The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-2 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Max Rajcic, pitched six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in Springfield’s win. Other standouts include Jacob Buchberger, Hancel Rincon and Jonathan Mejia.

The Triple-A Redbirds were routed by the Tides by eight runs at AutoZone Park on Friday. Starter Michael McGreevy pitched 1 2/3 innings, gave up eight runs on seven hits, struck out two and walked three. McGreevy took his fourth loss of the season.
Josh James surrendered three runs in one inning of relief. Nick Raquet yielded one run in 3 1/3 innings. Victor Santos threw a scoreless seventh. Connor Thomas tossed the final two scoreless innings.
The Tides went up 3-0 in the top of the first inning. Memphis tallied one run in the home first. Victor Scott II drew a walk and Thomas Saggese reached on a fielder’s choice. Jordan Walker grounded into a force out and Scott came home.
Norfolk added five runs in the top of the second to lead 8-1. The Redbirds cut the lead to 8-2 in the bottom of the second. Jared Young doubled and scored on a triple by Scott.

Norfolk widened the lead further to 11 -2 with three runs in the third. The score became 12-2 in the top of the sixth.
Memphis gained two more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final score of 12-4. Walker doubled and scored on a double by Young.
Young went 2-for-3 with two RBI. He was the only Redbird with multiple hits. Scott tripled and walked twice. Rehabber Matt Carpenter also drew two free passes.
Memphis is 18-18 on the season.

Springfield 2 at NW Arkansas 0
The Double-A Cardinals blanked the Nationals 2-0 in Springdale, Ark. on Friday. Starter Max Rajcic pitched six scoreless innings, allowed five hits, struck out nine and walked one to earn his fourth win of the season.

Leonardo Taveras relieved Rajcic and threw two scoreless innings. Matt Svanson tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth save.
Springfield recorded the only runs of the game in the second inning on a two-run home run by Jacob Buchberger.

The Cardinals racked up seven hits. Buchberger was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Nathan Church and Jimmy Crooks were each 2-for-5.
Springfield is 20-10 on the season.
Saturday’s game: at NW Arkansas, Alex Cornwell LHP (3-0, 5.95) vs. Luinder Avila RHP (1-3, 7.02) 6:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs were victorious over the Sky Carp in a 4-2 road win on Friday. Starter Hancel Rincon pitched seven innings, gave up one run on four hits, struck out five and walked one to earn his second win of the season.
Zane Mills relieved Rincon and threw the final two scoreless innings to earn his first save.
Peoria put three runs on the board in the fourth inning. Dakota Harris singled. Osvaldo Tovalin reached on an error. Harris scored on a wild pitch. Michael Curialle drew a walk. Won-Bin Cho bunted the runners over. Joshua Baez plated Tovalin on a sac fly. Curialle came home on a single by Brody Moore.
The Chiefs made it 4-0 in the top of the seventh on a solo home run by Zach Levenson. Beloit cut the lead to 4-1 in the home half of the seventh.
The Peoria offense scored four runs on seven hits. Harris was 2-for-4. On the base paths, Baez stole two bags. Moore was caught stealing twice.
Peoria is 10-21 on the season.
Saturday’s game: at Beloit, Brycen Mautz LHP (0-3, 7.52) vs. Ike Buxton RHP (0-3, 4.58) 1:05 CT.
The Low-A Cardinals fell to the Hammerheads by the score of 4-1 at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday. Starter Quinn Mathews pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on four hits, struck out eight and walked one. Mathews took the loss, his first of the season.
Benjamin Arias relieved Mathews and surrendered one run in the final 1 2/3 innings.
The Beach Birds plated their only run of the game in the top of the second inning. Kade Kretzschmar walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, went to third on a ground out by Johnfrank Salazar, and scored on a wild pitch.
Jupiter tied the game in the home half of the second. The Hammerheads added two runs in the fifth and one run in the seventh to win 4-1.
Palm Beach had one run on five hits. Miguel Villarroel was 2-for-4. The offense was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.
On the base paths, Trey Paige was caught stealing. In the field, Chase Adkison had a passed ball.
Palm Beach is 17-14 on the season.
Saturday’s game: at Jupiter, TBD (PB) vs. Noble Meyer RHP (2-1, 4.26) 5:00 CT.
FCL Cardinals 5, FCL Nationals 1
The rookie level Cardinals beat the Nationals by a 5-1 score on Friday. Starter Leonel Sequera pitched four innings, gave up one run on two hits and struck out three.
Yordy Herrera relieved Sequera and threw two scoreless innings to earn his third win. Antoni Cuello hurled two run-free innings. Luis Gastelum tossed a scoreless ninth.
The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. In the fourth, the Cardinals took the lead on a two-run home run by Felix Taveras.
The Cardinals added a run in the fifth to increase the lead to 3-1. Yancel Guerrero was hit by a pitch and later scored on a force out by Jonathan Mejia.
Another run crossed the plate for the Cardinals in the sixth. Luis Rodriguez singled. Miguel Vargas singled. Guerrero plated Rodriguez on a single.
The fifth and final run for the Cardinals came in the seventh. Mejia singled and Taveras walked. Mejia came home on a single by Jose Suarez.
The Cardinals scored five runs on eight hits. Mejia was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Suarez was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Taveras had two RBI.
On the base paths, Suarez was caught stealing. In the field, Mejia made a throwing error.
The FCL Cardinals are 4-2 on the season.
