Cardinals Minor League Notebook – May 6, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day. Peoria LF Won-Bin Cho, was 2-for-3 plus a walk and two RBI in Peoria’s win over Wisconsin. Other standouts include Leonel Sequera, Tai Peete and Rainiel Rodriguez.

Memphis at Toledo (postponed)

The Triple-A Redbirds’ series opening game in Toledo, OH was postponed due to rain. It will be played as the first game of a doubleheader on May 6.

Memphis is 22-11 on the season and is in first place in the International League West.

Wednesday’s games: at Toledo LHP Brycen Mautz (0-1, 2.84) vs RHP Ty Madden (2-0, 4.71) 10:05 am CT (game one); at Toledo LHP Bruce Zimmermann (3-0, 3.26) vs. Dylan File RHP (3-0, 3.38) (game two).

Springfield vs. Corpus Christi (postponed)

The first game at the newly christened Route 66 Stadium was postponed due to rain. It will be played as part of of a doubleheader on Thursday, May 7.

Springfield is 8-19 on the season.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Corpus Christi, Mason Molina LHP (0-2, 3.80) vs. Bryce Mayer RHP (0-0, 4.50) 11:15 am CT.

Peoria 5, Wisconsin 3

The Chiefs defeated the Timber Rattlers by a 5-3 score at Dozer Park on Tuesday.

Starter Leonel Sequera pitched four innings, gave up one run on three hits and fanned eight.

Christian Worley relieved Sequera and surrendered one run in the fifth. Patrick Galle yielded one run in two innings and received the win. Gerardo Salas threw a scoreless eighth. Dominic Freeberger tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his third save.

Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Peoria put up three runs in the fourth to take the lead. Raniel Rodriguez thumped a solo home run.

Josh Kross walked. Cade McGee singled. José Suárez singled. Won-Bin Cho plated Kross and McGee on a single.

In the top of the fifth, the Timber Rattlers cut the lead to 3-2.

The Chiefs answered with a run in the home fifth to increase the lead. Rodriguez was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Jésus Báez reached on a fielder’s choice with an error and Rodriguez scored.

Peoria added a fifth run in the sixth to extend the lead to 5-2. Cho walked and stole second base. Tai Peete singled to score Cho.

Wisconsin added one more run in the seventh to bring the final score to 5-3.

The Chiefs scored five runs on nine hits. Cho was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Peete was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Rodriguez scored two runs.

Rodriguez stole his third base of the season. Báez swiped his fifth bag. McGee stole his second base. Cho stole his 10th base. Cho and Báez were also caught stealing.

Báez made a throwing error.

Peoria is 13-14 on the season.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Blake Aita RHP (0-2, 5.59) vs. Wande Torres LHP (1-1, 5.82) 6:35 CT

Palm Beach 1 at Jupiter 13

The Low-A Cardinals were walloped by the Hammerheads in a 13-1 rout at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday.

Starter Jack Martinez pitched three innings, gave up four runs on four hits, walked three and fanned seven. Martinez took the loss.

Robbie Knowles relieved and surrendered three runs in the fourth. Dylan Driessen threw two scoreless innings. Jovi Gálvez yielded two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Antoni Cuello relinquished four runs, three earned while getting just one out. Yordy Herrera collected the final two outs.

Jupiter went up 1-0 in the first inning.

Palm Beach tied the game in the second. Brayden Smith walked and scored on a double by Yordalin Peña. The was the only run the Cardinals scored.

The Hammerheads put up 12 more runs over the next seven innings. They scored three in each of the fourth and fifth innings and six in the eighth.

The Cardinal offense plated one run on two hits. The double by Peña was the only extra base hit. The offense was 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

Smith stole his fifth base. Ryan Weingartner swiped his ninth bag. Ryan Mitchell stole his sixth base. Peña was picked off third base.

Knowles and Weingartner each made a throwing error. Driessen picked a runner off first base.

The Cardinals are 16-12 on the season.

Wednesday’s game: at Jupiter, Jacob Odle RHP (1-2, 3.00) vs. Dameivi Tineo LHP (0-1, 5.40) 5:30 CT.

FCL Cardinals at FCL Nationals (postponed)

This game was postponed due to a venue issue.

The rookie level Cardinals are 0-1 on the season.

Wednesday’s game: at FCL Astros, RH Gabriel Chinchilla (FCL debut) vs. TBD 11:00 am CT.
