The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DH Leonardo Bernal, was 2-for-4 with three RBI including the walk off double for Palm Beach. Other standouts include Tink Hence, Luken Baker and Thomas Francisco.
Results for games played on Tuesday, May 30.
The Memphis Redbirds were edged by the Storm Chasers in a one run road loss on Tuesday. Starter Jake Woodford, making his first rehab start from St. Louis, pitched two innings, gave up two runs on three hits, struck out one and walked one. Woodford took the loss.
Regular starter Connor Thomas relieved Woodford and surrendered five runs, three earned in four innings. Andrew Suarez tossed the final two scoreless innings.
Memphis scored first with one run in the top of the first inning. Masyn Winn led off with a single. Ivan Herrera doubled. Winn came home on a sac fly by Luken Baker.
Omaha answered with two runs in the home half of the first. The Storm Chasers added three runs in the third to lead 5-1.
In the top of the fourth, Luken Baker blasted a two-run home run to cut the lead to 5-3. Omaha scored two in the bottom of the fourth to increase their lead to 7-3.

The Redbirds continued to chip away at the lead. Moises Gomez hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 7-4. In the eighth, Memphis added two more runs on five walks.
Herrera was 2-for-4. Baker had three RBI.
In the field, Thomas and Herrera each made a throwing error. Taylor Motter had a dropped foul error.
Memphis is 27-25 and is tied for fourth place with Columbus in the International League West, four games back of Iowa.
Wednesday’s game: at Omaha, RHP Michael McGreevy (5-0, 2.55) vs. Austin Cox LHP (2-0, 3.13) 7:05 CT
The Springfield Cardinals were defeated by the Sod Poodles in a 7-1 road loss on Tuesday. Starter Logan Gragg pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up five runs, four earned on four hits, struck out six and walked one. Gragg took the loss, his third of the season.
Edgar Escobar relieved Gragg and surrendered two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Jack Ralston tossed a scoreless eighth.
Amarillo got on the board first with one run in the third inning. Springfield scored their only run of the game in the fifth to tie it. Jacob Buchberger singled, stole second base, and advanced to third on a passed ball. Buchberger came home on a sac fly by Irving Lopez.
The Sod Poodles answered with one in the home half of the fifth. Amarillo put the game away by increasing their lead to 7-1 with five runs in the seventh.
The Cardinals offense scored their lone run on three hits, all singles. The offense was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
On the base paths, Buchberger stole his seventh base of the season. In the field, Gragg and Chandler Redmond each made a throwing error.
Springfield is 21-25 on the season and is tied for third place with Wichita in the Texas League North, 9.5 games back of Tulsa.
Wednesday’s game: at Amarillo, RHP Brandon Komar (1-4, 6.15) vs. Luke Albright RHP (3-2, 5.02) 7:05 CT.
Peoria 7 at Wisconsin 8 (10 innings)
In the third one-run game of the evening, the Peoria Chiefs lost at Wisconsin in extra innings after blowing a six-run lead on Tuesday. Starter Tink Hence pitched four scoreless innings, allowed one hit, struck out six and walked three.
The pen did not perform as well as the starter, however. Edgar Manzo surrendered three runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Roy Garcia relinquished three more runs in one inning pitched. Matt Hickey allowed two runs, one earned, in the final 1 2/3 innings.
After three scoreless innings, the Chiefs put up five runs in the fourth to take the lead. Nathan Church singled to start the inning. Aaron McKeithan was hit by a pitch. Jimmy Crooks singled. Jeremy Rivas walked, and Church scored. Osvaldo Tovalin plated McKeithan on a single. Crooks came home on a sac fly by Thomas Francisco. Victor Scott II tripled to score Rivas and Tovalin.
Peoria made it 6-0 in the sixth on a single by Ramon Mendoza, but the Chiefs could not hold the edge.
Wisconsin scored three runs in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-3. In the eighth, a bases loaded walk by Nathan Church gave the Redbirds a 7-3 lead.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Timber Rattlers scored four runs to tie the game.
In extra innings, Wisconsin scored one run in the bottom frame of the 10th to win the game 8-7.
Francisco was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Tovalin was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Crooks was 2-for-5. Scott II had two RBI.
On the base paths, Scott II stole his 32nd base of the season. Scott II was also picked off and caught stealing.
After losing six straight, Peoria is 21-25 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 5 games back of Cedar Rapids.
Wednesday’s game: at Wisconsin, Dionys Rodriguez RHP (1-3, 3.62) vs. Edwin Jimenez RHP (1-1, 1.47) 12:10 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals mounted a ninth inning rally that brought the win over the visiting Tortugas. Starter Hunter Hayes pitched four innings, gave up four runs on six hits, struck out two and walked two.
Tanner Jacobson surrendered one run in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Edwin Nunez tossed the final 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win.
The Beach Birds scored first with one run in the first inning. R. J. Yeager reached on an error and came home on a double by Leonardo Bernal.
Daytona tied the game in the second, then added one run in the third and two in the fourth to lead 4-1. Palm Beach responded with three runs in the home half of the fourth to tie the game at 4-4.
Michael Curialle singled and Won-Bin Cho drew a walk. Chris Rotondo singled to load the bases. Curialle scored on a sac fly by Carlos Linarez. Javier Bolivar plated Cho on a single. Rotondo scored on a double by Alex ladisernia.
The Tortugas quickly pulled ahead 5-4 in the fifth. There the score remained until the bottom of the ninth.
Lizandro Espinoza and Yeager walked. Bernal doubled and both Espinoza and Yeager scored to give the Cardinals the walk off win.

Bernal was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Rotondo was 2-for-4.
On the base paths, Espinoza was picked off first base.
Palm Beach is 27-19 on the season and is in first place in the FSL East.
