth as Brayden Jobert blasted a solo home run, his second of the season.
Angel Cuenca tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings. In one inning, Tyler Bradt had a scoreless outing after he yielded one hit, two walks and three punchouts.
Jobert had the only multi-hit game for Palm Beach with two. Kade Kretzschmar recorded a single and three walks. The lineup went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.
On the base paths, Tre Richardson stole his fifth bag of 2023.
The Cardinals are two games back of first place in the Florida State League East. They clinched a playoff spot in the first half of the season.
