Cardinals Minor League Notebook – September 2, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield SS Jesús Báez, was 4-for-5 including his 36th home run and two RBI. Other standouts: Noah Mendlinger, Tanner Franklin, Ian Petrutz and Jayden Lobliner.

Memphis 7, Durham 2

The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Bulls by a 7-2 score at AutoZone Park on Tuesday. It was manager Ben Johnson’s 500th win at the helm, extending his team record.

Starter Mason Molina pitched four scoreless innings, allowed four hits, walked two and fanned five.

Matt Svanson relieved Molina and threw a scoreless fifth and received the win. In his Triple-A debut, Sandro Santana hurled a scoreless sixth. Austin Love surrendered two runs in the seventh. Jared Shuster tossed the final two scoreless innings.

Memphis went up 3-0 in the second inning. New to Triple-A, Zach Levenson hit a solo home run. Noah Mendlinger singled. Graysen Tarlow doubled. Mendlinger came home on a sac fly by Colton Ledbetter. Brody Moore walked. Tarlow scored on a caught stealing by Moore.

The Redbirds added a run in the third on a solo home run by just-returned Jimmy Crooks. They made it 5-0 in the fourth. Mendlinger singled and stole second base. Moore singled to score Mendlinger.

Memphis extended the lead to 6-0 in the fifth on a solo home run by Chase Davis.

Durham got on the board in the seventh with two runs to cut the lead to 6-2.

The Redbirds answered with a run in the eighth to bring the final score to 7-2.

The offense scored seven runs on 13 hits. Mendlinger was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Davis and Levenson were 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ledbetter was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Mendlinger stole his first base. Moore and Ledbetter were both caught stealing.

Memphis is 24-33 in the second half and is 10.5 games back of the Indianapolis Pirates in the International League.

Wednesday’s game: vs Durham, Brandt Thompson RHP (3-1, 4.28) vs. TBD (DUR) 12:05 CT.

Springfield 3 at Corpus Christi 2

The Double-A Cardinals topped the Hooks in a 3-2 road win on Tuesday.

Starter Tanner Franklin pitched six innings, gave up two runs on three hits, walked three and fanned nine to earn the win.

Chen-Wei Lin relieved Franklin and tossed the final three scoreless innings with six strikeouts to earn his second save.

Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by leadoff man Josiah Ragsdale.

Corpus Christi put up two runs in the second to take the lead 2-1.

In the fifth, the Cardinals added two runs on a two-run home run by Jesús Báez to regain the lead 3-2.

The Cardinals scored three runs on 12 hits. Báez was 4-for-5 with two RBI. Ragsdale was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rainiel Rodriguez was 2-for-4.

Báez stole his second base.

Springfield is 39-19 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North.

Wednesday’s game: at Corpus Christi, Daniel Eagen RHP (7-10, 4.61) vs. Cole Hertzler RHP (1-3, 4.54) 6:35 CT.

Peoria 4, Quad Cities 5

The High-A Chiefs were edged by the River Bandits by a 5-4 score at Dozer Park on Tuesday.

Starter Ty Van Dyke pitched six innings, gave up three runs on six hits, walked three and fanned five.

Bobby Olsen relieved Van Dyke and threw a scoreless seventh. Zeke Wood hurled a scoreless eighth. Nate Dohm surrendered two runs in the ninth and took the loss.

Peoria took the lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Ian Petrutz.

Quad Cities cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the third.

The Chiefs answered with a run in the home third to increase the lead to 3-1. Andrew Williamson was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Sammy Hernandez doubled to score Williamson.

The River Bandits tied the game in the fourth.

Peoria scored one run in the fifth to retake the lead at 4-3. Williamson walked. Caden Ferraro walked. Jalin Flores singled to plate Williamson.

Quad Cities rallied for two runs in the ninth to win the game 5-4.

The Chiefs scored four runs on six hits. Petrutz had two RBI. Williamson scored two runs and stole his second base. José Suárez was caught stealing.

The Chiefs are 28-32 in the second half and are in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 10.5 games back of first place.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Quad Cities, Brandon Clarke LHP (0-1, 3.70) vs. Emmanuel Reyes RHP (6-4, 4.35) 6:35 CT.

Palm Beach 11, Daytona 0

Behind five home runs and excellent pitching, the Class-A Cardinals blanked the Tortugas in an 11-0 rout at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday.

Starter Branneli Franco pitched four scoreless innings, allowed four hits and fanned five.

Dallis Moran relieved Franco and threw three perfect innings with four strikeouts to earn the win. Justin Militello tossed the final two scoreless innings.

Palm Beach went up 4-0 in the third inning. Gabe Camacho doubled. Jayden Lobliner hit a two-run home run. Trevor Condon thumped a solo home run. Miguel Hernández singled. Alexander Frias walked. Ryan Mitchell singled to score Hernández.

The Cardinals added a run in the fourth on a solo home run by Dee Kennedy and added four runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 9-0. Hernández doubled. Frias reached on an error and stole second base. Kennedy walked. Owen Henne blasted a grand slam.

The Beach Birds put up two final runs in the eighth for the final of 11-0. Hernández hit a solo home run. Frias tripled and scored on a sac fly by Mitchell.

The Cardinals scored 11 runs on 15 hits. Lobliner was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Hernández was 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Frias was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Camacho was 3-for-5. Henne had four RBI. Mitchell drove in two. Kennedy scored two runs.

Frias stole his sixth base.

The Cardinals are 30-31 in the second half and are in second place in the Florida State League East, 6.5 games back of Daytona.
