Memphis Redbirds (off-day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday, as they headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, to begin a six-game set with the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday.
Memphis is 19-12 on the season, after taking four out of six from Louisville at home. They hold a one-game lead in the International League West Division.
Tuesday’s game: at Charlotte (CWS), RHP Ian Bedell (0-2, 8.59) vs. LHP Tyler Schweitzer (0-1, 5.40) 5:05 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off Monday, as they headed to Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas, for a six-game set with the Arkansas Travelers, beginning Tuesday.
The Cardinals are 12-15 on the season, after dropping four of six to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at home. Springfield is in fourth place in the Texas League North Division, four games back of first.
Tuesday’s game: at Arkansas (SEA), LHP Ixan Henderson (2-1, 2.79) vs. RHP Dylan File (1-1, 5.61) 5:35 PM CT.
Peoria Chiefs (off-day)
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday and will begin a six-game home series at Dozer Park with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Tuesday.
The Chiefs are 8-18 on the season, following the 2-4 series loss to Beloit at home. Peoria sits in fifth place in the Midwest League West Division, 10 games back of first.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Wisconsin (MIL), RHP Cade Winquest (0-2, 4.41) vs. RHP Ryan Birchard (0-2, 3.24) 5:05 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals (off-day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday and will begin a six-game home set with the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, starting Tuesday.
Palm Beach is 14-13 on the season, following being swept in three games at Lakeland. The Cardinals are one game back of first place in the Florida State League East Division.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Jupiter (MIA). RHP Braden Davis (0-0, 3.20) vs. TBA. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
FCL Cardinals 2 at FCL Nationals 8 (7 innings)
The FCL Cardinals fell to the FCL Nationals in a seven-inning contest in West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday.
Yadiel Batista started for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched three innings and allowed four runs on seven hits, no walks, and four strikeouts. Batista took the loss.
Charles Harrison tossed a scoreless inning in relief of Batista. Ruben Menes followed Harrison and yielded four runs, one earned, over two innings of work.
The Cardinals were down 4-0 early but entered the scoring column in the fifth inning. Yancel Guerrero and Paulo Asprilla began with back-to-back singles. Guerrero moved to third base on a double play ball. Hancel Almonte lined his first double of the season to score Guerrero and narrow the gap to 4-1.
The Nationals extended their lead to 8-1 with four runs in the sixth inning.
The Cardinals attempted a final-inning comeback in the seventh. Bracewell Taveras doubled. Asprilla and Yoerny Junco loaded the bases with one out on back-to-back walks. Almonte brought Taveras home on a sac fly.
The Cardinals were unable to rally further and took the loss.
The Cardinals scored two runs on five hits. Almonte was 1-for-2, a double, and two RBI. Taveras doubled and scored a run. Hitters were 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
On defense, shortstop Yairo Padilla made a throwing error. Third baseman Junco made a throwing error. The Cardinals did not steal a base.
The FCL Cardinals are 1-1 on the season. They will return home to Roger Dean Stadium Complex in Jupiter, Florida for a rematch with the FCL Nationals on Tuesday. It will be their first home game of the season.
Tuesday’s game: vs. FCL Nationals (WSH). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
