The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-0 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Chen-Wei Lin, pitched four no-hit innings and tied a career-high nine strikeouts. Other standouts include Noah Mendlinger, Joshua Baez, Dakota Harris, and Edwin Nuñez.

Memphis Redbirds 4 at Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 2 (12 innings)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds won in extra innings over the Jacksonville Jumbo in the final road game of the Redbirds’ 2025 season.
Zach Plesac started his 13th game for Memphis. The right-hander pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.
Gerson Moreno threw a scoreless sixth inning in relief of Plesac. Left-hander Oddanier Mosqueda fanned two in a shutout seventh frame. Andre Granillo fired a scoreless eighth. Nick Raquet pitched two shutout frames. Skylar Hales struck out two in a shutout 11th inning and collected his fifth win. Alex Cornwell tossed a scoreless 12th frame with two strikeouts and picked up his first save of the season, the fourth in his career.
Jacksonville took a 2-0 lead with a run apiece in the second and third innings. Memphis tied the game in the fifth.
Noah Mendlinger was hit by a pitch and Brody Moore walked to put two on base. Mike Antico walked to load the bags with no outs. JJ Wetherholt drew a third consecutive walk to bring Mendlinger home and put Memphis in the run column at 2-1.
Moore crossed home plate on a César Prieto sacrifice fly to tie the game at two.
The Redbirds looked to grab the lead in the sixth. Andy Yerzy and Mendlinger hit back-to-back singles. Antico was plunked to load the bags with two outs, though a strikeout ended the threat.
The game stayed deadlocked at two to force extra innings. Memphis broke through in the top of the 12th inning.
Prieto began the inning at second base and Matt Koperniak was intentionally walked. Koperniak and Prieto advanced to second base and third base, respectively, on a Blaze Jordan flyout. Matt Lloyd was intentionally walked to load the bags. With two outs, Mendlinger lined a single to bring Prieto and Koperniak home and give Memphis their first lead of the game at 4-2.

The Redbirds’ bullpen fired seven shutout innings and allowed just one hit in the victory.
Memphis scored four runs on six hits. Mendlinger was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBI. Prieto was 2-for-5, including a triple for the team’s lone extra-base hit, one RBI, and a run scored. Wetherholt singled, walked twice, and tallied an RBI.
On the bases, Prieto was caught stealing second base.
On defense, catcher Yerzy made a throwing error.
Memphis is 76-66 overall, and 35-34 in the second half after taking two of six from Jacksonville. They reside in fifth place in the International League West Division, five games back of first. The Redbirds are off on Monday and will head home to AutoZone Park for a six-game set with the St. Paul Saints, the final series of their season, beginning Tuesday.

Springfield Cardinals 7, San Antonio Missions 0
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals blanked the San Antonio Missions at Hammons Field in the final game of their 2025 regular season.
Chen-Wei Lin started for Springfield. The right-hander pitched four scoreless, no-hit innings, tied a career-high with nine strikeouts, and issued two walks.

Edwin Nuñez fanned four across 2 ⅔ shutout frames in relief of Lin and collected his third win. Zane Mills followed with 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. Randel Clemente finished the game with a scoreless ninth.
Springfield broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Jon Jon Gazdar walked and scored on Joshua Baez’s 16th Double-A home run, a two-run blast, to put the Cardinals in front 2-0. This marked Baez’s third consecutive game with a home run.

Springfield broke the game open in a five-run seventh.
Trey Paige led-off the frame with a single. Jeremy Rivas was hit by a pitch and Graysen Tarlow walked to load the bags with no outs. Darlin Moquete was hit by a pitch to force Paige home for a 3-0 lead. Gazdar reached first on a forceout, with Moquete to second, Tarlow to third, and Rivas out at home. Ramon Mendoza brought Tarlow home with a sacrifice fly. Baez was hit by a pitch. Dakota Harris lined a single to plate Moquete and Gazdar and extend the lead to 6-0, with Baez to second base on the play.
Miguel Ugueto followed with a single to bring Baez home and stretch the lead to 7-0, with Harris out at home on the play to end the frame.
Springfield did not allow a hit with runners in scoring position in the victory.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on two hits. Baez walked, scored twice, hit a home run, and drove in two runs. Harris singled and tallied two RBI. Ugueto singled and drove in a run. Paige was 3-for-4. Mendoza walked and drove in a run via a sacrifice fly.
The Cardinals did not steal a base nor commit an error in the contest.
Springfield finished their 2025 regular season at 88-50 overall, and 45-24 in the second half. They finished as Texas League North Division champions in both halves of the season as they won the second half division title by five games. The team’s 88 wins marked a franchise record.
