The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-4 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Ian Bedell, pitched seven one-run innings with six strikeouts. Other standouts include César Prieto, José Fermín, Jordan Walker, Matt Koperniak and Victor Scott.

The Triple-A Redbirds wiped out the Stripers by a 10-3 score at AutoZone Park on Friday. Fans in attendance received free White Cloud toilet paper in the evening’s promotion.
Starter Andre Pallante pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on six hits, struck out three and walked four.
Brandon Komar surrendered one run in 3 2/3 innings of relief to earn his first Triple-A win. Ryan Loutos tossed a scoreless ninth.
Gwinnett put up one run in the top of the first. Memphis quickly answered with two runs in the home half. Victor Scott walked. Jordan Walker tripled and Scott came home. Walker scored on a double by César Prieto.
The Stripers tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the second. The Redbirds broke the tie in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Scott.

Memphis continued to add on with two more in the third. Thomas Saggese singled and stole second base. Alfonso Rivas drew a walk. Matt Koperniak plated Saggese on a single. Rivas crossed the plate on a single by Nick Raposo.
Four additional Memphis runs came home in the fourth. Walker singled. Prieto doubled and Walker scored. José Fermín drove in Prieto on a single. Saggese doubled. Rivas singled and Fermín scored. Saggese came home on a force out by Koperniak. The Redbirds led 10-2.
Gwinnett added one more run in the eighth for the final score of 10-3.
Prieto was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Fermín was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Walker was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Saggese was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Koperniak and Scott each had two RBI.
On the bases, Saggese stole his fifth base of the season. On defense, Arquimedes Gamboa made a fielding error. Raposo had a passed ball.
Memphis is 22-21 on the season.

The Double-A Cardinals lost to the RockHounds by a score of 9-4 at Hammons Field on Friday. Starter Ian Bedell pitched seven innings, gave up one run on three hits, struck out six and walked one.

Ryan Shreve surrendered five runs in just 1/3 of an inning of relief and took the loss. Matt Svanson yielded three runs, one earned, in the final 1 2/3 innings.
Springfield went up 1-0 in the first inning. Nathan Church reached base on a force out. Matt Lloyd singled. Church advanced to third and stole home.
The Cardinals increased the lead to 3-0 in the second inning. Mike Antico and Chandler Redmond singled. Bryan Torres singled to bring home both runners.

Midland got on the board with one run in the fourth. Springfield added a fourth run in the sixth on a solo home run by R.J. Yeager.
The wheels came off the bus in the eighth inning when the bullpen faltered and gave up six runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to give the RockHounds the 9-4 win.
The Cardinals scored four runs on seven hits. Lloyd and Antico were each 2-for-4. Torres had two RBI.
On the bases, Lloyd stole his first base. Church swiped his eighth bag. Jeremy Rivas stole his 10th base. Noah Mendlinger was caught stealing.
On defense, Rivas made a fielding error.
Springfield is 20-16 on the season.
Saturday’s game: vs. Midland, Tink Hence RHP (3-2, 3.21) vs. Jack Cushing RHP (2-2, 3.93) 6:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs fell to the Whitecaps in a 6-1 rout on Friday at Dozer Park. Starter Brycen Mautz pitched 6 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on seven hits and struck out five. Mautz took the loss, his fourth.
Dionys Rodriguez surrendered one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Peoria scored their only run in the first inning on a solo home run by Won-Bin Cho.

In the fourth, West Michigan took a 2-1 lead, then added two more runs in the fifth. The Whitecaps increased the lead to 5-1 in the seventh and 6-1 in the ninth.
Peoria scored one run on four hits. Cho was 2-for-4 with an RBI. The offense was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.
On defense, William Sullivan made a fielding error. Chris Rotondo had an outfield assist at home plate.
Peoria is 13-24 on the season.

The Low-A Cardinals were trounced by the Mets in a 12-5 blowout on Friday. Starter Jose Davila pitched four innings, gave up three runs, two earned, on seven hits, struck out three and walked one. Davila took the loss, his third.
Benjamin Arias surrendered one run in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Augusto Calderon yielded four runs in 2/3 of an inning. Ettore Guilianelli allowed three runs without recording an out. Angel Cuenca tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
St. Lucie went up 1-0 in the first inning, then added three runs in the second. The Beach Birds cut the lead to 4-2 in the third. Chase Davis singled. Johnfrank Salazar doubled to score Davis. Salazar came home on a single by Kade Kretzschmar.
Palm Beach produced a third run in the fourth on a solo home run by Adari Grant to shrink the lead to 4-3.

In the top of the seventh, the Mets widened their tally to 5-3. The Cardinals again made it a one run game in the home seventh. Salazar walked, advanced to third on an error, and scored on a ground out by Jose Cordoba.
St. Lucie ran up the score in the top of the eighth with seven runs to lead 12-4. Palm Beach could only rally for one more run in the home eighth. Grant was hit by a pitch and later scored on a single by Kretzschmar.
Kretzschmar was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
On the bases, Brayden Jobert stole his sixth base of the season. On defense, Grant made a throwing error. Maikel Hernandez picked a runner off second base.
Palm Beach is 21-16 on the season.

FCL Cardinals 6 at FCL Astros 7
The rookie Cardinals were topped by the Astros by a 7-6 score on Friday. Packy Naughton, on a rehab assignment from Memphis, did not get out of the first inning before apparently reaching his pitch count (24). The lefty pitched 2/3 of an inning, gave up two runs on three hits, struck out two and walked one.
Roblin Heredia threw 1/3 of a scoreless inning of relief. Ruben Menes surrendered one run in four innings. Ronny Oliver yielded three runs, two earned, in 2 1/3 innings. Victor Villanueva allowed one run in the final 1 1/3 innings and took the loss, his second.
The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Samil De La Rosa led off with a solo home run. Yordalin Pena tripled. Jose Suarez followed with a two-run home run.
The Astros answered in the home first with two runs then tied the game in the third.
The Cardinals regained the lead 4-3 in the fourth on a solo home run by Arfeni Batista. They added two runs in the fifth to go up 6-3. Anyelo Encarnacion reached on an error. Pena doubled to plate Encarnacion. Pena came home on a single by Jonathan Mejia.
The Astros rallied for three runs in the eighth to tie the game at 6-6. They won in a walk off in the bottom of the ninth.
Pena and Batista were each 2-for-4 with an RBI. Suarez had two RBI.
Pena stole two bases and Mejia swiped his first bag. On defense, Mejia and Raul Guzman each made a throwing error. Batista had a fielding miscue. Villanueva made an error on a pickoff. Heriberto Caraballo had a passed ball.
The Cardinals are 6-4 on the season.
