The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-0 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis CF Michael Siani, was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Other standouts include Andy Yerzy, Blaze Jordan, and César Prieto.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds bested the St. Paul Saints in an 8-3 contest at AutoZone Park on Wednesday.
Starter Quinn Mathews pitched four innings, gave up two runs on four hits, five walks, and four strikeouts.
Jack Ralston relieved Mathews and threw a scoreless fifth to earn the win. Oddanier Mosqueda surrendered one run in the sixth. Andre Granillo hurled two scoreless innings. Zack Weiss tossed a scoreless ninth.
Memphis took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
César Prieto singled and stole second base. Matt Koperniak singled. Blaze Jordan connected for a third consecutive single to score Prieto for the first run of the game.

The Redbirds added a pair of runs in the second to extend the lead.
Mike Antico doubled. JJ Wetherholt walked. Wetherholt and Antico stole second base and third base, respectively, on a double steal. Antico scored on a groundout by Prieto. Wetherholt came home on a sac fly by Koperniak to stretch the lead to 5-0.
St. Paul put up two runs in the fourth and added a run in the top of the sixth to cut into the lead at 5-3. Memphis answered with a run in the home half of the sixth to extend the lead to 6-3.

The Redbirds widened the lead with a two-run seventh frame.
Jordan doubled and advanced to third on a ground out by Gavin Collins. Yerzy walked. Siani plated Jordan on a single.

Memphis recorded seven hits with runners in scoring position en route to victory.
The Redbirds scored eight runs on 13 hits. Siani was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Yerzy was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Jordan was 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Prieto was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Antico was 2-for-4 and doubled twice and scored two runs. Wetherholt walked, doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Moore tallied a double and an RBI.
On the bases, Prieto stole his 12th bag of the season. Siani swiped his 26th. Antico snagged his 21st base. Wetherholt stole his ninth base at the Triple-A level.
On defense, shortstop Wetherholt made a fielding error.
Memphis is 78-66 overall, and 37-34 in the second half. They are 10 games back of Scranton in the International League West Division.

Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off on Wednesday, as they headed home to Hammons Field for the second game of the Texas League Division Series against the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday.
Springfield is 1-0 in the Division Series following a 3-1 win in Tulsa and will look to sweep the best-of-three series and advance.
