The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach’s Jacob Odle, pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings with only three hits allowed and eight strikeouts. Other standouts include Brycen Mautz, Jimmy Crooks and Brayden Smith.

The Triple-A Redbirds beat the Cubs by a 6-3 score on Tuesday in Des Moines.
Starter Brycen Mautz pitched four innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked two and fanned five.
Ryan Murphy relieved Mautz and surrendered one run in the fifth. Scott Blewett threw a scoreless sixth for his fourth win. Ryan Fernandez yielded one run in two innings. Max Rajcic tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth save.
Memphis went up 1-0 in the first inning. Bryan Torres singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jimmy Crooks singled to plate Torres.

Iowa tied the game in the third. The Redbirds regained the lead in the top of the fifth with one run to make it 2-1. Crooks singled. Blaze Jordan walked. Bligh Madris walked. Colton Ledbetter walked and Crooks came home.
The Cubs tied the game again in the home fifth. Memphis took the lead again in the seventh with a third run. Madris walked. Nelson Velázquez singled. Colton Ledbetter singled. Brody Moore flied into a sacrifice double play and Madris scored.
In the top of the eighth, the Redbirds increased the lead to 4-2. Joshua Báez walked and stole second base. Leo Bernal walked. Báez scored on a force out by Blaze Jordan.
The Cubs answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth to close the gap to 4-3. In the ninth, Memphis put up two more runs to go ahead for good 6-3. Velázquez walked. Ledbetter singled. Both runners advanced on a sac bunt by Moore and Moore reached first on an error. Báez walked, scoring Velázquez. Ledbetter came home on a sac fly by Bernal.
The offense scored six runs on 10 hits. Crooks was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ledbetter was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Velázquez was 2-for-4.
Torres stole his 10th base of the season. Ledbetter swiped his seventh bag. Báez stole his eighth base.
Memphis is 28-18 on the season and is in first place in the International League.
Wednesday’s game: at Iowa, RHP Hunter Dobbins (3-0, 3.78) vs. LHP Doug Nikhazy, 12:08 CT.
Springfield at Arkansas (postponed)
Tuesday’s series opener at Arkansas was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as one game of a doubleheader on Wednesday, May 20.
Springfield is 16-23 on the season. They are in last place in the Texas League North.
Wednesday’s game: at Arkansas, Mason Molina LHP (0-2, 3.94) vs. TBD (ARK) (game one); at Arkansas, Brandt Thompson RHP (2-1, 3.81) vs. Ryan Hawks RHP (2-2, 3.82) 5:05 CT (game two).
The High-A Chiefs were pounded by the Kernels by a 10-5 score on Tuesday at Dozer Park.
Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched four innings, gave up five runs, three earned, on four hits and fanned five. Fajardo took the loss.
Patrick Galle relieved Fajardo and threw two scoreless innings. Sam Brodersen surrendered two runs in the seventh. Gerardo Salas relinquished three runs in the eighth. Rubén Menes tossed a scoreless ninth.
Grand Rapids went up with single runs in the first and second innings. Peoria scored in the third inning on a solo home run by Jesús Báez to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the top of the fourth, the Kernels extended their lead to 5-1. The Chiefs answered with a run in the home half to shrink the lead to 5-2. Cade McGee walked. Won-Bin Cho singled. Luis Pino doubled to score McGee. Cho was thrown out at the plate.
Grand Rapids put up two more runs in the top of the seventh to increase the lead to 7-2. Peoria cut the lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the inning. Jack Gurevitch, Jalin Flores and McGee singled. José Suárez plated Gurevitch on a single.
The Kernels continued to add on with three more runs in the top of the eighth to lead 10-3. The Chiefs rallied for two more runs in the bottom frame to close the gap to 10-5. Tre Richardson thumped a solo home run. Flores doubled and scored on a double by Josh Kross.

The Chiefs scored five runs on 12 hits. Kross was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Flores and Cho were both 2-for-5.
Pino stole his second base of the season. Flores made a throwing error.
Peoria is 16-23 on the season. They are in last place in the Midwest League West.

The Low-A Cardinals beat the Mets by a 4-1 score at Port St. Lucie on Tuesday.
Starter Jacob Odle pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, walked one and fanned eight to earn his second win.
Dylan Driessen relieved Odle and threw 2/3 of a scoreless inning. Jose Davila surrendered one run in the seventh. Antoni Cuello tossed the final two scoreless innings for his third save.
The Beach Birds took the lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Chase Heath.
Palm Beach added three runs in the third to lead 4-0. Ryan Weingartner singled. Ryan Mitchell singled. Brayden Smith followed with a three-run home run.
The Mets plated their only run in the seventh.
The Cardinals scored four runs on seven hits. Smith was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Mitchell was 2-for-3.
Mitchell was caught stealing twice. Cameron Nickens was caught stealing.
The Cardinals are 23-17 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East.

FCL Cardinals 3 at FCL Nationals 4 (eight innings, game one)
The rookie Cardinals were edged by the Nationals in the first game of a twin bill on Tuesday morning.
Starter Andrew Dutkanych IV, opening his rehab assignment from Palm Beach, pitched one scoreless inning with no hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
Branneli Franco relieved Dutkanych and surrendered two runs, one earned, in four innings. Owen Rice yielded one run in two innings. Brailyn Paulino gave up the walk off run in the eighth and took the loss.
The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Cardinals answered with a three-run third. Cristopher Lebrón doubled. Sebastian Dos Santos walked. Royelny Strop doubled to plate Lebrón. J.P. Cabrera drove in Dos Santos and Strop on a single.
The Nationals added single runs in the fourth and sixth to tie the game. In the extra-inning eighth, the Nationals won on a walk off.
The Cardinals scored three runs on seven hits. Lebrón was 2-for-4. Cabrera had two RBI.
Lebrón stole two bases. Dos Santos swiped his third bag. Paulo Asprilla was caught stealing
Bracewell Taveras made two fielding errors. Asprilla had a passed ball.
FCL Cardinals 1 at FCL Nationals 4 (seven innings, game two)
The Cardinals fell to the Nationals in the second game of the twin bill on Tuesday.
Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched four innings, gave up four runs, two earned, on two hits, walked one and fanned six. Chinchilla took the loss.
Jesús Garcia relieved Chinchilla and tossed the final two scoreless innings.
The Cardinals scored their only run in the first inning on a solo home run by Miguel Hernández.
The Nationals scored four runs in the third to take the lead. Neither team scored again through seven innings.
The Cardinals were limited to one run on five hits, the home run and four singles.

The Cardinals are 4-7 on the season. They stand in fourth place in the FCL East.
