The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, FCL C Rainiel Rodriguez, was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Other standouts include Graysen Tarlow, Paulo Asprilla and Yoerny Junco.

Memphis at Durham – Off
Memphis is 28-22 for the season and is tied for third place with Indianapolis in the International League West, 2.5 games back of Nashville.
Wednesday’s game: at Durham, Michael McGreevy RHP (5-1, 3.22) vs. TBD (DUR) 5:35 CT.
Springfield vs. NW Arkansas – postponed
The series-opening game at Hammons Field was postponed due to inclement weather and will be made up on Friday, May 30 as part of a doubleheader.
Springfield is 23-22 on the season and is tied for first place with Arkansas in the Texas League North.
Wednesday’s game: vs. NW Arkansas, RH Max Rajcic (1-3, 4.98) vs. TBD (NWA) 7:05 CT.
The Chiefs were edged by the Timber Rattlers in a 5-4 walkoff loss on Tuesday. Starter Jose Davila pitched five innings, gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits, struck out one and walked two.
Angel Gonzalez relieved Davila and surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings. Michael Watson threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Tanner Jacobson yielded the deciding run in the ninth and took the loss.
Against Milwaukee MLB rehabber Jose Quintana, Peoria took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Jon Jon Gazdar singled, stole second base, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Joshua Baez. Baez stole second base. In his Peoria debut, Travis Honeyman plated Baez on a single. Ian Petrutz singled. Honeyman came home on a single by Brayden Jobert.
Wisconsin scored one run in each of the second, third, and fourth innings to tie the game at 3-3. Peoria broke the tie with one run in the sixth to lead 4-3. Brayden Jobert walked. Miguel Villarroel singled. Graysen Tarlow drove in Jobert on a single.
The Timber Rattlers tied the game again in the seventh and walked off the 5-4 win in the ninth.
The Chiefs scored four runs on eight hits. Tarlow was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the bases, Gazdar stole his 11th base of the season. Baez swiped his 20th bag. Jobert and Zach Levenson were both caught stealing.
On defense, Honeyman made a fielding error.
Peoria is 18-27 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 10.5 games back of Quad Cities.
Wednesday’s game: at Wisconsin, Hancel Rincon RHP (1-0, 3.58) vs. Brandon Woodruff RHP (1-1, 2.79) 12:10 CT.
The Class-A Cardinals fell to the Mets in a 6-2 contest on Tuesday in St. Lucie. Starter Tink Hence, on a rehab assignment from Memphis, pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, struck out one and walked two. The rust showed as the right-hander threw just 21 strikes in 42 pitches.
Charles Harrison relieved Hence and finished a clean third inning. Nolan Sparks surrendered six runs, five earned, in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss. Yordy Herrera tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless frames.
The Beach Birds went up 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Christian Martin reached on an error and stole second base. Josh Kross singled. Luis Pino drew a walk. As Yordalin Pena grounded into a force out, Martin crossed the plate.
The Mets tied the game in the home fourth.
In the top of the seventh, Palm Beach took a 2-1 lead on a solo home run by Pino. The Mets quickly answered with a five-run bottom of the seventh to take control at 6-2.
The Cardinals scored two runs on four hits. No Cardinal had multiple hits. The offense was 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
On the bases, Martin stole his 12th base of the season. Pena was caught stealing. On defense, Anyelo Encarnacion and Sammy Hernandez both made fielding errors. Sparks had two errors, one throwing and one missed catch. Hernandez picked a runner off third base.
Palm Beach is 22-24 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, 3 games back of St. Lucie.
Wednesday’s game: at St. Lucie, RHP Brandt Thompson (1-2, 3.47) vs. Franklin Gomez LHP (0-1, 3.86) 12:10 CT.
FCL Cardinals 12 at FCL Mets 4
The rookie Cardinals walloped the Mets in 12-4 blowout on Tuesday. Starter Bernard Mack pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on four hits, fanned four and walked two.
Antoni Cuello relieved Mack and threw 1 1/3 scoreless inning to earn the win. Yadiel Batista surrendered one run in the final four innings and earned his first save.
The Cardinals took the lead 1-0 in the first inning. Facundo Velasquez singled, stole second base, and advanced to third on a throwing error. Velasquez scored on a ground out by Bracewell Taveras.
The Cardinals added a run in the second. Yancel Guerrero walked and stole second base. Yoerny Junco plated Guerrero on a single.
The Mets scored one run in the third and two in the fourth to take the lead 3-2. The Cardinals answered with three runs in the fifth to regain the lead 5-3. Velasquez walked and came home on a double by Raniel Rodriguez. Taveras singled. Andru Arthur walked. Paulo Asprilla plated Rodriguez and Taveras on a single.
The Cardinals added two runs in the sixth to increase the lead to 7-3. Junco drew a walk. Daniel Rojas singled. Junco and Rojas had a double steal as Junco scored on a throwing error and Rojas advanced to third. Velasquez walked and stole second. Rojas scored on a sac fly by Rodriguez.
The Cardinals made it 8-3 in the seventh. Asprilla singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Junco drove in Asprilla on a triple.
They added their final four runs in the top of the eighth to lead 12-3. Rodriguez singled. Arthur walked. Asprilla reached on an error and Rodriguez scored. Arthur came home on a single by Guerrero. Aprilla scored on a passed ball. Hancel Almonte plated Guerrero on a single.
The Mets scored their final run in the home eighth.
The Cardinals scored 12 runs on 14 hits. Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Asprilla was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Junco was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Guerrero was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Velasquez stole two bases. Guerrero swiped his fifth bag. Junco stole his second base. Rojas stole his fourth base. Junco and Rojas were both caught stealing.
On defense, Rodriguez was charged with catcher interference. Mack made an error on a pickoff.
The Cardinals are 8-8 on the season and are in third place in the Florida Complex League East, 2.5 games back of the FCL Astros.
