Cardinals Minor League Notebook – September 19, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-0 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis CF Chase Davis, singled, doubled, walked and drove in three. Other standouts: Brandt Thompson and Jimmy Crooks.

Memphis 8 at Nashville 6

The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Sounds by an 8-6 score on Friday.

Starter Brandt Thompson pitched five innings, gave up two runs on six hits, walked two and fanned seven to earn his fourth win.

Austin Love relieved Thompson and surrendered three runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief.  Sandro Santana threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, lowering his Triple-A ERA to 2.00. Ryan Fernandez yielded one run in the ninth but received his second save.

Nashville scored single runs in the third and the fifth to lead 2-0.

In the top of the sixth, Memphis put up seven runs. Chase Davis walked. Noah Mendlinger singled. Dakota Harris singled to score Davis. Colton Ledbetter singled. Trey Paige walked and Mendlinger came home. Jimmy Crooks singled to plate Harris and Ledbetter.

Ramon Mendoza drove in Paige on a single. Bligh Madris grounded into a force out. Mendoza was out at second. Davis doubled to score Crooks and Madris.

The Sounds added two runs in the home sixth and made it 7-5 in the seventh.

The Cardinals increased the lead to 8-5 in the eighth. Crooks walked and later scored on a sac fly by Davis.

Nashville put up one more run in the ninth to reach the final score of 8-6.

The Redbirds scored eight runs on 14 hits. Davis was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Crooks was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Mendoza was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mendlinger was 2-for-5. Ledbetter was 2-for-6.

Zach Levenson had an outfield assist at home plate.

Memphis is 35-38 in the second half and are eight games back of Rochester and Indianapolis in the International League.

Saturday’s game: at Nashville, LHP Josh Fleming (5-8, 3.93) vs. Thomas Pannone LHP (5-4, 4.70) 6:35 CT

Springfield Cardinals – Off day

The Cardinals are off until the Championship Series begins on Sunday, September 20. Their opponent will be Amarillo, which edged Frisco 8-7 in the deciding Game 3 of the South Division Series Friday evening.

Game 1 of the three-game Finals will be in Amarillo on Sunday. Games 2 and 3 (if needed) will be held at Route 66 Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday.
