The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day Cooper Hjerpe pitched a no-hitter for six innings, struck out five and issued three walks in Peoria’s win. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Ivan Herrera, Chandler Redmond and Hunter Hayes.

Memphis 12, Norfolk 13 (11 innings)
The Memphis Redbirds lost a hard-fought slugfest with the Norfolk Tides that went into extra innings at AutoZone Park. Starter Zack Thompson pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up six runs, five earned, on five hits, struck out five and walked four.
Grant Black relieved Thompson and threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Kodi Whitley surrendered four runs in 1 2/3 innings. Ryan Loutos hurled 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Jake Walsh allowed one run in the ninth. JoJo Romero relinquished one run in the 10th. Guillermo Zuniga gave up the winning run in the 11th.
The game began with Norfolk putting up two runs in the top of the first to take the lead. Memphis answered with four runs in the home first, on two-run long balls by Ivan Herrera and Jordan Walker.
The Redbirds extended their lead to 6-2 in the second on a two-run single by Luken Baker.

Norfolk came back to tie the game in the top of the third. Memphis scored one run in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead 7-6.
In the sixth, the Tides scored four runs to lead 10-7. Two innings later Memphis put up four runs to go up 11-10. The inning began with singles by Kramer Robertson and Matt Koperniak. Herrera tripled to plate Robertson and Koperniak. Herrera scored on a Baker double. Jordan Walker singled and Baker scored.
Norfolk tied the game at 11-11 in the ninth. In the top of the 10th, the Tides pushed a run across to lead 12-11. The Redbirds responded with a score in the bottom frame of the 10th to tie it 12-12 on a Baker single.
The Tides made it 13-12 in the 11th. Memphis could not answer.
The Redbirds scored 12 runs on 15 hits. Baker was 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Herrera was 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Walker was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Robertson was 2-for-5. Masyn Winn was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.
On the base paths, Juniel Querecuto stole his sixth base of the season. Robertson was caught stealing for the third time. Walker was picked off first base.
In the field, Herrera made a throwing error. Baker had a fielding miscue.
Memphis is 25-21 on the season and is in second place in the International League West, 2.5 games back of Iowa.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Norfolk, LHP Connor Thomas (4-2, 4.29) vs. Cole Irvin LHP (4-1, 3.19) 12:05 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals blew past the Wind Surge in an 8-3 contest at Hammons Field on Tuesday. Starter Kenny Hernandez pitched five innings, gave up three runs on seven hits, struck out six and walked one to earn his fourth win of the season.
Ryan Shreve threw two scoreless innings of relief. Andre Granillo hurled a scoreless eighth and Logan Sawyer tossed a scoreless ninth.
Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Chandler Redmond. The Cardinals increased the lead to 4-1 in the third on a three-run home run by Nick Dunn.

Wichita came back in the fourth and scored three to cut the lead to 4-3. In the sixth, an RBI double by Justin Toerner made it 5-3.
Redmond blasted a three-run home run in the seventh to cement the 8-3 win.

Redmond was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. His 16 home runs lead the Texas League. Toerner was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Irving Lopez was 3-for-4. Pedro Pages was 2-for-4. Mike Antico was 2-for-5. Dunn had three RBI.
On the base paths, Antico was picked off first base. In the field, Jacob Buchberger had a fielding error.
Springfield is 18-22 on the season and is in last place in the Texas League North, 7 games back of Arkansas.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Wichita, Logan Gragg RHP (0-1, 7.71) vs. Blayne Enlow RHP (1-1, 3.28) 6:35 CT.
The Peoria Chiefs pulled off a last minute ninth inning rally on Tuesday to defeat the visiting Great Lakes Loons. Starter Cooper Hjerpe pitched six scoreless, hitless innings, struck out five and walked three.
Bryan Pope relieved Hjerpe and surrendered two runs, one earned in the final three innings of the game. Pope received the win, his first of the season.
The game was scoreless for seven innings. Great Lakes scored one run in the eighth and another in the ninth for a 2-0 lead.
Peoria rallied in the bottom of the ninth to score three runs and win in a walk off. The inning began with a single by Victor Scott II. Darlin Moquete was hit by a pitch. Nathan Church singled, and Scott II scored. Moquete scored on a sac fly by Aaron McKeithan. Jeremy Rivas plated Church on a bunt single to end it.
Church was 2-for-4 with an RBI, extending his on-base streak to 12 games. All six Peoria hits were singles.
On the base paths, Scott II and Thomas Francisco each were caught stealing. Scott II was picked off first base.
In the field, Francisco Hernandez and Jimmy Crooks each made a throwing error. Crooks had a passed ball.
Peoria is 21-19 on the season and is in fourth place in the Midwest League West, two games back of Beloit.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Great Lakes, Tink Hence RHP (0-1, 2.63) vs. Ronan Kopp LHP (0-1, 2.63) 6:35 CT.
Palm Beach 0, Tampa 2 (11 innings)
The Palm Beach Cardinals were blanked by the Tarpons in an extra innings contest at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday. Starter Hunter Hayes pitched six scoreless innings, allowed three hits, struck out three and walked two.
Jose Davila threw three scoreless innings of relief. Edwin Nunez pitched the final two innings, and in the 11th, surrendered two runs, one unearned, to take the loss.
The game was scoreless through the regulation nine innings. Neither team scored in the 10th. Tampa pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the 11th. The Beach Birds were unable to answer.
The Palm Beach offense scattered five hits. Alex ladisernia was 2-for-4. Michael Curialle was 2-for-5. The offense was 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
On the base paths, ladisernia stole his seventh base of the season. In the field, Leonardo Bernal picked a runner off second base.
Palm Beach is 24-16 on the season and is in first place in the FSL East.
