There were no complete games in the St. Louis Cardinals system on Wednesday because Memphis’ contest was suspended due to weather. The crucial Game 2 for Springfield is tonight at Arkansas. Thomas Saggese is the Double-A batting champion.

Memphis vs. Charlotte – suspended
Game 2 of the home set was suspended in the middle of the first inning due to weather after Charlotte (CWS) put one on the board against Redbirds starter Adam Kloffenstein.
The contest will be resumed on Thursday, September 21 at AutoZone Park with a full nine innings to be played. The plan for Thursday’s regularly scheduled game has not been announced. With both teams in last place in their respective divisions, the game has no post-season implications, so it may just be canceled.
The Redbirds (29-41) are 16.5 games out of first place in the International League West. They have been eliminated from playoff contention. Same with the 17-53 Knights in the East.
Thursday’s game(s?): vs. Charlotte TBA vs. TBA (Game 1) 6:45 CT, TBD (Game 2). Note: RHP Sem Robberse and LHP Garrett Davila were the original scheduled Thursday pitchers.
Springfield at Arkansas – off (Division Series)
Springfield is 0-1 in the best-of-three Texas League North Division Series. Games 2 and 3 (if required) will be held Thursday and Friday at the Arkansas Travelers (Sea).
Thursday’s game: at Arkansas, TBA (Sgf) vs. Blas Castano RHP (0-0, 0.00) 6:35 CT. (RHP Tink Hence is scheduled to start Game 3 for the Cardinals, if they win Thursday.)

Infielder Thomas Saggese, now with Memphis, has won both the Texas League and overall Double-A batting titles for 2023. The Cardinals’ July trade acquisition played 93 games with Frisco (Tex) with a .313 average and 33 contests with Springfield, batting .331, before his September 8 promotion to Triple-A.
