Cardinals Minor League Notebook – March 30, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-0 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 3B César Prieto, blasted the go-ahead home run in a two-RBI performance. Other standouts include Brycen Mautz, Joshua Baez and Scott Blewett.

Memphis Redbirds 6 at Gwinnett Stripers 5

On Sunday, the Memphis Redbirds rallied in the late innings to complete the weekend road sweep over the Gwinnett Stripers.

Brycen Mautz started for Memphis in his Triple-A debut. The left-hander pitched five innings and allowed one run on two hits, four walks, and six strikeouts.

Lefty Jared Schuster threw three innings and yielded four runs with four strikeouts but still collected the win in his organizational debut. Right-hander Scott Blewett tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts to pick up the save in his Cardinals system debut and the second save in his professional career.

The Redbirds opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Colton Ledbetter drew a lead-off walk and moved to second base on a Joshua Baez single. Ledbetter advanced to third base via a César Prieto flyout and scored on a single from Matt Koperniak for a 1-0 Memphis lead.

The Redbirds extended the lead in the second frame. Andy Yerzy walked and moved to third base via a Ledbetter single. Baez scorched a single to bring Yerzy home, with Ledbetter to third base and Baez to second base.

Prieto followed with a third consecutive single to score Ledbetter, with Baez to home plate and Prieto to second base via an error for a 4-0 Memphis lead.

The Stripers scored a run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead.

Memphis tied the game in the eighth. Prieto launched his first home run of the season, a solo shot, to tie the game at five.

Memphis reclaimed the lead with a run in the ninth. Brody Moore and Ledbetter began the inning with back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners.

Prieto was hit by a pitch to load the bags with one out. Leo Bernal grounded into a forceout, with Prieto out at second base, and Moore scoring to give the Redbirds a 6-5 lead.

Memphis held Gwinnett to just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position in the win.

The Redbirds scored six runs on nine hits. Prieto was 2-for-4 with the go-ahead home run in a two-RBI day. Baez was 2-for-5 with a run scored and one RBI. Bernal walked, singled, and drove in a run. Koperniak singled and notched an RBI. Ledbetter singled twice and scored twice.

On the basepaths, Bernal swiped second base. Defensively, third baseman Prieto made a throwing error. Bernal picked a runner off first base from behind the plate.

Memphis is 3-0 following the road series sweep of Gwinnett. They are off on Monday and will begin their first home series of 2026 on Tuesday, a six-game set with the Norfolk Tides.

Tuesday’s game: vs. Norfolk (BAL). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT.
