Cardinals Minor League Notebook – May 27, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 4-0 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day are the Memphis offense, which scored 19 runs. Joshua Báez led the way with two home runs and five RBI. Blaze Jordan and Ramon Mendoza also excelled. Other standouts include Mason Molina, Noah Mendlinger, Zach Levenson, José Suárez and Michael Dattalo.

Memphis 19 at Omaha 5

The Redbirds walloped the Storm Chasers by the score of 19-5 on Tuesday.

Starter Hunter Dobbins pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up one run on six hits, walked two and fanned seven.

Luis Gastelum relieved Dobbins and threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the win. Cade Winquest surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings. Jared Shuster yielded three runs in the final 1 1/3 innings.

Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Colton Ledbetter. Omaha tied the game in the second.

The Redbirds added three runs in the third to lead 4-1. Jeremy Rivas singled and stole second base. Joshua Báez followed with a two-run home run. Blaze Jordan doubled and scored on a single by Bligh Madris.

In the fourth, Memphis put up nine runs to run up the score to 13-1. Matt Koperniak singled. Ramon Mendoza hit a two-run home run. Rivas and Ledbetter singled. Báez followed with a three-run home run. Jimmy Crooks doubled. Jordan singled. Madris singled to score Crooks. Nelson Velázquez doubled to plate Jordan. Madris scored on a ground out by Koperniak. Mendoza drove in Velázquez on a ground out.

In the top of the eighth, the Redbirds scored three more runs to lead 16-1. Crooks was hit by a pitch. Jordan doubled. Madris reached on a fielder’s choice. Crooks was out at home. Velázquez to score Jordan. Koperniak walked. Mendoza doubled to plate Madris and Velázquez.

Omaha answered with a run in the home half of the eighth to cut the lead to 16-2. Memphis scored three more runs in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to 19-2. Báez singled. Crooks walked. Jordan hit a three-run home run.

The Storm Chasers scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to shrink the final score to 19-5.

The offense scored 19 runs on 21 hits. Báez was 4-for-6 with five RBI and three runs scored. Jordan was 4-for-6 with three RBI and four runs scored. Mendoza was 2-for-5 with five RBI. Madris was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Velázquez was 2-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Ledbetter was 2-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored. Koperniak was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Rivas was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Crooks scored two runs.

Rivas stole his first base for Memphis.

Memphis is 31-21 on the season and are tied with Nashville for second place in the International League.

Wednesday’s game: at Omaha, Quinn Mathews LHP (1-3, 5.55) vs. Ethan Bosacker RHP (1-1, 5.48) 6:35 CT.

Springfield 8, Wichita 5

The Cardinals defeated the Wind Surge by the score of 8-5 on Tuesday in Springfield.

Starter Mason Molina pitched five innings, gave up one run on one hit, walked four and fanned eight to earn his first win for Springfield.

Chen-Wei Lin relieved Molina and surrendered four runs in 3 1/3 innings. D.J Carpenter threw the final 2/3 of a scoreless inning to earn his first Double-A save.

Springfield went up 2-0 in the third inning. Dakota Harris singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Noah Mendlinger singled. Lars Nootbaar, in his first rehab game in Springfield, doubled to plate Harris. Mendlinger scored on a ground out by Miguel Ugueto.

The Cardinals added two runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 4-0. Trey Paige hit a solo home run. Harris doubled and scored on a single by Mendlinger.

Wichita got on the board with a run in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 4-1. Springfield answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to lead 5-1. Ugueto singled and stole second base. Miguel Villarroel singled to score Ugueto.

In the top of the eighth, the Wind Surge shrunk the gap to 5-3. The Cardinals responded with a three-run bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 8-3. Harris walked. Mendlinger doubled. Zach Levenson, pinch hitting for Nootbaar, blasted a three-run home run.

Wichita rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth to cut the final score to 8-4.

The Cardinals scored eight runs on 12 hits. Mendlinger was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Ugueto was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Harris was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Levenson had three RBI.

Ugueto stole his 18th base of the season. Travis Honeyman had an outfield assist at second base.

Springfield is 20-27 on the season. They are in last place in the Texas League North.

Wednesday’s game: Off.

Peoria 5 at Wisconsin 2 (seven innings)

The Chiefs beat the Timber Rattlers in a rain shortened game on Tuesday. Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on seven hits, walked two and fanned seven.

Gerardo Salas relieved Fajardo and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Dominic Freeberger tossed the final 2/3 of a scoreless inning.

Peoria went up 1-0 in the first inning on a solo home run by Jesús Báez. Wisconsin tied the game in the third.

The Chiefs regained the lead with two runs in the fourth to make it 3-1. Cameron Nickens walked and José Suárez followed with a two-run home run.

Peoria added a run in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 4-1. Won-Bin Cho was hit by a pitch. Cameron Nickens singled, advancing Cho to third. Suárez plated Cho on a single.

The Timber Rattlers scored one run in the home fifth to cut the lead to 4-2. Peoria answered with a run in the sixth on a solo home run by Jalin Flores to extend the lead to 5-2.

The offense scored five runs on 10 hits. Suárez was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Flores was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jack Gurevitch was 2-for-4. Nickens was 2-for-3.

Gurevitch stole his second base of the season. Fajardo picked a runner off first base.

Peoria is 21-24 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Midwest League West.

Wednesday’s games:  at Wisconsin, Ty Van Dyke RHP (0-1, 7.36) vs. J.D. Thompson LHP (0-0, 5.68) 12:10 CT (game one); at Wisconsin, Nate Dohm LHP (0-1, 10.53) vs. Braylon Owens RHP (1-0, 3.47) (game two).

Palm Beach 5, Lakeland 4

The Cardinals edged the Lakeland Flying Tigers in a 5-4 walkoff win at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday.

Starter Alex Breckheimer pitched five innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked two and struck out three.

Justin Militello relieved Breckheimer and surrendered three runs in the sixth. Jovi Gálvez threw a scoreless seventh. Dylan Driessen hurled 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Jesús Garcia tossed the final 2/3 of a scoreless inning and received the win.

The Cardinals took the lead in the first inning. Brayden Smith singled and later scored on a double by Michael Dattalo. They added two runs in the third to lead 3-0. Facundo Velásquez walked. Smith singled. Ryan Mitchell walked. Dattalo singled to score Velásquez. Smith came home on a walk by Yordalin Peña.

The Flying Tigers cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth inning. Lakeland took the lead 4-3 with a three-run sixth.

In the seventh, the Beach Birds tied the game at 4-4 on a solo home run by Ryan Weingartner. Palm Beach took the lead 5-4 in the ninth. Weingartner singled. Mitchell singled. Dattalo singled to plate Weingartner for the walkoff win.

The Cardinals scored five runs on 11 hits. Dattalo was 4-for-5 with three RBI. Weingartner was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Smith was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Mitchell was 2-for-4.

Smith stole his 11th base of the season. Peña had an outfield assist at home plate.

The Cardinals are 25-21 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Lakeland, TBD (PB) vs. Cash Kuiper RHP (0-2, 7.04) 5:30 CT.

Florida Complex League Cardinals – Off day

The rookie Cardinals did not play on Tuesday. They are 5-11 on the season and are tied for fourth/fifth/last place in the FCL East.
