Memphis 6 at Nashville 10

Rangel Ravelo (Steve Mitchell/Imagn)

The Redbirds fell to the Sounds in Nashville on Friday.  Starter Jake Woodford had a tough outing, pitching five innings and giving up five runs on three hits.  The right hander fanned five and walked six.  Ryan Meisinger relieved in the sixth and allowed one run on two hits.  Meisinger was tagged with a blown save.  Chasen Shreve made a bad situation worse in the seventh, surrendering four runs while recording only one out.  Chris Beck finished the seventh and returned to pitch a scoreless eighth.  Shreve took the loss.

The Redbirds scored all six of their runs in the second inning.  Andrew Knizner and Drew Robinson reached base on singles, while Adolis Garcia got on base on a fielder’s choice with a fielding error.  With the bases loaded, Ramon Urias drew a walk to plate the first run.  Max Schrock doubled to score Robinson and Garcia. Urias came home on a sac fly by Tommy Edman.  Rangel Ravelo then hit a two run home run that brought the score to 6-0 Memphis.  The Sounds would score in the bottom of the second and again in the third, sixth, and seventh inning to win the game 10-6.

No Redbird had more than one hit.  The two extra base hits were the Schrock double and the Ravelo long ball. The latter extended his hitting streak to 19 games, one short of a share of the team record.

Robinson and Tyler O’Neill each had an outfield assist.

Memphis is 23-25 on the season and in second place in the PCL American North, 5.5 games behind the Iowa Cubs.

Randy Arozarena was caught stealing for the second time.  Chris Chinea made a fielding miscue. Alberto Triunfel committed a missed catch error.  Both Warner and Fernandez picked a runner off first base.
