Cardinals Minor League Notebook – May 13, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria’s Blake Aita, pitched five scoreless innings with four strikeouts, no walks and only four hits. Other standouts include Joshua Báez, Nelson Velázquez, Chase Davis, Josh Kross, Won-Bin Cho and Cade McGee.

Memphis 5, Jacksonville 15

The Redbirds suffered a series opening massacre at the hands of the Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday that included five Jacksonville long balls.

Starter Bruce Zimmerman pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up eight runs on eight hits, walked one and fanned four. Zimmerman took the loss.

Hancel Rincon relieved Zimmerman and surrendered three runs in 1/3 of an inning. Skylar Hales and Chris Roycroft hurled a scoreless inning each. Ian Bedell relinquished four runs in the final two innings.

Memphis took a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Bryan Torres walked. Joshua Báez followed with a two-run home run. Blaze Jordan singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Nelson Velázquez hit a two-run home run.

Jacksonville answered with three runs in the second to cut the lead to 4-3. In the fifth, the Jumbo Shrimp piled on eight runs to go ahead 11-4 and never looked back.

The Redbirds scored one run in the sixth to shrink the gap to 11-5. Velázquez and Ramon Mendoza walked. Torres plated Velázquez on a single.

Jacksonville added two runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to win the game 15-5.

Memphis scored five runs on nine hits. Báez was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Torres was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jordan was 2-for-5. Velázquez had two RBI.

Colton Ledbetter stole his sixth base of the season. Bernal made a throwing error and had a passed ball.

Memphis is 25-15 on the season and is tied for first place with Gwinnett in the International League West.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Jacksonville, TBD (MEM) vs. Braxton Garrett LHP (0-2, 2.30) 12:05 am CT.

Springfield 7 at Tulsa 6

The Double-A Cardinals edged the Drillers by the score of 7-6 on Tuesday.

Starter Braden Davis pitched 2 2/3 innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on three hits, walked three and struck out one.

Hunter Hayes relieved Davis and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first win. Randel Clemente surrendered one run in the sixth. Austin Love hurled two scoreless innings. Mason Burns tossed a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.

The Cardinals went up 3-0 in the first inning. Jon Jon Gazdar doubled. Rainiel Rodriguez singled. Miguel Ugueto was hit by a pitch. Chase Davis walked and Gazdar scored. Ryan Campos was hit by a pitch, scoring Rodriguez. Ugueto came home on a force out by Travis Honeyman.

Tulsa put up five runs in the third to take the lead 5-3.

Springfield answered with four runs in the fourth to regain the lead 7-5. Gazdar reached on catcher’s interference. Rodriguez walked. Zach Levenson, pinch hitting for Ugueto, drew a walk. Chase Davis singled to plate Gazdar and Rodriguez. Davis stole second base. Honeyman walked. Trey Paige walked and Levenson scored. Davis came home on a single by Dakota Harris.

The Drillers added one run in the sixth to shrink the lead to 7-6.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on seven hits. In his Double-A debut, Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Davis had three RBI. Jeremy Rivas was 2-for-4. Gazdar scored two runs.

Rivas stole his 10th base of the season. Davis swiped his fourth bag. Gazdar stole his third base.

Rodriguez made a throwing error. Davis had an outfield assist at first base.

Springfield is 13-21 on the season. They are in last place in the Texas League North.

Wednesday’s game: at Tulsa, LHP Mason Molina (0-2, 3.86) vs. Patrick Copen RHP (3-1, 3.31) 11:00 am CT.

Peoria 7 at Beloit 1

The High-A Chiefs defeated the Sky Carp by the score of 7-1 on Tuesday.

Starter Blake Aita pitched five scoreless innings, allowed four hits, and fanned four to earn his first win.

Dominic Freeburger relieved Aita and surrendered one run in the sixth. Patrick Galle hurled two scoreless innings. D.J. Carpenter tossed a scoreless ninth.

Peoria took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Tai Peete walked. Josh Kross singled and Peete advanced to third. Peete scored on a balk. Jesús Báez walked. Cade McGee doubled to plate Kross and Báez.

The Chiefs added a run in the fifth on a solo home run by Kross to increase the lead to 4-0. The Sky Carp scored their only run in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-1.

Peoria made it 5-1 in the seventh. Peete singled and stole second base. Jalin Flores reached on a fielder’s choice and Peete was out at third. Kross singled, advancing Flores to third. Flores came home on a wild pitch.

The Chiefs extended their lead to 7-1 in the eighth on a two-run home run by Won-Bin Cho. It was the outfielder’s third consecutive game with a long ball.

The offense scored seven runs on eight hits. Kross was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cho was 2-for-4 with two RBI. McGee had two RBI.

Christian Martin stole his first base of the season. Cho swiped his 12th bag. Peete stole his fifth base.

Peoria is 15-18 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Midwest League West.

Wednesday’s game: at Beloit, Yhoiker Fajardo RHP (1-0, 1.46) vs. TBD (BEL) 11:10 am CT.

Palm Beach vs. Daytona (postponed)

Tuesday’s game at Roger Dean was postponed due to rain. It will be played as one game of a doubleheader on Wednesday, May 13.

The Cardinals are 17-16 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East.

FCL Cardinals 1, FCL Astros 7 (seven innings)

The rookie-ball Cardinals fell to the Astros by a 7-1 score on Tuesday.

Starter Branneli Franco pitched 1 1/3 innings, gave up five runs on four hits, walked three and struck out two. Franco took the loss.

Alejando Lóiaza relieved Franco and threw 2/3 of a scoreless inning. Gabriel Chinchilla surrendered two runs in four innings. Anthony Watts tossed a scoreless seventh.

The Cardinals scored their only run in the first inning. Sebastian Dos Santos doubled, advanced to third on a balk and scored on a fielding error.

The Astros put up three runs in the second inning, added three in the third and one in the sixth to win 7-1.

The Cardinals scored one run on five hits. Dos Santos had the only extra base hit. The offense was 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

Miguel Hernández stole his second base of the season. Royelny Strop also swiped his second bag. Yaxson Lucena was caught stealing.

J.P. Cabrera had a passed ball.

The Cardinals are 3-3 on the season.
