The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day are both from Springfield. Tink Hence pitched seven one-run innings with 10 strikeouts, and 2B Bryan Torres was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Other standouts include Nick Raposo, Zach Levenson, Dakota Harris and Joseph King.

The Memphis Redbirds were edged on the road by the Knights by a 4-3 score on Tuesday. Starter Adam Kloffenstein pitched five innings, gave up four runs on five hits, struck out four and walked three. Kloffenstein took the loss, his fourth of the season.
Connor Thomas relieved and threw two scoreless innings. Chris Roycroft tossed a scoreless eighth.
Memphis took the lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Nick Raposo. Charlotte quickly tied the game in the home half of the inning.

The Knights took a 4-2 lead in the third. There was no further scoring until the ninth, when the Redbirds cut the lead to 4-3. Raposo singled and later scored on a ground out by Victor Scott II, but the rally ended there.
Memphis scored three runs on 10 hits. Raposo was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Alfonso Rivas and César Prieto were each 2-for-4.
In his first rehab contest, St. Louis’ Dylan Carlson batted third as the designated hitter. In his three plate appearances, the switch-hitter walked twice and struck out.
On the base paths, Scott stole his third base. Prieto was picked off and caught stealing.
Memphis is 12-15 for the season.
Wednesday’s game: at Charlotte, RHP Gordon Graceffo (2-2, 4.88) vs. RHP Jake Woodford 10:05 am.
On Tuesday, the Springfield Cardinals defeated the Drillers by the score of 6-2 in the first of the six-game series in Tulsa. Starter Tink Hence pitched a career-high 94 pitches over seven innings, gave up just one run on two hits, struck out 10 and walked two to win his third game of the season.

Ryan Shreve relieved and surrendered one unearned run in the eighth. Andre Granillo tossed a scoreless ninth.
Springfield went up 1-0 in the first inning. Bryan Torres singled and Nathan Church doubled. Torres scored on a sac fly by R.J. Yeager. Tulsa tied the game in the third.
The Cardinals scored four runs in the fifth to lead 5-1. Jeremy Rivas walked. Wade Stauss was hit by a pitch. Chris Rotondo singled. Torres hit a bases clearing double and scored on a ground out by Church.

Springfield increased the lead to 6-1 in the top of the eighth. Jacob Buchberger doubled, advanced to third on an error and scored on a sac bunt by Stauss.
Tulsa cut the lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the eighth.
The Cardinals scored six runs on nine hits. Torres was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Torres was the only Cardinal with multiple hits.
In the field, Buchberger made a throwing error. Hence picked a runner off first base.
Springfield is 15-7 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: at Tulsa, Tekoah Roby RHP (1-0, 5.68) vs. Ben Casparius RHP (1-1, 4.41) 11:00 am CT.
The Peoria Chiefs clobbered the Kernels by an 11-6 score in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, breaking their five-game losing skid. Starter Brycen Mautz pitched five innings, gave up five runs on four hits, struck out eight and walked three.
Zane Mills relieved Mautz and surrendered one run in two innings to earn his third win of the season. Joseph King tossed the final two scoreless innings on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks for his fourth save.
Peoria went up 1-0 in the first inning. Michael Curialle reached on an error. Leonardo Bernal singled. Curialle scored on a single by Dakota Harris.
The Chiefs made it 2-0 in the top of the third on a solo home run by Alex ladisernia. Cedar Rapids came back with five runs in the home half of the third.
Peoria cut the lead to 5-3 in the fifth. Joshua Baez singled and later scored on a single by Curialle. The Chiefs tied the game in the top of the seventh. Zach Levenson hit a solo home run. ladisernia singled and later came home on a sac fly by Curialle.

The Kernels scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead 6-5. In the eighth, Peoria went back up, 8-6. Won-Bin Cho tripled and scored on a wild pitch. William Sullivan thumped a solo home run.
The Chiefs added four runs in the ninth for the final 11-6 edge. Curialle reached on an error. Anyelo Encarnacion pinch ran. Bernal doubled. Harris singled to plate Encarnacion and Bernal. Cho singled. Brody Moore singled to drive in Harris. Cho came home on a double by Levenson.

Peoria scored 11 runs on 17 hits. Levenson was 3-for-6 with two RBI. Harris was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Curialle was 2-for-4 with two RBI. ladisernia was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sullivan was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Cho and Bernal were each 2-for-5.
On the base paths, ladisernia stole his second base of the season. In the field, Mautz picked a runner off second base.
Peoria is 8-14 for the season.
Wednesday’s game: at Cedar Rapids, Cooper Hjerpe LHP (0-0, 5.56) vs. John Klein RHP (1-0, 3.18) 6:35 CT.
Palm Beach vs. Daytona (postponed)
This game in Jupiter was postponed due to inclement weather and will be played as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday, May 1. Both games will be seven innings.
