The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-2 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 3B César Prieto, was 5-for-6 with two RBI. Other standouts include Jimmy Crooks, José Fermín, Bryan Torres, Nathan Church, Joshua Baez, Bryce Madron and Leonel Sequera.

The Triple-A Redbirds beat the Knights in a 13-10 slugfest in Charlotte on Friday. Starter Curtis Taylor pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on six hits, struck out one and walked two.
Zack Weiss relieved Taylor and surrendered one run in 1 1/3 innings. Nick Anderson yielded one run in the sixth. Ryan Fernandez allowed three runs in the seventh. Riley O’Brien tossed the final two scoreless innings to earn the win.
Memphis went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. José Fermín drew a walk and stole second base. Jimmy Crooks singled to score Fermín.
Charlotte answered in the home first to lead 2-1. The Redbirds responded in the top of the second with four runs to retake the lead at 5-2. Ryan Vilade and Bryan Torres walked. Fermín singled and Vilade scored. Thomas Saggese walked. Crooks was hit by a pitch, scoring Torres. César Prieto plated Fermín and Saggese on a single.

The Knights put up two runs in the home second to shrink the lead to 5-4. In the top of the fourth, Memphis added a run to their lead as Saggese doubled and scored on a single by Crooks.

Charlotte matched the Redbirds with a one run home fourth to cut the lead to one run. In the top of the fifth, Memphis scored two to make it 8-5. Prieto singled but was eliminated on a force out by Michael Helman. Vilade drove in Helman on a triple. Vilade came home on a single by Torres.
The Knights continued to answer with single runs in the bottom of the fifth and the sixth to pull to within one at 8-7.
Memphis posted a three-run top of the seventh to widen the lead to 11-7. Matt Lloyd reached on an error. Vilade walked. A wild pitch advanced the runners. Torres drew a walk. Fermín doubled to send Lloyd and Vilade home. Torres scored on a fielder’s choice by Matt Koperniak.

Charlotte added three runs in the home seventh to bring the lead to 11-10. Memphis went up 12-10 in the eighth. Prieto singled. Helman walked. Vilade walked. Torres plated Prieto on a single.
The Redbirds added an insurance run in the ninth for the final 13-10 score. Saggese was plunked. Crooks took a free pass. Prieto singled and Saggese came home on a sac fly by Helman.
The Memphis offense scored 13 runs on 15 hits. Prieto was 5-for-6 with two RBI. Crooks was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Fermín was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Torres was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
On the bases, Fermín stole his ninth base of the season. Koperniak was caught stealing. Prieto was picked off first base.
On defense, Taylor picked a runner off second base.
The Redbirds are 20-14 on the season.
Saturday’s games: at Charlotte, Alex Cornwell LHP (1-2, 11.72) vs. Justin Dunn RHP (1-2, 5.60) 11:05 am CT (game one); at Charlotte, RHP Michael McGreevy (3-1, 4.08) vs. Evan McKendry RHP (0-1, 6.43) (game two).
The Double-A Cardinals defeated the Travelers in a 4-2 road win on Friday.
Starter Max Rajcic pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up two unearned runs on two hits, fanned five and walked one.
Andrew Marrero relieved Rajcic and threw 2 1/3 perfect innings of relief with four strikeouts to earn the win. Nathanael Heredia hurled a scoreless eighth. Sean Harney tossed a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.
The Cardinals scored first on a solo home run by Nathan Church in the first. They added two runs in the top of the third to increase the lead to 3-0. Dakota Harris doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Leonardo Bernal drew a walk. R. J. Yeager reached on a fielders’ choice with a throwing error and Harris scored. Bernal came home on a double play by Noah Mendlinger.

Arkansas cut the lead to 3-2 in the home third. The score remained there until Springfield added a run in the ninth to win 4-2. Ramon Mendoza walked. Carlos Linarez singled. Church plated Mendoza on a single.
The Cardinals scored four runs on seven hits. Church was 2-for-5 with two RBI.
On defense, Jeremy Rivas made a throwing error. Marrero picked a runner off first base.
Springfield is 15-16 on the season.
Saturday’s game: at Arkansas, RH Tekoah Roby (1-2, 2.66) vs. Reid VanScoter LHP (0-0, 0.00) 4:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs were victorious over the Timber Rattlers by four runs in Friday’s road game.
Starter Darlin Saladin pitched five innings, gave up two runs on six hits, struck out two and walked two to earn his first win.
D.J. Carpenter relieved Saladin and threw a scoreless sixth. Michael Watson surrendered two runs in two innings. Joseph King tossed a scoreless ninth.
Wisconsin scored one run in the top the second. Peoria tied the game in the home half of the frame. Michael Curialle singled and later crossed the plate on a single by Brayden Jobert.
The Chiefs added a run in the third for a 2-1 lead. Bryce Madron doubled and came home on a single by Joshua Baez.

The Timber Rattlers tied the game in the top of the fifth, but Peoria answered in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 4-2. Again, Madron doubled and scored on a single by Baez. Ian Petrutz followed with a triple to plate Baez.
The Chiefs added to their lead with three runs in the seventh. Madron singled. Jon Jon Gazdar walked. Madron and Gazdar executed a double steal. Baez walked and Madron scored. Gazdar came home on a ground out by Petrutz. Curialle walked. Ryan Campos plated Baez on a single.
Wisconsin shrunk the lead to 7-4 in the top of the eighth. Peoria made it 8-4 in the bottom of the inning. Jobert singled. Trey Paige doubled. Gazdar walked. Jobert came home on a balk.
The Chiefs scored eight runs on 13 hits. Baez was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Jobert was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Madron was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Petrutz had two RBI.
On the bases, Madron stole his first base of the season. Gazdar swiped his fifth bag. Baez was caught stealing.
Peoria is 10-20 on the season.
Saturday’s game: vs. Wisconsin, Gerardo Salas RHP (0-3, 8.31) vs. Anthony Flores LHP (0-1, 5.79) 7:05 CT.
The Class-A Cardinals bullpen was walloped as Palm Beach fell to the Hammerheads in a 10-1 blowout on Friday.
Starter Leonel Sequera pitched five scoreless innings, allowed four hits and fanned six.
Yordy Herrera relieved Sequera and surrendered two runs in two innings. Herrera took the loss. Mason Burns yielded four runs in 1 2/3 innings. Sam Brodersen allowed four runs in the final 1/3 of an inning.
The Beach Birds scored their only run in the fourth on a solo home run by Josh Kross. Jupiter scored two runs in the sixth to take the lead.

The wheels came off the Beach Birds’ bus in the ninth, as the Hammerheads put up eight runs.
Palm Beach scored one run five hits. Kross was 2-for-4 with an RBI. The offense was 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
Sammy Hernandez stole his first base of the season.
Palm Beach is 17-14 in 2025.

FCL Cardinals 6 at FCL Marlins 8
The rookie-level Cardinals lost to the Marlins by an 8-6 score in Jupiter on Friday. Starter Keiverson Ramirez pitched three innings, gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out one.
Alan Reyes relieved Ramirez and surrendered two runs, one earned, in 2 1/3 innings. Giovanny Vargas threw 2/3 of a scoreless inning. In his first game down from Palm Beach, Samuel Fabian yielded two runs, one earned, in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss. Antoni Cuello tossed the final 2/3 of a scoreless inning.
Without the benefit of a hit, the Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Andru Arthur walked, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Raniel Rodriguez was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Arthur scored on a wild pitch, and Rodriguez moved to third. Rodriguez came home on a balk.
The Marlins tied the game in the home first, added one run in the second and one in the third to lead 4-2.
In the top of the sixth, the Cardinals scored three runs to take a 5-4 lead. Arthur and Yairo Padilla singled. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Rodriugez reached on a fielder’s choice out as Arthur was thrown out at home. Facundo Velasquez walked. Padilla scored on a wild pitch, and other runners advanced. Rodriguez came home on a passed ball. Hancel Almonte walked. Velasquez scored on a passed ball.
The Marlins answered with two runs in the home sixth to regain the lead 6-5. The Cardinals tied the game in the seventh. Alejandro Loaiza singled and later came home on a passed ball.
The Marlins put up two runs in the eighth to lead 8-6 and the Cardinals were unable to answer.
The Cardinals scored six runs on four hits. None of the hits produced a run as all runs scored on wild pitches, passed balls, or balks.
Arthur was 2-for-4. The offense was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
On the bases, Arthur stole his first base of the season. Padilla swiped his fifth bag. Padilla and Rodriguez were both caught stealing.
On defense, Yoerny Junco made a throwing error. Bracewell Taveras had a fielding miscue.
The Cardinals are 1-4 on the season.
