The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-1 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day Cooper Hjerpe pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in Peoria’s win. Other standouts include Errol Robinson, Luken Baker, Hunter Hayes and Michael Curialle.

The Memphis Redbirds edged the Jumbo Shrimp in a 6-5 contest at AutoZone Park on Wednesday. Starter Michael McGreevy pitched 6 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out three and walked two.
Andre Pallante surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Kyle Leahy allowed one run in the ninth for a blown save but thanks to an offensive comeback, also received the win.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Kramer Robertson doubled and scored on a double by Chase Pinder.
Jacksonville tied the game in the fourth, but the Redbirds took back the lead with one in the fifth. Errol Robinson doubled and Masyn Winn and Oscar Mercado walked. Robinson scored on a double play by Juan Yepez.
The Jumbo Shrimp tied the score again in the sixth. In the seventh, Memphis scored two on a home run by Luken Baker, his league-leading 11th of 2023.

Jacksonville recaptured the lead again with three runs against Pallante and Leahy in the top of the ninth. The Redbirds walked it off in the bottom of the ninth on a two run double by Robinson.

Robinson was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Baker was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kramer Robertson was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
On the base paths, Mercado stole two bases. Robinson stole his second base of the season. Winn stole his ninth base of the season.
In the field, Winn made a throwing error.
Memphis is 20-9 on the season and is in first place in the International League East.
Thursday’s game: vs. Jacksonville, RHP Tommy Parsons (0-0, 3.27) vs. RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez 11:05 a.m. CT.
The Springfield Cardinals lost to the Travelers on Wednesday afternoon at Hammons Field. Starter Wilfredo Pereira pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up three runs, one earned, on four hits, struck out four and walked one.
Ryan Shreve relieved Pereira and surrendered one run in 2/3 of an inning. Edgar Escobar allowed three runs, two earned in the seventh. Andre Granillo tossed the final two scoreless innings. Escobar took the loss.
Springfield took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Arquimedes Gamboa, Justin Toerner and Nick Raposo walked. Nick Dunn singled and the bases cleared on two Arkansas errors.

The score remained 3-0 until the sixth inning when the Travelers took a 4-3 lead. The Cardinals regained the lead in the seventh with via a two-run home run by Mike Antico.
Arkansas quickly answered with three in the eighth to take a 7-5 lead. Springfield failed to answer.
Dunn was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Antico had two RBI.
On the base paths, Gamboa stole his sixth base of the season. In the field, Jose Alvarez made a throwing error and Dunn had a fielding miscue.
Springfield is 10-13 on the season and is in fourth place in the Texas League North, five games back of Arkansas.
Thursday’s game: vs. Arkansas, LHP Kenny Hernandez (2-0, 5.06) vs. Kyle Tyler RHP (0-1, 9.60) 6:35 CT.
The Peoria Chiefs blew past the Timber Rattlers in a four-run victory at Dozer Park on Wednesday. Starter Cooper Hjerpe pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, struck out seven and walked one to earn his second win of the season.
Bryan Pope surrendered two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief. Chris Roycroft tossed a scoreless ninth.
Peoria put up two runs in the second inning to take the lead. Elijah Cabell was hit by a pitch. Thomas Francisco singled, advancing Cabell to third. Osvaldo Tovalin reached on an error and Cabell scored. Luis Rodriguez singled and Francisco was thrown out at home. Francisco Hernandez singled to plate Tovalin.
The Chiefs added three runs in the third on doubles by Jeremy Rivas and Jimmy Crooks, and a single by Francisco. A sixth and final run scored in the fourth when Nathan Church singled, stole second base, then scored on a ground out by Cabell.
Peoria held a 6-0 lead in the eighth inning when Wisconsin finally got on the board with two runs.
Church was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Francisco was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rodriguez was 2-for-3.
On the base paths, Church stole his seventh base of the season. Church was also caught stealing for the fifth time.
Hernandez made a fielding error. Church had an outfield assist at second base.
Peoria is 11-12 on the season and is in third place in the Midwest League West, 4.5 games back of Beloit.
Thursday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Trent Baker RHP (1-1, 4.58) vs. Stiven Cruz RHP (1-0, 3.50) 6:35 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Tortugas by a 5-3 score at Roger Dean Stadium on Wednesday evening. Hunter Hayes pitched six innings, gave up one run on four hits, struck out three and walked two to earn his first win of the season in his first start.
Joseph King relieved Hayes and surrendered two runs, one earned in two innings. Roy Garcia tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his third save.
The Beach Birds took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Chris Rotondo and Won-Bin Cho walked and Leonardo Bernal singled to load the bases. Rotondo scored on a wild pitch.
Palm Beach increased the lead to 4-0 in the second. Brody Moore and Tre Fletcher singled. Brandon Hernandez reached on an error and Moore scored. Cho grounded into a force out and Fletcher crossed the plate. Cho stole second base and came home on a single by Michael Curialle.
The Cardinals added a fifth run in the fourth on a single by Joshua Baez.
Daytona finally got on the board with one run in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Curialle was 4-for-5 with an RBI. Baez was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
On the base paths, Cho stole his seventh base of the season. Moore swiped his first bag. Curialle was caught stealing.
Moore committed a fielding error.
Palm Beach is 13-10 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, one game back of Jupiter.
Thursday’s game: vs. Daytona, Pete Hansen LHP (1-0, 2.79) vs. TBA 5:30 CT.
