The St. Louis Cardinals system was 0-5 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach’s Darlin Saladin, pitched six scoreless innings on three hits and five strikeouts. Other standouts include César Prieto, Jonathan Mejia, Sammy Hernandez, and Michael Curialle.

The Triple-A Redbirds were walloped by the Tides in a 12-3 blowout at AutoZone Park on Wednesday. Starter Sem Robberse pitched six innings, gave up six runs on four hits (all solo home runs), struck out seven and walked four. Robberse took the loss, his first of the season as his ERA grew to 2.81.
Ryan Loutos relieved and surrendered one run in the seventh. In his Triple-A debut, Nick Raquet yielded five runs, three earned, in the final two innings.
Norfolk took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Memphis tied the game in the home half on a two-run home run by César Prieto.

The Tides scored often, with one run in each of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to lead 6-0. The Redbirds added their third and final run in the bottom of the sixth when Prieto walked and later came home on a single by Matt Koperniak.
Norfolk continued to score each inning with one run in the seventh, two in the eighth, and three in the ninth.
Memphis had three runs on seven hits. Nick Dunn was 2-for-4. Prieto had two RBI. St. Louis rehabber Matt Carpenter went 0-for-4 with a walk and three strikeouts.
On the base paths, Victor Scott II stole two bases. In the field, Alfonso Rivas and Thomas Saggese each made a throwing error.
Memphis is 17-17 on the season.
Thursday’s game: vs. Norfolk, Zack Thompson LHP (1-0, 0.00) vs. Chayce McDermott RHP (1-1, 2.89) 11:05 am CT.
Springfield at NW Arkansas (postponed)
This game was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, May 9.
Thursday’s games: at NW Arkansas, Tekoah Roby RHP (1-1, 6.94) vs. Mason Barnett RHP (1-0, 3.42) 5:00 CT (Game 1); Edwin Nuñez RHP (0-1, 6.14) vs. Chandler Champlain RHP (1-1, 5.32) (Game 2).
Peoria 2 at Beloit 3 (eight innings, Game 1)
The Chiefs were topped by the Sky Carp in a one run extra inning loss in the first game of a twin bill on Wednesday. Starter Cooper Hjerpe pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowed no hits, struck out seven and walked three on 65 pitches in total.
Joseph King surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Tanner Jacobson yielded two runs, one earned, in 2 1/3 innings and took the walk off loss.
Peoria scored one run in the top of the first. Zach Levenson walked and Alex ladisernia singled. Levenson was driven in by Michael Curialle’s single.
The Chiefs added a run in the top of the sixth to lead 2-0. Dakota Harris and Leonardo Bernal singled. Harris came home on a force out by Curialle.
Beloit scored one run in the home sixth to cut the lead to 2-1. The Sky Carp added a run in the seventh to tie the game and ended it with one more in the eighth.
Peoria scored two runs on five hits. ladisernia was 2-for-4. Curialle had two RBI.
Peoria 1 at Beloit 3 (seven innings, Game 2)
The Chiefs were defeated by the Sky Carp in game two of the twin bill on Wednesday for their seventh consecutive loss. Starter Inohan Paniagua pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on three hits, struck out six and walked four. Paniagua took the loss, his third of the season.
Wilfredo Pereira threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Roy Garcia tossed a scoreless sixth.
Beloit took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Peoria scored their only run in the third on a solo home run by Zach Levenson.

The Sky Carp added a run in the fourth to lead 3-1.
The Chiefs scored one run three hits. No Chief had multiples. The offense was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.
On the base paths, Joshua Baez stole his seventh base of the season. In the field, Graysen Tarlow and Anyelo Encarnacion each made a throwing error.
Peoria is 8-21 this season.
Thursday’s game: at Beloit, Pete Hansen LHP (0-3, 5.76) vs. TBD 6:35 CT.
The Low-A Cardinals were edged by the Hammerheads by a 3-2 score at Roger Dean Stadium on Wednesday. Starter Darlin Saladin pitched six scoreless innings, allowed three hits, struck out five and walked one.
Losing pitcher Henry Gomez surrendered three runs, two earned, in two innings of relief.
The game was scoreless for five innings. In the top of the sixth, the Beach Birds scored one run. Jose Cordoba walked and later came home on a single by Johnfrank Salazar. Palm Beach went up 2-0 in the top of the seventh as Tre Richardson tripled and was driven in by Sammy Hernandez’ single.
Jupiter scored their first run in the home seventh, then took the lead in the eighth with two more runs.
The Cardinals had two runs on nine hits. Hernandez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Salazar was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Richardson was 2-for-3.
In the field, Richardson made a fielding error. Brayden Jobert had an outfield assist at third base.
Palm Beach is 16-13 on the season.
Thursday’s game: at Jupiter, RH Jason Savacool (1-1, 6.06) vs. Brandon White RHP (2-1, 4.79) 5:30 CT.
FCL Cardinals 4 at FCL Nationals 5
The rookie level Cardinals were edged by the Nationals by a 5-4 score on Wednesday morning. Yadiel Batista pitched three scoreless innings, allowed no hits, struck out four and walked one.
Samuel Fabian relieved and surrendered one run in the fourth. Alexander Beltre yielded three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Victor Villanueva allowed one run in 1/3 innings and took the loss. Roblin Heredia and Miguel Martinez tossed a scoreless seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Jonathan Mejia hit a solo home run. Jose Suarez doubled and came home on a single by Raul Guzman. They added two more runs in the fourth to lead 4-0. Heriberto Caraballo drew a walk. Suarez doubled. Felix Taveras plated Caraballo and Suarez on a single.
The Nationals put their first run on the board in the home fourth. They added four more runs in the sixth to go ahead 5-4.
The Cardinals had four runs on seven hits. Mejia was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Suarez was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Taveras had two RBI.
On the base paths, Justin Guerrero stole his first base of the season. Yordalin Pena and Mejia were each caught stealing.
In the field, Guzman made two fielding errors. Batista picked a runner off first base. Guerrero had a passed ball.
The Cardinals are 2-2 on the season.
