The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-0 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 2B Nolan Gorman, was 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI. Other standouts include Mike Antico, Leonardo Bernal, Matt Lloyd, and Joshua Baez.
Results for games played Tuesday, September 10.
The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Sounds in a 5-3 road win on Tuesday. Michael McGreevy was on the bump for Memphis. The right hander pitched five innings, gave up three runs on seven hits, struck out four and walked two to earn his ninth win.
Kyle Leahy relieved McGreevy and threw two scoreless innings. Wilking Rodriguez hurled a scoreless inning. Ryan Loutos tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his 16th save.
Memphis went up 1-0 in the first inning on a solo home run by Nolan Gorman. The Redbirds added four runs in the top of the second to extend the lead to 5-0. Alfonso Rivas doubled. Chandler Redmond drew a walk. Mike Antico plated Rivas and Redmond on a double. Gorman followed with a two-run home run.

Nashville scored their first run in the home second and added two runs in the fourth to make it 5-3 Redbirds.
Neither team scored in the final five innings.
Memphis scored five runs on nine hits. Gorman was 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI. Antico was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Arquímedes Gamboa made a throwing error.
Memphis is 69-70 on the season, 31-33 in the second half. They are in sixth place in the International League West, 10.5 games back of Columbus.
Wednesday’s game: at Nashville, RHP Sem Robberse (5-5, 4.19) vs. Carlos Rodriguez RHP (9-8, 4.47) 6:35 CT.
Springfield 7 at San Antonio 3
The Double-A Cardinals picked up a road win over the Missions by the score of 7-3 on Tuesday. Startin pitcher Brandon Komar pitched 7 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on six hits, fanned seven and walked one to earn his seventh win.

Nathanael Heredia relieved Komar and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save.
Springfield put up three runs in the top of the first inning. Bryan Torres led off with a single and advanced to second on a balk. Nathan Church drew a walk. Matt Lloyd doubled to score Torres and Church. Lloyd scored on a single by Leonardo Bernal.

In the top of the fifth, the Cardinals increased their lead to 5-0. Church singled. Jimmy Crooks was hit by a pitch. Lloyd ground into a force out and Crooks was out at second. Lloyd stole second base and Church scored on a throwing error. Lloyd came home on a ground out by Chase Davis.
San Antonio got on the board in the home fifth to cut Springfield’s lead to 5-2. The Cardinals added a sixth run in the seventh. Davis singled and stole second base. Bernal singled. Davis scored on a force out by Noah Mendlinger.
The Missions put up one run in the eighth to shrink the lead to 6-3. Springfield scored their final run in the ninth for the final score of 7-3. Lloyd doubled to start the inning and came home on a single by Bernal.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on 15 hits. Bernal was 4-for-5 with two RBI. Lloyd was 2-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. Davis was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Mendlinger was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Torres was 2-for-4.
Lloyd stole his 16th base of the season. Davis swiped his first bag with Springfield.
Jeremy Rivas made a throwing error. Mendlinger had a fielding miscue.
Springfield is 77-56, 40-24 in the second half.
Wednesday’s game: at San Antonio, Tink Hence RHP (4-3, 2.76) vs. Austin Krob LHP (4-10, 4.50) 7:05 CT.
Palm Beach 8 at Daytona 3 (Division Series, Game 1)
The Class-A Cardinals were the winners in the first game of the Florida State League East Division Series on Tuesday at the Daytona Tortugas. Jose Davila started for Palm Beach. The right-hander pitched five innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out four and walked three to earn the win.
Michael Watson relieved Davila and threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings on one hit, one walk and five strikeouts. Nolan Sparks tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Cardinals took an immediate lead in the first inning on a two-run home run by JJ Wetherholt, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday. The Tortugas answered with one in the home first to cut the lead to 2-1.
Palm Beach extended their lead in the second with three runs. Ian Petrutz and Anyelo Encarnacion singled. Christian Martin plated Petrutz and Encarnacion on a double. Martin came home on a single by Bryce Madron.
Daytona scored one run in the third to cut the lead to 5-2. In the sixth, the Cardinals added three runs to widen the lead to 8-2. Jose Suarez drew a walk. Ryan Campos singled. Joshua Baez drove in Suarez and Campos with a triple. Baez scored on a double play by Petrutz.
The Tortugas added one more run in the ninth for the final score of 8-3.
Palm Beach scored eight runs on 11 hits. Baez was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Madron was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Petrutz was 2-for-4. Wetherholt and Martin each had two RBI.
Baez and Madron were both caught stealing. Encarnacion made a fielding error.
Game 2 of the Division Series will be in Jupiter on Thursday with the Beach Birds playing for a sweep. If necessary, a deciding Game 3 will be held at Roger Dean on Friday.
Wednesday’s game: No game.
