The St. Louis Cardinals system was 5-0 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day is DSL Cardinals DH Arfeni Batista, who was 2-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored in the DSL Cardinals trouncing of the DSL Marlins. Other standouts include Yordalin Pena, Chris Rotondo, Pedro Pages, and Ivan Herrera.

The Memphis Redbirds edged the Durham Bulls in a 4-3 win at AutoZone Park on Tuesday. Starter Michael McGreevy pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on seven hits, struck out three and walked two.
Ryan Loutos relieved McGreevy and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Loutos got the win, his second of the season. Andrew Suarez hurled a scoreless eighth. Jake Walsh tossed a scoreless ninth and earned his second save.
Durham took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. In the fourth, Memphis scored two runs to tie the game. Dylan Carlson, in his first rehab start, singled. Ivan Herrera singled and Taylor Motter plated Carlson and Herrera on a double.

Ivan Herrera blasted a two-run home run in the sixth to give the Redbirds a 4-2 lead. The Bulls responded with one run in the ninth to bring the final score to 4-3.

Herrera was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Masyn Winn was 2-for-4. Motter had two RBI.
In the field, Carlson had an outfield assist at second base.
Memphis is 32-25 on the season and is in third place in the International League West, 1.5 games back of St. Paul.

The Springfield Cardinals beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in a 5-run win at Hammons Field on Tuesday. Starter Edgar Escobar pitched five scoreless innings, allowed one hit, struck out five and walked three to earn his sixth win of the season.
In relief, Ryan Shreve surrendered one run in 2 2/3 innings. Andre Granillo tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
Springfield put up five runs in the second inning. Arquimedes Gamboa hit a ground rule double and Justin Toerner singled to score Gamboa. Toerner stole second base and Wade Stauss plated Toerner on a double. Stauss advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Mike Antico walked and Stauss scored on a sac fly by Noah Mendlinger. Pedro Pages hit a two-run home run to bring the score to 5-0.

The score remained 5-0 until the seventh inning. NW Arkansas scored one run in the top of the seventh. In the home half of the seventh, the Cardinals added their sixth run. Mike Antico walked and advanced to second and third on two balks. Antico scored on a ground out by Pages.
Pages was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Chandler Redmond was 3-for-3.
On the base paths, Toerner stole his second base of the season and Antico swiped his 16th bag. Irving Lopez was picked off first base.
In the field, Jacob Buchberger made a throwing error.
Springfield is 24-28 on the season and is in third place in the Texas League North, 11.5 games back of Tulsa.

Peoria 6, Beloit 5 (10 innings)
The Peoria Chiefs topped the Beloit Sky Carp in an extra-innings contest on Tuesday at Dozer Park. Starter Dionys Rodriguez pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up four runs on seven hits, struck out one and walked four.
Edgar Manzo relieved Rodriguez and surrendered one run in 3 2/3 innings of relief. Andrew Marrero threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Roy Garcia tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his first win.
Beloit took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. In the home half of the fourth, Peoria cut the lead to 4-2 on a two-run home run by Jeremy Rivas.

Beloit added to their lead with one run scored in the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, the Chiefs answered with two runs to make it 5-4. The inning began with a walk to Osvaldo Tovalin and Ramon Mendoza followed with a single. Thomas Francisco doubled, and Tovalin scored. Mendoza scored on a ground out by Victor Scott II.

Peoria tied the game at 5-5 in the eighth on a sac fly by Mendoza.
In the 10th, with Jimmy Crooks on second base, Rivas bunted, advancing Crooks to third. Crooks scored on a second sac fly by Mendoza.
Francisco was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nathan Church was 2-for-4. Mendoza and Rivas each had two RBI.
On the base paths, Church stole two bases. Scott II was picked off and caught stealing.
Peoria is 24-28 on the season and is in fourth place in the Midwest League West, 5.5 games back of Cedar Rapids.

The Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads in a 5-2 game at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday. Starter Pete Hansen pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up one run on five hits, struck out seven and walked one to earn his fourth win of the season.
Augusto Calderon relieved Hansen and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Angel Cuenca surrendered one run in the eighth. Edwin Nunez tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his fifth save.
The Beach Birds took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on a two-run triple by Chris Rotondo and a single by Lizandro Espinoza.
Jupiter cut the lead to 3-1 in the fifth. In the sixth, the Cardinals added a fourth run. Rotondo doubled and scored on a single by Joshua Baez. Palm Beach led 4-1.
The Cardinals widened the tally to 5-1 in the seventh on a double by R.J. Yeager. The Hammerheads scored a final run in the eighth to make it 5-2.
Rotondo was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
On the base paths, Rotondo stole his sixth base of the season. Baez was picked off and caught stealing.
In the field, Michael Curialle made a fielding error.
Palm Beach is 31-21 on the season and is in first place in the Flordia State League East.

FCL Cardinals – Off Day

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals walloped Miami in a 15-0 contest on Tuesday morning. Starter Yadiel Batista pitched five scoreless innings, allowed three hits and struck out six to earn his first win of the season.
Jose Suriel relieved Batista and threw a scoreless sixth. Emisale Carrera, Kener Perez, and Giovanni Vargas each tossed a scoreless inning.
The Cardinals scored their first run of the game in the first inning. Elias Reynoso drew a walk. Reynoso advanced to second and third on two wild pitches. Reynoso scored on a ground out by Arfeni Batista.
The Cardinals added five more runs in the fourth inning. Daniel Rojas singled and advanced to third on an error on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Carlos Carmona. Luis Atocha was hit by a pitch and Rojas scored on a sac fly by Chris Lopez. Reynosa ground into a force out and Carmona scored. Reynoso scored on a double by A. Batista. Yordalin Pena tripled, A. Batista scored and Pena scored on an error.
The score increased to 7-0 in the fifth on a single by Lopez. Reynoso plated a run in the seventh on a sac fly.
In the eighth, the Cardinals put up seven runs to make it 15-0. Pena singled and Hancel Almonte walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Bracewell Taveras reached on an error and Pena scored on an error. Almonte scored on a wild pitch, Chris Lopez walked and Taveras scored on another wild pitch. Reynoso singled and Rojas scored. A. Batista doubled to plate Lopez and scored on a single by Pena.
A. Batista was 2-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored. Pena was 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Lopez was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Almonte had two hits. Reynoso had three RBI and three runs scored.
On the base paths, Rojas stole his first base of the season. In the field, Carmona made a throwing error and Pena had a fielding miscue. Pena also had an outfield assist at second base.
The DSL Cardinals are 2-0 on the season.
