The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-0 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis LF Chase Davis, had three walks, a two-run home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Other standouts: Jurrangelo Cijntje, Trey Paige and Colton Ledbetter.

The Triple-A Cardinals walloped the Sounds in an 11-1 rout in Nashville on Wednesday.
Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowed two hits, walked two and struck out three to earn the win.
Matt Svanson secured the final two outs of the sixth. Andrew Schultz hurled a scoreless seventh. Skylar Hales surrendered one run in the eighth. Sandro Santana tossed a scoreless ninth.
Memphis took the lead in the first inning on a leadoff solo home run by Colton Ledbetter.

The Redbirds put up five runs in the second to increase the lead to 6-0. Chase Davis walked. Trey Paige tripled to score Davis. Paige came home on a sac fly by Noah Mendlinger. Brody Moore singled and stole second base. Andy Yerzy walked. Ledbetter reached on a fielder’s choice. César Prieto doubled to plate Moore and Yerzy. Ramon Mendoza walked. Davis walked and Ledbetter scored.

Memphis added three runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 9-0. Ledbetter and Mendoza singled. Bligh Madris reached on catcher interference. Davis walked to force in Ledbetter. Paige plated Mendoza and Madris on a single.

Nashville scored its only run in the eighth.
The Redbirds tacked on two more runs in the ninth to reach the final score of 11-1. Mendoza walked and Davis followed with a two-run home run.

The offense scored 11 runs on 13 hits. Paige was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Davis had four RBI and two runs scored. Ledbetter was 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Mendlinger was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Moore was 2-for-5. Mendoza was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Prieto drove in two.
Moore stole his 14th base.
Memphis is 33-38 in the second half and is 9 games back of Rochester and Indianapolis in the International League.
Thursday’s game: at Nashville, RHP Brandt Thompson (6-5, 4.89) vs. Tate Kuehner LHP (2-2, 5.03) 6:35 CT.
Springfield at Tulsa – Division Series off day
The Double-A Cardinals are 1-0 in the Division Series and can clinch the North title with a win on Thursday.
