The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-3 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield LF Noah Mendlinger, was 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored. Other standouts include Tre Richardson, Jason Savacool, Jacob Odle, Yairo Padilla and Rainiel Rodriguez.

The Triple-A Redbirds lost to the Jumbo Shrimp by the score of 3-1 on Friday. Stater Alex Cornwell pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on five hits, fanned four and walked three. Cornwell took the loss.
Ryan Fernandez relieved Cornwell and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Nick Anderson tossed a scoreless eighth.
Jacksonville went up 2-0 in the first inning. Memphis cut the lead to 2-1 in the fifth. Brody Moore drew a walk, then advanced to second on a ground out by Mike Antico. Moore stole third base and came home on a single by Matt Koperniak.
The Jumbo Shrimp added a third run in the sixth.
Memphis scored one run on two hits, singles by Koperniak and Antico. The offense was 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
On the bases, Antico stole his fifth base of the season. Moore swiped his second bag. Bryan Torres was caught stealing.
On defense, Moore was charged with interference. Michael Siani had an outfield assist at second base.
Memphis is 25-22 on the season and is in fifth place in the International League West, four games back of Indianapolis.
Saturday’s game: at Jacksonville, Drew Rom LHP (0-0, 0.00) vs. Robinson Piña RHP (3-2, 3.62) 5:35 CT.
Springfield 9 at Tulsa 8 (10 innings)
The Double-A Cardinals edged the Drillers in 10 innings on Friday for their sixth consecutive win. Starter Leonardo Taveras pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up five runs on five hits, struck out two and walked one.
Zane Mills relieved Taveras and surrendered one run in 3 1/3 innings. Edwin Nuñez yielded one run in 1 1/3 innings. Ricardo Velez allowed one unearned run in the final two innings and received the win.
Springfield took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Nathan Church singled and stole second base. Jeremy Rivas walked. R.J. Yeager singled. Noah Mendlinger plated Church on a single. Dakota Harris grounded into a force out with Rivas out at home. Ramon Mendoza walked and Yeager scored. Mendlinger scored on a force out by Miguel Ugueto, who was fresh off the injured list.
Tulsa tied the game in the third inning and added three runs in the fourth to lead 6-3. Springfield answered with one run in the fifth. Rivas walked. Yeager singled. Rivas came home on a single by Mendlinger.
In the top of the eighth, the Cardinals scored two runs to tie the game. Mendlinger walked and stole second. Harris walked. The runners advanced on a fly out by Mendoza. Mendlinger scored on a sac fly by Ugueto. Darlin Moquete plated Harris on a single.
The Drillers made it 7-6 in the home eighth. Springfield tied it again in the ninth. Carlos Linarez and Church singled. Yeager plated Linarez on single.
In the top of the 10th, the Cardinals put up two runs to take the lead 9-7. Harris started on second base. Mendoza grounded out. Chase Davis walked. Linarez singled to score Harris. Davis scored on a single by Church.

Tulsa rallied for one run in the bottom of the 10th but fell short, giving the Cardinals the 9-8 win.
The offense scored nine runs on 12 hits. Mendlinger was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Church was 3-for-6 with an RBI. Yeager was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Linarez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Ugueto had two RBI.
Church stole his fifth base of the season. Mendlinger swiped his fourth bag. Moquete was caught stealing.
On defense, Ugueto and Rivas both made fielding errors.
Springfield is 23-20 on the season and is tied for second place with Wichita in the Texas League North, one game back of Arkansas.
Saturday’s game: at Tulsa, LHP Ixan Henderson (3-1, 2.40) vs. Chris Campos RHP (1-1, 4.54) 7:00 CT.
Peoria 5, Dayton 6 (10 innings)
The High-A Chiefs lost to the Dragons in 10 innings at Dozer Park on Friday.
Starter Gerardo Salas pitched four innings, gave up three runs on four hits, fanned six and walked two.
Tanner Jacobson relieved Salas and threw three scoreless innings on one hit. Benjamin Arias hurled two scoreless frames. Dionys Rodriguez surrendered three runs, two earned, in the 10th and took the loss.
Peoria went up 1-0 in the first inning. Jon Jon Gazdar singled. Won-Bin Cho walked. Zach Levenson drove in Gazdar on a single.
Dayton took the lead with two runs in the third and added a run in the top of the fourth to increase the lead to 3-1.
The Chiefs put up two runs in the home fourth to tie the game. Michael Curialle singled. Tre Richardson followed with a two-run home run.

The game stayed tied through regulation. In the top of the 10th, the Dragons scored three times. Peoria’s rally of two runs left them a run short. Levenson started the inning on second. Curialle singled to score Levenson. Richardson singled. Gazdar plated Curialle on a single.
Peoria scored five runs on 13 hits. Richardson was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Curialle was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Leadoff man Gazdar was 4-for-6 with an RBI.
On the bases, Brayden Jobert stole his fifth base of the season. On defense, Curialle made a fielding error. Ryan Campos had a passed ball.
Peoria is 17-25 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 9.5 games back of Quad Cities.

Palm Beach 1, Daytona 3 (10 innings)
The Class-A Cardinals fell to the Tortugas in a 3-1 extra inning contest on Friday.
Starter Jason Savacool pitched six scoreless innings, allowed four hits and struck out two.
Christian Worley relieved Savacool and threw two scoreless innings. Mason Burns surrendered the tying run in the ninth for a blown save. Ernie Day yielded two runs, one earned, in 2/3 of an inning and took the loss. Angel Cuenca got the final out of the 10th.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning. Jose Suarez singled and scored on a double by Deniel Ortiz.
Palm Beach scored one run on five hits. Ortiz was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Travis Honeyman was 2-for-4.
Luis Pino stole his second base of the season. Yordalin Pena swiped his seventh bag. Ortiz was caught stealing.
On defense, Anyelo Encarnacion made a throwing error. Savacool picked a runner off first base.
Palm Beach is 22-21 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, a game back of St. Lucie.

FCL Cardinals 6, FCL Marlins 3
The rookie-level Cardinals defeated the Marlins by a 6-3 score in Jupiter on Friday.
Starter Jacob Odle pitched two scoreless, hitless innings with five strikeouts and one walk.
Keiverson Ramirez relieved Odle and surrendered one run in three innings to earn his first win. Juan Severino yielded one run in the sixth. Antoni Cuello allowed one run in the seventh. Giovanni Vargas tossed a scoreless eighth.
The Marlins took 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The Cardinals answered with five runs in the home third. Andru Arthur singled. Yairo Padilla grounded into a force out with Arthur out at second. Padilla stole second base. Raniel Rodriguez hit a two-run home run. Yancel Guerrero singled. Yoerny Junco doubled to score Guerrero. Daniel Rojas plated Junco on a single. Alejandro Loaiza drove in Rojas on a double.
The Marlins made it 5-2 in the top of the sixth. The Cardinals responded with a run in the home sixth. Rodriguez walked and stole second base. Guerrero singled and Rodriguez scored on a throwing error.
The Marlins shrunk the score to 6-3 in the eighth.
The Cardinals scored six runs on 11 hits. Loaiza was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Guerrero was 2-for-5. Romtres Cabrera was 2-for-3. Rodriguez had two RBI and two runs scored.
Padilla walked twice, stole five bases and scored a run. Guerrero swiped two bags. Cabrera and Rodriguez each stole their first base. Arthur was caught stealing.
The Cardinals are 6-8 on the season and are tied with the Mets for last place in the Florida Complex League East, 3.5 games back of the FCL Astros.
