The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis’ Michael McGreevy, pitched six one-run innings on six hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Other standouts include Michael Siani, Jimmy Crooks, Matt Koperniak and Chase Davis.

The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Bulls in a 7-2 road win on Wednesday.
Starter Michael McGreevy pitched six innings, gave up one run on six hits, fanned nine and walked one to earn his sixth win.
Nick Anderson relieved McGreevy and threw a scoreless seventh. Andre Granillo surrendered one run in the final two innings.
Memphis immediately got out on top with a leadoff home run by Michael Siani.

The Redbirds added two runs in the third. Brody Moore singled. Bryan Torres bunted into a force out with Moore out at second. Siani doubled. Jimmy Crooks plated Torres and Siani on a single.

The Redbirds made it 4-0 in the fourth. César Prieto singled and stole second base. Moore drove in Prieto on a single.
Durham put up one run in the fifth but Memphis answered with one run in the top of the sixth to widen the lead to 5-1. Ryan Vilade singled. Prieto doubled and Vilade scored.
The Redbirds posted a two-run top of the eighth to lead 7-1. Luken Baker drew a walk and Matt Koperniak followed with a two-run home run. The Bulls scored their second and last run in the bottom of the ninth.

Memphis scored seven runs on nine hits. Siani was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Moore was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Prieto was 2-for-4. Crooks and Koperniak each had two RBI.
On the bases, Prieto stole his fourth base of the season. On defense, Torres made two fielding errors.
Memphis is 29-22 on the season and is in second place in the International League West, 2.5 games back of Nashville.
Thursday’s game: at Durham, Alex Cornwell LHP (1-4, 8.37) vs. Logan Workman RHP (3-2, 3.33) 5:35 CT.
The Double-A Cardinals lost to the Naturals by the score of 7-3 on Wednesday at Hammons Field. Starter Max Rajcic pitched five innings, gave up three runs on eight hits and fanned six.
Nick Raquet relieved Rajcic and threw two scoreless innings. Ricardo Velez surrendered two runs, one earned, in the eighth and took the loss. Sean Harney yielded two runs in the ninth.
Springfield scored a run in the first inning. Nathan Church singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Church came home on a single by Leonardo Bernal.
NW Arkansas put up two runs in the second to take the lead. The Cardinals tied the game with a run in the third. Darlin Moquete walked and stole second base. Bernal walked. Chase Davis plated Moquete on a single.

The Naturals broke the tie with one run in the fifth. The Cardinals tied the game again in the seventh. Moquete was hit by a pitch. Church walked. JJ Wetherholt grounded into a force out and Moquete scored on a throwing error.
NW Arkansas took the lead 5-3 in the eighth and increased the lead to 7-3 in the ninth.
The Cardinals scored three runs on seven hits. Davis was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Moquete scored two runs.
On the bases, Moquete stole his sixth base of the season. Noah Mendlinger was caught stealing. Jeremy Rivas was picked off second base.
On defense, Church made a throwing error.
Springfield is 24-22 on the season and is tied for first place with Arkansas in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: vs. NW Arkansas, Tekoah Roby RHP (1-3, 4.98) vs. TBD (NWA) 7:05 CT.
Peoria 1 at Wisconsin 5 (seven innings)
The High-A Chiefs fell to the Timber Rattlers in a 5-1 rain-shortened contest on Wednesday. Starter Hancel Rincon pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up five runs on six hits, fanned five and walked two. Rincon took the loss.
Benjamin Arias relieved Rincon and threw the final 2/3 of a scoreless inning.
Wisconsin went up 1-0 in the fourth inning. The Chiefs tied the game in the top of the fifth. Brayden Jobert singled. Miguel Villarroel singled and Jobert scored on a throwing error.
The Timber Rattlers retook the lead 2-1 in the home fifth. They added three runs in the sixth for the final 5-1 edge.
Peoria scored one run on five hits. No hitter had multiples. The Chiefs were 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. In their defense, Peoria hitters were facing Brandon Woodruff, a rehabbing major league pitcher, the entire game.
On the bases, Villarroel stole two. Ian Petrutz was picked off first base.
Peoria is 18-28 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 11 games back of Quad Cities.
Thursday’s game: at Wisconsin, Gerardo Salas RHP (1-4, 8.92) vs. Ryan Birchard RHP (1-2, 3.34) 6:40 CT
The Low-A Cardinals fell to the Mets by a 7-2 score in St. Lucie on Wednesday. Starter Brandt Thompson pitched six innings, gave up four runs on five hits, struck out three and walked one. Thompson took the loss.
Christian Worley relieved Thompson and surrendered one run in the seventh. Mason Burns yielded two runs in the eighth.
St. Lucie went up 1-0 in the first inning. The Beach Birds tied the game in the second. Cade McGee singled and stole second base. Sammy Hernandez reached on an error and McGee scored.
The Mets regained the lead with two runs in the fourth. Palm Beach added a run in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2. Heriberto Caraballo singled. Deniel Ortiz singled. Caraballo came home on a wild pitch.
St. Lucie answered with single runs in the home fifth and seventh plus two runs in the eighth to run up the score to 7-2.
The Cardinals scored two runs on five hits. Bryce Madron was 2-for-4. The offense was 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
On the bases, McGee stole his 10th base of the season. Madron was caught stealing. On defense, Ortiz made a throwing error.
Palm Beach is 22-25 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, four games back of St. Lucie.
Thursday’s game: at St. Lucie, RHP Leonel Sequera (0-4, 3.75) vs. Channing Austin RHP (1-2, 5.14) 5:10 CT.
FCL Cardinals vs. FCL Astros (suspended)
Wednesday’s Florida Complex League game was suspended in the bottom of the third inning due to inclement weather with the Cardinals up 2-1 over the Astros. The game will be resumed on Tuesday, June 3 as part of a doubleheader.
The Cardinals are 8-8 on the season and are in third place in the Florida Complex League East, 2.5 games behind the Astros.
