The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-4 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach’s Jacob Odle, pitched five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Other standouts include Blaze Jordan, Colton Ledbetter, Miguel Villarroel, Ryan Campos, Noah Mendlinger, Jeremy Rivas, Josh Kross and José Suárez.

Memphis 3 at Toledo 4 (eight innings, Game 1)
The Triple-A Redbirds were edged by the Mud Hens in the first game of a twin bill by the score of 4-3 on Wednesday. It was the makeup of Wednesday’s rainout.
Starter Brycen Mautz pitched five innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked three and fanned five.
Chris Roycroft relieved Mautz and surrendered one run in two innings. Luis Gastelum yielded one unearned run in the eighth and took the loss.
Memphis took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Joshua Báez and Blaze Jordan singled. Colton Ledbetter doubled to plate Báez and Jordan.

The Redbirds added a run in the top of the third on a Bryan Torres solo home run to extend the lead.

Toledo scored a run in the home half third. The Mud Hens added single runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings to pull ahead and win, 4-3.
The Memphis offense scored three runs on 10 hits. Ledbetter was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Báez and Jordan were 2-for-4.
Memphis 3 at Toledo 1 (seven innings, Game 2)
Memphis defeated Toledo in the second game for a split of the road twin bill on Wednesday.
Starter Bruce Zimmermann pitched 5 1/3 innings, yielded one run on four hits, walked two and struck out three to earn his fourth win.
St. Louis rehabber Matt Pushard relieved Zimmermann and threw the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings for his first save.
Memphis took 1-0 lead in the second inning. Nelson Velázquez drew a walk and stole second. Miguel Villarroel plated Velázquez on a single.

Toledo plated one run in the sixth for the final 3-1 score.
The Memphis offense scored three runs on four hits. Villarroel was 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Jordan drove in two.
Velázquez stole his second base of the season. Ramon Mendoza was caught stealing.
Memphis is 23-12 on the season and is in first place in the International League West.

Springfield 10, Corpus Christi 6
The Double-A Cardinals defeated the Hooks by a 10-6 score in Springfield on Wednesday.
Starter Brayden Davis pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up four runs, two earned, on five hits, walked one and struck out three.
Hunter Hayes relieved Davis and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Edwin Nuñez and Dominic Picone added a scoreless inning each. Austin Love surrendered two unearned runs in the ninth.
Corpus Christi went up 1-0 in the first and 2-0 in the second.
In the home second, Springfield put up four runs to take the lead. Ryan Campos doubled. Zach Levenson singled. Travis Honeyman plated Campos on a single. Jeremy Rivas drove in Levenson and Honeyman on a single. Rivas came home on a sac fly by Noah Mendlinger.

The Hooks tied the game in the third.
In the sixth, the Cardinals scored three runs to retake the lead at 7-4. Honeyman singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Dakota Harris walked. Honeyman stole third and Harris stole second. Mendlinger reached on a fielder’s choice and Honeyman scored. Miguel Ugueto plated Harris and Mendlinger on a single with help via an error by the left fielder.

In the eighth, Springfield extended their lead to 10-4. Mendlinger singled but was eliminated on a force out by Jon Jon Gazdar. Gazdar advanced to second on a throwing error and scored on a single by Chase Davis. Campos followed with a two-run home run.

Corpus Christi added two runs in the ninth for the final score of 10-6.
The Cardinals scored 10 runs on nine hits. Campos was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Mendlinger was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Honeyman was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Rivas and Mendlinger drove in two each.
Davis stole two bases. Honeyman swiped his 10th bag. Harris stole his sixth base.
It was a mixed bag defensively for Springfield. Although they had several highlight plays, they also committed four fielding errors. Miscues by Ugueto, Harris, Rivas and Mendlinger led to four unearned runs.

Thursday’s games: vs. Corpus Christi, Game 1: Mason Molina LHP (0-2, 3.80) vs. Bryce Mayer RHP (0-0, 4.50) 4:15 p.m., Game 2: RHP Chen-Wei Lin (1-2, 4.08) v. RHP James Hicks (1-2, 4.94).
The Chiefs fell to the Timber Rattlers by the score of 8-5 on Wednesday at Dozer Park.
Starter Blake Aita pitched three innings, gave up two runs on two hits, walked four and fanned five.
Jawilme Ramírez relieved Aita and surrendered three runs in two innings. Ramírez took the loss. Jason Savacool yielded two runs in the sixth. Zack Showalter relinquished one run in two innings. D.J. Carpenter tossed a scoreless ninth.
Wisconsin went up 2-0 in the top of the second inning.
Peoria scored three runs in the home second to take the lead. Josh Kross hit a solo home run.

In the top of the fourth, the Timber Rattlers scored two runs to regain the lead at 4-3.
The Chiefs answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Won-Bin Cho doubled and later scored on a wild pitch.
Wisconsin retook the lead at 5-4 in the fifth. They made it 7-4 in the top of the sixth.
Peoria responded with a run in the home sixth to cut the lead to 7-5. McGee walked, stole second, and scored on a single by Jose Cordoba.
The Timber Rattlers added a run in the seventh to extend the lead to 8-5. The Chiefs did not answer.
Peoria scored five runs on 12 hits. Kross was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Cordoba was 2-for-4 with an RBI. McGee was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Suárez had two RBI. Jalin Flores was 2-for-5.
McGee stole his third base of the season. Rainiel Rodriguez was caught stealing. Kross had a passed ball.
Peoria is 13-15 on the season.
Thursday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Yhoiker Fajardo RHP (1-0, 1.37) vs. Braylon Owens RHP (1-0, 3.38) 6:35 CT.
The Low-A Cardinals were blanked by the Hammerheads by a 1-0 score on Wednesday at Roger Dean.
Starter Jacob Odle pitched five scoreless innings, allowed two hits, walked two and fanned six.

Kaden Echeman relieved Odle and surrendered one run in the final three innings. Echeman took the loss.
The game was scoreless for the first seven innings. In the eighth, Jupiter plated the only run of the game on a solo home run.
Palm Beach was held scoreless on only three hits, all singles. Chase Heath was 2-for-3. The offense was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
Ryan Mitchell stole his seventh base of the season. Ryan Weingartner swiped his 10th bag. Heath and Weingartner were both caught stealing. Heath was picked off first base.
The Cardinals are 16-13 on the season.

FCL Cardinals 4 at FCL Astros 5
The rookie Cardinals fell to the Astros by a 5-4 score on Wednesday. Starter Branneli Franco pitched 2 1/3 innings, gave up two runs, one earned, on one hit, walked three and struck out two. Franco took the loss.
Jarol Baéz relieved Franco and secured the final two outs of the third. Gabriel Chinchilla surrendered three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Owen Rice got the final out of the fifth. Jan Cabrera tossed the final three scoreless innings.
The Astros took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added three more in the fifth.
The Cardinals got on the board in the eighth to cut the lead to 5-2. Sebastian Dos Santos doubled. Cristofer Lebron walked. Both runners advanced on a balk. Dos Santos scored on a wild pitch. Lebron came home on a fielding error.
The Cardinals pulled closer on a two-run home run by Lebron in the ninth for the final tally of 5-4.
The offense scored four runs on four hits. Michael Dattalo was 2-for-3. Lebron had two RBI. Dos Santos scored two runs.
Dattalo made a throwing error. Chinchilla made an error on a pickoff attempt. J.P. Cabrera had a passed ball.
The Cardinals are 0-2 on the season.
