The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-3 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach DH Ryan Mitchell, blasted two home runs, walked twice and plated four. Other standouts include Jimmy Crooks, Liam Doyle, Miguel Ugueto, Jeremy Rivas, Won-Bin Cho, Cameron Nickens, Cade Crossland and Miguel Hernández.

Memphis Redbirds 6 at Toledo Mud Hens 13
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds fell to the Mud Hens in Toledo on Saturday.
Quinn Mathews started his seventh game for Memphis. The left-hander pitched just 1 ⅓ innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits, two walks, and one strikeout. Mathews took the loss.
Skylar Hales struck out two across 1 ⅔ innings in relief of Mathews. Rehabbing Rule 5 pick Matt Pushard followed with a shutout frame and two strikeouts. Chris Roycroft surrendered six runs across 1 ⅔ frames. Hancel Rincon yielded a run over 2 ⅓ innings.
Toledo scored one run in the bottom of the first and five in the second to take an early 6-0 lead.
Memphis trimmed the lead in half in the top of the fourth. Jimmy Crooks led off the frame with a double and scored on a single from Leo Bernal.

Colton Ledbetter connected for his third triple of the year to bring Bernal home for a 6-2 score.

With two outs, Brody Moore reached on a throwing error by the Toledo third baseman, with Ledbetter taking home to bring the Redbirds closer at 6-3.
Memphis narrowed the gap to one run in the fifth. Bryan Torres walked and stole second base. Jimmy Crooks blasted a two-run home run, his 12th long ball of the season, to score Torres.

Toledo plated three runs in the home fifth to extend the lead to 9-5.
The Redbirds grabbed a run back in the sixth. Bligh Madris reached on catcher’s interference and Moore singled to open the frame. After back-to-back strikeouts, Joshua Báez blooped a single to score Madris for a 9-6 game, with Moore thrown out at third base to cut the rally short.
The Mud Hens scored a second consecutive trio of runs in the sixth and added an insurance run in the eighth to put the game out of reach at 13-6.
The Redbirds scored six runs on eight hits. Crooks went 2-for-4, including a double, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Bernal was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Ledbetter walked, tripled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Báez singled and notched an RBI.
On the bases, Ledbetter swiped his fifth bag. Torres stole his eighth base.
On defense, second baseman Miguel Villarroel and center fielder Ledbetter each made a throwing error. The Redbirds turned two double plays.
Memphis is 24-14 on the season. They are tied for first place with Gwinnett in the International League West Division. They will look to secure the series split with Toledo on Sunday.

Springfield Cardinals 7, Corpus Christi Hooks 5
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals edged the Corpus Christi Hooks at Route 66 Stadium on Saturday night.
Liam Doyle made his sixth start for Springfield. The left-hander threw a career-high five innings and allowed two runs on five hits, no walks, and a career-best eight strikeouts.

Hunter Hayes yielded two runs across 1 ⅓ innings in relief of Doyle. Austin Love followed and gave up one run with three strikeouts over 1 ⅓ frames. Love was charged with a blown save but collected his first win of 2026. Mason Burns fanned two hitters in a scoreless ninth inning to collect his third save of the season, the 10th in his career.
Springfield pounced early with a four-run bottom of the first inning. Miguel Ugueto belted his second home run of the season, a solo shot.

Chase Davis and Zach Levenson followed with back-to-back walks. Trey Paige lined a single to bring Davis home for a 2-0 lead. Travis Honeyman roped a single to score Levenson. Paige crossed home plate on a Jeremy Rivas sacrifice fly to extend the Springfield lead to 4-0.
The Hooks entered the run column with a two-run top of the fifth.
Springfield took back a run in the home fifth. Ugueto hit his seventh double of the season. Levenson singled to bring Ugueto home for a 5-2 Springfield lead.
Corpus Christi tied the game at five with single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
Springfield pulled ahead for good with a pair of runs in the home eighth. Levenson opened the frame with a single. Paige walked. Honeyman reached on a fielder’s choice, with everyone safe to load the bags. Rivas grounded a single into center field to score Levenson and Paige and put Springfield in front 7-5.
Springfield’s pitching allowed just two hits in the win.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on nine hits. Rivas singled and tallied a team-best three RBI. Ugueto was 3-for-4, including a double, a triple, a home run, and two runs scored as he fell a single shy of a cycle. Levenson walked, singled twice, scored twice, and drove in a run. Paige drew a walk, singled, scored twice, and notched an RBI. Honeyman singled and drove in a run.
On the basepaths, Honeyman swiped second and third bases to increase his season total to 12. Graysen Tarlow stole his second base of 2026.
The Cardinals did not commit an error.
Springfield is 11-21 on the season. They look to take five of six from the Hooks with a win on Sunday.

Peoria Chiefs 5, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 7
The High-A Peoria Chiefs dropped a close contest to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Dozer Park on Saturday.
Tanner Franklin made his seventh start for Peoria. The right-hander tossed 3 ⅔ innings and allowed one run on two hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.
D.J. Carpenter threw 1 ⅓ hitless, scoreless innings in relief of Franklin. Gerardo Salas threw a scoreless sixth inning but surrendered five runs in the seventh, taking a blown save and the loss. Jason Savacool yielded a run and struck out three across the final two innings.
Peoria struck first with a run in the first inning. Tai Peete led off with a double and scored on a Rainiel Rodriguez single.

Wisconsin tied the game with a run in the top of the third.
Peoria immediately regained the lead in the home half of the frame. Tre Richardson III legged out a bunt single. Jesús Báez lined a single to bring Richardson III home and put the Chiefs ahead 2-1.

Peoria extended the lead with three runs in the sixth. Cade McGee was hit by a pitch and José Suárez singled to put runners at the corners. Won-Bin Cho crushed his third home run of 2026, a three-run shot, to stretch the Peoria lead to 5-1.

Wisconsin answered with five runs in the seventh and an insurance run in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead. Peoria was unable to respond.
The Chiefs scored five runs on eight hits. Cho hit a three-run home run. Báez and Rodriguez singled and notched an RBI. Peete doubled and scored a run. Richardson III singled and scored a run. The lineup drew just one walk and struck out 12 times.
On the bases, Richardson III stole his fourth bag of the season.
The Chiefs did not commit an error.
Peoria is 14-17 on the season. They look to secure the series split with Wisconsin on Sunday.

Palm Beach Cardinals 8 at Jupiter Hammerheads 9
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals’ ninth-inning rally fell just short in Saturday’s away loss at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
Cade Crossland started his seventh contest for the Cardinals. The left-hander pitched four innings and allowed one run on no hits, six walks, and six strikeouts.
Jake Shelagowski yielded two runs and struck out three across three innings in relief of Crossland. Justin Militello surrendered six runs and recorded just one out. Hunter Kublick recorded the final two outs of the eighth inning.
Jupiter scored a run apiece in the third, fifth, and sixth innings for a 3-0 lead.
Palm Beach answered with a five-run top of the seventh. Jack Gurevitch began the frame with a walk. Ryan Mitchell blasted his third home run of the season, a two-run shot, to bring the Cardinals with a run at 3-2.
Brayden Smith hit a one-out single and swiped second base. Chase Heath followed with his fourth double of the year to score Smith and tie the game. With two outs, Cameron Nickens hit the second two-run home run of the inning, his second long ball of 2026, to move Palm Beach ahead 5-3.
The Cardinals extended the lead with a run in the top of the eighth. With two away, Mitchell crushed his second home run of the game, a solo shot, for a 6-3 Palm Beach lead.

The Hammerheads responded with a six-run home eighth to jump in front 9-6.
Down to their final three outs, the Cardinals tried to stage a late comeback. With one out, Yordalin Peña hit his first home run of 2026, a solo blast, to bring the Cardinals closer at 9-7. Nickens drew a walk. Johnfrank Salazar lined a single and advanced to second base on a throwing error, though Nickens was thrown out at home for the second out. Ryan Weingartner followed with a walk. Weingartner and Salazar stole second base and third base, respectively, on a double steal. Gurevitch took a free pass to load the bases. Mitchell drew a third consecutive walk to force Salazar home and move the Cardinals within a run at 9-8. Jonathan Mejía popped out to third base to cut the rally just short.
The Cardinals scored eight runs on 13 hits. Mitchell was 2-for-4 with two home runs, two walks, and four RBI. Nickens drew three walks and hit a home run for two RBI. Peña hit a solo home run. Heath went 3-for-4, including a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Mejía walked and doubled. Salazar was 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Smith hit three singles and scored a run.
The Cardinals were active on the bases. Smith stole second and third bases to increase his season total to seven. Weingartner snagged his seventh bag. Mejía swiped third base for his fourth steal. Salazar stole third base for his first steal of 2026. Heath was caught stealing second base and Smith was picked off first base.
On defense, pitcher Crossland committed a pickoff error.
Palm Beach is 17-15 on the season, one game behind Jupiter for first place in the Florida State League East Division. They will look to win Sunday’s series finale and tie the Hammerheads in the division standings.

The Florida Complex League Cardinals bested the FCL Mets in a road contest on Saturday.
Brian Holiday made his first career start in his second appearance for the Cardinals. The right-hander threw two scoreless innings on one hit, no walks, and three strikeouts.
Earle Zulueta made his first appearance of the season in relief of Holiday and pitched 2 ⅔ innings and allowed two runs. Alejandro Lóaiza yielded two runs across two innings but held on to collect the first win of his pitching career. Jesús García fired 2 ⅓ shutout frames on just one hit to pick up his first save of the season.
The Cardinals opened the scoring with a two-run top of the first inning. Kenly Hunter led off with a walk. Yaxson Lucena reached on a throwing error from the pitcher to allow Hunter to advance to third base and Lucena to second. Miguel Hernández lined a single to bring Hunter and Lucena home for a 2-0 Cardinals lead.
The Mets tied the game at two with a run apiece in the fourth and fifth frames.
The Cardinals erupted for a five-run sixth to regain the lead. Cristofer Lebrón opened with a single. Royelny Strop followed with a single. J.P. Cabrera walked to load the bases. Hunter reached base on a fielding error as Lebrón and Strop scored for a 4-2 Cardinals lead. Hunter stole second base and Sebastian Dos Santos walked to reload the bags. Lucena took a second consecutive walk to force Cabrera home. Hernández singled home Hunter and Dos Santos to extend the Cardinals lead to 7-2.
The Mets narrowed the lead to three with a two-run seventh for a 7-4 score.
The Cardinals took both runs back in the eighth. Lucena took his second free pass of the day and scored on a Hernández triple for an 8-4 lead. Hernández crossed home plate on a Lebrón groundout to stretch the lead to 9-4.
The Cardinals did not allow a hit with runners in scoring position in the victory.
The FCL Cardinals scored nine runs on seven hits. Hernández went 3-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, and five RBI. Lebrón was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Lucena walked twice, scored twice, and recorded an RBI. Strop walked, singled, and scored a run. Cabrera drew two walks and scored a run.
On the bases, Hernández stole third base, his first steal of the season. Hunter swiped his second bag.
On defense, second baseman Hernández made a throwing error.
The FCL Cardinals are 2-2 on the season. They are off Sunday and will play a road contest with the FCL Nationals on Monday.
