The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-2 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield RHP Brandt Thompson, threw 4 ⅓ scoreless no-hit innings of relief with five strikeouts. Other standouts include Hunter Dobbins, Leo Bernal, Nelson Velázquez, Joshua Báez, Trey Paige, Jeremy Rivas, Nolan Sparks, Alex Birge and Alex Breckheimer.

Memphis Redbirds 6, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7 (10 innings)
A sellout crowd went home disappointed as the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds lost in extra innings to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday.
Hunter Dobbins made his seventh start for the Redbirds. The right-hander pitched 5 ⅔ innings and allowed one run on six hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Scott Blewett fired 1 ⅓ scoreless innings in relief of Dobbins. Chris Roycroft surrendered two runs and recorded two outs. Max Rajcic followed and yielded two runs, one earned, and was tagged with a blown save. Hancel Rincon gave up two runs, one earned, in the 10th inning and took the loss.
The Jumbo Shrimp opened the scoring with a run in the first inning.
Memphis tied the game in the second. Leo Bernal began the frame with his fourth home run of 2026, a solo shot.

With two outs in the third, Bryan Torres legged out an infield single to the pitcher. Joshua Báez blasted his ninth home run of the season to score Torres and put the Redbirds in front 3-1.

Memphis extended the lead further with a run in the fourth, their third consecutive scoring inning. Bernal opened with a double. Bligh Madris drew a walk. The runners advanced on a wild pitch. Bernal scored on a Ramon Mendoza groundout for a 4-1 Memphis lead.
The Redbirds stretched the lead to four with a run in the sixth. Nelson Velázquez belted his sixth home run of the year, a solo shot.

Jacksonville scored two runs apiece in the eighth and ninth innings to tie the game at five. The game remained knotted at five to force extra innings.
In the 10th, the Jumbo Shrimp hit a two-run home run to take a 7-5 lead.
Down to their final three outs, Memphis looked to rally. Colton Ledbetter began the inning at second base and moved to third on a Miguel Villarroel. Ledbetter scored on a sacrifice fly from Torres to bring the Redbirds within one at 7-6, but the scoring ended there.
The Redbirds scored six runs on eight hits. Velázquez was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Bernal went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. Báez tallied two RBI on a home run. Torres walked twice, singled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Villarroel notched two singles.
On the bases, Ledbetter was caught stealing second base. Villarroel was picked off both first and second base.
On defense, shortstop Villarroel made a throwing error. The Redbirds turned two double plays.
Memphis is 25-17 on the season. They are in a three-way tie with Louisville and Gwinnett for first place in the International League West Division.

Springfield Cardinals 7 at Tulsa Drillers 2
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals bested the Drillers in Tulsa on Thursday night.
Chen-Wei Lin made his fifth start in his seventh appearance for Springfield. The right-hander tossed 4 ⅔ innings and allowed two runs on seven hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Brandt Thompson made his third relief appearance of the year following Lin and threw 4 ⅓ dominant innings of scoreless baseball on no hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Thompson earned his second win of 2026.

Springfield opened the scoring in the second inning. With one away, Jeremy Rivas crushed his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot.

The Cardinals doubled the lead in the third. Noah Mendlinger reached on a fielding error. Jon Jon Gazdar lined a single with both advancing a fielding error. Rainiel Rodriguez roped a single to plate Mendlinger.

In the fourth inning, Trey Paige drew a walk and stole second base. Graysen Tarlow doubled him home for a 3-0 lead.

Tulsa entered the run column in the home fourth.
Springfield grabbed the run back in the fifth, their fourth scoring frame in a row. Rodriguez led off with a walk. Chase Davis grounded into a forceout. Zach Levenson was hit by a pitch to move Davis to second base. Davis swiped third and Rivas walked to load the bases. Paige brought Davis home via a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Drillers plated a run in the fifth to move back within two.
Springfield scored twice in the seventh inning. Davis and Levenson drew back-to-back walks and advanced on a wild pitch. Paige lined a single to score Davis and Levenson and stretch the lead to 6-2.
The Cardinals added an insurance run in the ninth inning. Paige hit a one-out single and stole second. Dakota Harris blooped a single. Harris and Paige executed a double steal. Paige crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly from Tarlow to stretch the lead to 7-2.
The Cardinals held Tulsa to just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position in the win.
Springfield scored seven runs on 10 hits. Paige was 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and three RBI. Tarlow doubled and drove in two runs. Rivas walked and hit a solo home run. Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI, his first RBI at the Double-A level.
The Cardinals were busy on the basepaths with six stolen bases. Paige stole second base twice and snagged third base for three total steals as he increased his season total to nine. Davis took third base for his sixth steal. Rivas stole his 11th base. Harris recorded his eighth steal. Paige was caught stealing second base.
On defense, catcher Rodriguez made a throwing error.
Springfield is 15-21 on the season.

Peoria Chiefs 2 at Beloit Sky Carp 5
The High-A Peoria Chiefs fell to the Beloit Sky Carp in Thursday’s road contest.
Nate Dohm started his sixth game for the Chiefs. The right-hander threw four innings and allowed five runs on five hits, two walks, and five strikeouts. Dohm took the loss.
Nolan Sparks pitched four scoreless innings with a strikeout in relief of Dohm to finish the game.
Beloit scored two runs in the first, one in the third, and two in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.
The Chiefs entered the scoring column in the top of the sixth as Tre Richardson III hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot.

The Chiefs plated a run in the eighth. With two outs, Richardson III reached base on a fielding error. Won-Bin Cho lined a sharp RBI double for a 5-2 score.

The Chiefs were unable to rally further in the loss.
Peoria scored two runs on just three hits. Cho doubled and drove in a run. Richardson III hit a solo home run and scored twice. Christian Martin singled. Luis Pino drew two walks in his High-A debut. The lineup was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
Pino stole his first base with the Chiefs. Martin swiped his second base with Peoria. Cade McGee was caught stealing second base.
On defense, pitcher Dohm picked a runner off first base to highlight an errorless night.
Peoria is 15-20 on the season.

Palm Beach Cardinals 7, Daytona Tortugas 2
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Daytona Tortugas at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Thursday for their third consecutive win.
Ethan Young made his eighth start for Palm Beach. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed two runs on four hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.
Alex Breckheimer threw four shutout innings on just two hits with six strikeouts in relief of Young and collected his second win of the season. Antoni Cuello threw a scoreless ninth inning.
Daytona opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first.
Palm Beach tied the game in the home second. Jonathan Mejía walked and advanced to second on a pickoff error. With two outs, Trevor Haskins grounded a single into left field to score Mejía.
The Tortugas reclaimed the lead with a run in the third.
Palm Beach tied the game once more in the fourth. Alex Birge blasted his third home run of the season, a solo shot.

Palm Beach took the lead with a three-run sixth inning. Birge and Nickens drew back-to-back walks and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Haskins took a third consecutive free pass to load the bases. Birge touched home plate on a Heriberto Caraballo sacrifice fly. Facundo Velásquez hit his first double with Palm Beach to score Nickens and Haskins and extend the lead to 5-2.
The Cardinals added a pair of runs in the eighth. Nickens opened the frame with his second walk of the game and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Caraballo reached base on a throwing error from the Daytona shortstop, with Caraballo to second base and Nickens home on the play. Caraballo advanced to third on a Velásquez groundout and scored on a single from Michael Dattalo to stretch the lead to 7-2.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on five hits. Dattalo was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Velásquez doubled and notched two RBI. Birge walked, scored twice, and hit a solo home run. Haskins walked, singled, scored a run, and recorded an RBI. Caraballo walked, scored, and drove in one. Nickens walked twice.
The Cardinals did not steal a base or commit an error.
Palm Beach is 20-16 on the season. They are two games behind Jupiter for first place in the Florida State League East Division.

FCL Cardinals (off day)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were off Thursday, as they prepared for a home contest with the FCL Nationals on Friday.
The rookie Cardinals will look to regain momentum after being no-hit by the FCL Astros in seven innings on Wednesday.
The FCL Cardinals are 3-4 on the season.
