The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Tanner Franklin, pitched six innings of one-run baseball with eight strikeouts en route to his third Double-A win. Other standouts: Dakota Harris, Skylar Hales, Brody Moore, Tre Richardson III, and Josiah Ragsdale.

Memphis Redbirds 2, Norfolk Tides 9
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds fell to the Norfolk Tides at AutoZone Park on Thursday.
Brandt Thompson started for Memphis. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, three walks, and five strikeouts, taking the loss.
Matt Svanson struck out three in the fifth inning in relief of Thompson. Ryan Murphy surrendered three runs and recorded two outs. Skylar Hales followed with 2 ⅓ scoreless innings. Hancel Rincon fanned two in a shutout ninth frame.
Norfolk plated a run in the top of the first and two runs in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Memphis responded with a run in the home third.
Brody Moore legged out an infield single and advanced to second base on a Colton Ledbetter groundout. César Prieto lined a single to bring Prieto home and put the Redbirds on the board at 3-1, though Prieto was thrown out at second base on the play.
The Tides scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth frame to extend their lead to 6-1. Memphis dented the gap with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Dakota Harris belted his first Triple-A home run, a solo shot, for a 6-2 contest.

Norfolk scored three runs in the sixth inning to move ahead 9-2. Memphis was unable to answer.
The Redbirds scored two runs on eight hits. Prieto was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Harris walked and hit a home run. Moore was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Ramon Mendoza and Chase Davis each singled, with Davis also drawing a walk. The lineup went just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Davis stole his second bag in Triple-A.
The Redbirds did not commit an error in the game.
Memphis is 30-36 in the second half and 77-64 overall.

Springfield Cardinals 4, Arkansas Travelers 3
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals edged the Arkansas Travelers at Route 66 Stadium on Thursday for their seventh consecutive win.
Tanner Franklin started for Springfield. The right-hander pitched six innings and allowed one run on five hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. Franklin improved to a 3-0 record in Double-A.

Domenic Picone struck out two over 1 ⅔ innings in relief of Franklin. Christian Worley gave up two runs in an inning of work. Michael Watson recorded the final out of the game for his first save of the year.
The Travelers struck first with a run in the top of the second inning. Springfield grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third.
Cade McGee doubled and took third base on an Ian Petrutz groundout. Josiah Ragsdale singled home McGee to tie the game. Rainiel Rodriguez legged out an infield single to move Ragsdale to second base. Rodriguez and Ragsdale swiped second base and third base, respectively, with Ragsdale home on the play via a throwing error to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.
Springfield extended the lead in the home sixth. Deniel Ortiz singled and Jack Gurevitch hit a double to put two runners in scoring position. With two outs, Tre Richardson III scorched a double off the left-field wall to plate Ortiz and Gurevitch and stretch the lead to 4-1.

Springfield held off a late ninth-inning Arkansas rally to seal the win.
The Cardinals scored four runs on 10 hits. Every hitter recorded at least one hit. Richardson III doubled and collected two RBI. Ragsdale singled, scored a run, and drove in a run. McGee, Gurevitch, Won-Bin Cho, and Jesús Báez each recorded a double.
On the bases, Ragsdale stole his sixth bag with Springfield. Rodriguez notched his seventh steal. Cho swiped his seventh Double-A base.
On defense, right fielder Richardson III committed a fielding error and threw a runner out at home. Rodriguez caught two runners stealing from behind the dish.

Springfield is 46-20 in the second half and 77-57 overall.
