The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-3 on Friday. Our Player of the Day is DSL Cardinals Blue shortstop Darlyn Del Villar, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Palm Beach and Peoria also won.

The Redbirds were defeated by the Aces on Friday at Auto Zone Park. The game was scoreless until the seventh, when an RBI single by Alex Mejia plated the first and only run for Memphis. The offense managed only five hits, including doubles by Oscar Mercado and Andrew Knizner.
Starter Kevin Herget pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing seven hits while fanning 10 and walking one. Hector Mendoza pitched the eighth and gave up three runs to take the loss and also a blown save. Sean Gilmartin pitched a scoreless ninth.
Tyler O’Neill stole his second base in two attempts. Mejia stole his first base in two attempts.
The Redbirds are 37-25 on the season and are in first place in the PCL American Southern.

Springfield 6 at NW Arkansas 7

The Cardinals absorbed a one-run road loss to the Naturals on Friday. Starter Anthony Shew suffered his second loss with Springfield. Shew pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking three. Estarlin Arias surrendered the final two runs in his 1 2/3 innings of relief. Yeison Medina pitched a scoreless eighth.
The Cardinals offense scored two in the first inning to take the lead. A Lane Thomas double and a Victor Roache single plated the two runs. Springfield added a run in the sixth on a single by Jeremy Martinez. The Naturals put up a five run bottom frame to take the lead and then added another run in the seventh. The Cardinals attempted to come back with a Chris Chinea solo home run and an RBI single by Stefan Trosclair in the eighth. Roache plated a run on a single in the ninth, but the rally fell short. Roache and Evan Mendoza went 2-for-5. Martinez was 3-for-4 and Tommy Edman was 2-for-5.
Edman stole his eighth base in 10 attempts. Chinea, Roache, and Edman each made a fielding error.
The Cardinals are 30-30 on the season and slipped into second place in the Texas League North.

The Cardinals edged the Tortugas in regulation on Friday. Starter Casey Meisner pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits. The right hander struck out five and walked one. Eric Carter followed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief and was the winning pitcher. Will Latcham pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his eighth save.
The Palm Beach offense put up two runs in the first inning on a sac fly by Andy Young and a single by Johan Mieses. In the third, Taylor Bryant drove in a run on a single to center. Two innings later, Dylan Carlson blasted a two-run home run. Young plated another on a single in the sixth, and Jose Godoy did the same in the seventh on a fly ball single to center. Mieses went 2-for-4. Shane Billings was 2-for-5 and Bryant was 3-for-4.
Mieses stole his first base in his initial attempt. Godoy swiped his second bag in two tries for Palm Beach. Carlson made a fielding error.
The Cardinals are 34-21 on the season and are tied for first place in the FSL South.

The Chiefs defeated the River Bandits at Dozer Park on Friday. The offense did its damage in innings four and five. In the fourth, three runs came home on Zach Kirtley’s RBI double and Julio Rodriguez’ two-run home run. In the fifth, Elehuris Montero plated a run on a single, and Yariel Gonzalez’ sac fly drove in another. Jose Martinez went 2-for-3.
Starter Johan Oveido pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up one run on four hits. The right hander struck out four and walked four. Andrew Summerville followed with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. C.J. Saylor and Thomas St. Clair combined for the two more run-free relief frames, with St. Clair earning his fourth save.
Bryce Denton had an outfield assist, throwing a runner out at home.
The Chiefs are 35-26 on the season and are in first place in the Midwest League Western.

DSL Cardinals Blue 10, DSL Angels 0

The Cardinals Blue team pummeled the DSL Angels on Friday in their third straight game scoring at least 10 runs. Starter Julio Puello pitched four scoreless innings, allowing two hits while fanning five and walking three. Leonardo Taveras followed with three scoreless innings and was the winning pitcher. Freddy Pacheco tossed the final two scoreless innings.
The Blue offense scored 10 runs on 13 hits. Leudy Pena’s two-run home run in the second inning put Blue on the board. In the third, Jean Selmo plated a run on a single. The Cardinals Blue put up four runs in the fourth. Darlyn Del Villar drew a bases loaded walk to begin the scoring. Selmo doubled in two, then Yowelfy Rosario added an RBI single. In the fifth, Del Villar doubled in a run, and Pablo Gomez plated another on a single. Luis Rodriguez’ ground out brought the 10th and final run home in the sixth. Player of the Day Del Villar went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Selmo was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Rosario was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
The Cardinals Blue are 5-1 on the season and tied for first place in the DSL South.

DSL Cardinals Red 6 at DSL Mets2 7
The Red team were edged by the Mets2 on Friday. Red got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning on Luis Montano’s sac fly. Two runs in the fourth came home on a Joyser Garcia double, and a Luis Andujar single. In the sixth, Montano tripled in a run, and Claudio Ramirez added a sac fly. Another sac fly in the seventh by Cristhian Longa finished the Red scoring. Garcia went 3-for-4, and Montano went 2-for-3.
Starter Jose Moreno pitched five innings, giving up four runs on six hits while fanning seven and walking two. Rodard Avelino surrendered two runs in the sixth inning. Roy Garcia pitched the final two innings and gave up the winning run. Garcia was tagged with a blown save and the loss.
The base paths were busy. Andujar stole his first base in his first attempt. Franklin Soto stole his third bag in six tries. Montano was caught stealing for the second time in two attempts. Andujar committed a fielding error. Catcher Longa had a passed ball. Adanson Cruz had two outfield assists, throwing runners out at second base and at home.
The Cardinals Red are 3-3 on the season and are in second place, one game back of four teams tied for first place in the DSL San Pedro Division.
