The St. Louis Cardinals system went 1-3 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Mike Antico, went 3-for-4 with two walks, a home run, three RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Other standouts include Irving Lopez, Nick Dunn and Darlin Moquete.

The Memphis Redbirds (25-20) fell to the Gwinnett Stripers (ATL, 20-24) on Sunday at AutoZone Park.
Dakota Hudson surrendered three runs, one earned, on a hit and two walks in two innings. In his first start since April 19th, the right-hander took his second loss. Tommy Parsons was touched for two runs, one earned, in 2 2/3 innings. The 27-year-old fanned two.
The only Redbirds run came in the ninth inning off the bat of Masyn Winn. TCN’s no. 2 prospect grounded into a forceout to make the score 7-1.
Andrew Suárez tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings with a strikeout. JoJo Romero pitched a scoreless eighth inning with one strikeout. Guillermo Zuñiga yielded a run in the ninth.
Jordan Walker and Nick Raposo recorded two hits apiece. Walker had the only extra base hit, a double. The lineup went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.
Errol Robinson and Taylor Motter both committed throwing errors.
Memphis went 1-5 against the Stripers this week. They dropped to second place in the International League West.

Springfield 16 at NW Arkansas 6
With a five-home run performance, the Springfield Cardinals (17-22) destroyed the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (KC, 18-21) at Arvest Ballpark on Sunday.
In a bullpen game, Jose Martinez pitched three innings and gave up a run on three hits and three walks. Nick Trogrlic-Iverson surrendered four runs, three earned, in 1 2/3 innings.
After the Naturals scored a run in the second, Nick Dunn blasted a solo homer in the fourth, his first of the season. Noah Mendlinger added a two-run home run in the sixth. Mike Antico hit a go-ahead three run shot to make the score 6-5. Chandler Redmond hit his 14th homer of the season in the seventh.
Edgar Escobar earned his fifth win of 2023 after he yielded a run in 2 1/3 innings. Andre Granillo struck out three in the eighth inning. Jack Ralston threw a scoreless ninth.
The Cardinals put up nine runs in the eighth to put the game away. Irving Lopez and Jose Alvarez each singled to plate a run. Redmond and Dunn each plated a run via sacrifice fly. Mendlinger added a run to make the score 12-6. Lopez topped it off with a grand slam, his third homer of the year.
Wade Stauss recorded three hits. Dunn walked, tripled and homered. Five different Cardinals hit home runs. Antico went 3-for-4 with two walks, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
On the base paths, Antico took two bags and has 10 this year.
Springfield went 3-3 against Northwest Arkansas this week. They are in last place and eight games back in the Texas League North.

The Peoria Chiefs (20-19) were defeated by the Cedar Rapids Kernels (MIN, 22-17) at PG Cares Field on Sunday afternoon.
Starter Ian Bedell gave up a run in four innings. TCN’s no. 15 prospect yielded two hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
The Chiefs scored their only two runs in the first inning. Jimmy Crooks walked with the bases loaded. Osvaldo Tovalin brought in Nathan Church (walk) via sacrifice fly. Despite four consecutive walks in the first, Peoria did not score any more runs all day.
Gustavo Rodriguez took his first High-A loss after he surrendered two runs in two innings. Matt Hickey was touched for a run in the final two innings on two hits and two strikeouts.
Thomas Francisco had the only hit for Peoria. Victor Scott II and Church had two walks and a run scored EACH. Aaron McKeithan and Crooks walked. The lineup went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
Scott took his 31st bag of the season. TCN’s no. 16 prospect leads professional baseball in stolen bases.
The Chiefs went 2-4 against the Kernels this week and are in fourth place in the Midwest League West.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (24-15) were topped by the St. Lucie Mets (NYM, 10-29) on Sunday afternoon at Clover Park.
Cade Winquest was charged with three runs in 5 1/3 innings and took his second loss of the season. The 23-year-old yielded four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
The Mets scored three runs in the first two innings. The Cardinals answered as Adanson Cruz scored a run via sacrifice fly. Darlin Moquete blasted his second homer of the season in the fifth to make the score 3-2.
Angel Cuenca tossed 1 2/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts. John Lynch surrendered a run in an inning on two hits and a walk.
The Beach Birds had eight hits and three walks. Won-Bin Cho recorded the only multi-hit game with two. Moquete homered and walked. The lineup went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base.
Moquete stole his third bag of the year. Cho, Lynch and Lizandro Espinoza all committed an error.
Palm Beach went 4-2 against St. Lucie this week. They are in first place in the Florida State League East.
