The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield DH Ramon Mendoza, went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Other standouts include Bryan Torres, Miguel Ugueto and Leonardo Bernal.

The Triple-A Redbirds fell to the Jumbo Shrimp in Jacksonville, FL by a 5-2 score on Tuesday. Starter Zach Plesac pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on four hits and fanned four. Plesac took the loss.
Anthony Veneziano relieved Plesac and surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 innings. Gerson Moreno threw a scoreless seventh. Jack Ralston tossed a scoreless eighth.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Bryan Torres singled. Blaze Jordan doubled. Torres scored on a sac fly by Matt Koperniak.
Jacksonville scored two runs in the fourth, added a run in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to lead 5-1.
The Redbirds cut the lead to 5-2 in the seventh. Gavin Collins singled. Noah Mendlinger walked. Torres plated Collins on a single.

The offense scored two runs on six hits. Torres was 3-for-4 with an RBI. The offense was 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Memphis is 74-63 overall, 33-31 in the second half. They are 10 games back of Scranton in the IL.
Wednesday’s game: at Jacksonville, Aaron Wilkerson RHP (6-3, 4.04) vs. Patrick Monteverde LHP (5-5, 5.02) 6:05 CT
The Double-A Cardinals beat the Missions by a 7-5 score on Tuesday at Hammons Field.
Starter Chen-Wei Lin pitched three innings, gave up one run three hits, fanned six and walked one.

Ricardo Velez relieved Lin and surrendered three runs in two innings. In his Double-A debut, Mason Burns yielded one run in two innings. Michael Watson tossed the final two scoreless innings to earn the win.
Springfield went up 3-0 in the second inning. Joshua Baez singled and stole second. Jeremy Rivas walked. Baez and Rivas executed a double steal. Trey Paige walked. Baez scored on a wild pitch. Ramon Mendoza plated Rivas and Paige on a single.

San Antonio scored a run in the third. The Cardinals added four in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-1. Paige walked. Mendoza singled. Miguel Ugueto drove in Paige on a single. St. Louis rehabber Brendan Donovan walked. Leonardo Bernal singled to plate Mendoza and Ugueto. Donovan scored on a double by Zach Levenson.
The Missions rallied for three runs in the fifth and pulled to within two runs in the seventh at 7-5. The Cardinals and Watson held on to win in the final innings.
The offense scored seven runs on 10 hits. Named Texas League Player of the Week on Monday, Mendoza celebrated by going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ugueto was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Baez was 2-for-5. Bernal had two RBI. Paige scored two runs.
On the bases, Baez stole two bases. Rivas swiped his 21st bag. Ugueto was picked off and caught stealing.
On defense, Bernal was called for catcher interference.
Springfield is 85-48 overall, 42-22 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North.
