The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-4 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day, the Peoria Chiefs offense, relentlessly fought back to score 14 runs in a comeback win, highlighted by a walk-off three-run home run by Jalin Flores. Other standouts include Jack Gurevitch, Tre Richardson III, Sammy Hernandez, José Suarez, and Misael Sánchez.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were blanked by the Louisville Bats in a 6-0 loss on Friday.
Starter Bruce Zimmerman pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on six hits, walked one, and fanned four. Zimmerman took the loss.
Scott Blewett relieved Zimmerman and recorded the final out of the sixth inning without allowing a run. Skylar Hales hurled a scoreless seventh. Hancel Rincon surrendered three runs in the eighth. Luis Gastelum tossed a scoreless ninth.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when Louisville put up a three-run frame to lead 3-0. They added three more runs in the eighth to double the lead to 6-0.
Memphis was held to just three hits. Bligh Madris was 2-for-4. The only extra-base hit was a double from Brody Moore. The offense was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
Memphis is 37-24 on the season and in second place in the International League West Division.

The Double-A Springfield Cardinals suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Frisco RoughRiders on Friday.
Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched four innings and gave up five runs, two earned, on two hits, four walks, and five strikeouts. Cijntje took the loss.
Dominic Picone relieved Cijntje and surrendered three runs in 1 ⅔ innings of relief. Ryan Murphy threw 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. D.J. Carpenter yielded three unearned runs in the eighth.
Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Jon Jon Gazdar walked. Rainiel Rodriguez singled. Ryan Campos drove in Gazdar on a second consecutive single.
Frisco put up a five-run bottom of the first to take a 5-1 lead. In the fifth, the Cardinals scored one run on Jose Cordoba’s first Double-A home run to cut the lead to 5-2.

Springfield made it 5-3 in the sixth. Campos singled and stole second base. Campos advanced to third base on a balk and crossed home plate via a wild pitch.
The RoughRiders scored three runs in the sixth and three runs in the eighth, to run up the score and win 11-3.
The Cardinals scored three runs on eight hits. Campos was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Miguel Villarroel was 2-for-4. Cordoba hit a solo home run.
On the bases, Campos stole his 11th base of the season. Miguel Ugueto was caught stealing second base.
Defensively, shortstop Villarroel made two throwing errors.
Springfield is 25-29 on the season. They are in third place in the Texas League North Division.

The High-A Chiefs walked-off the Beloit Sky Carp in a 14-13 slugfest at Dozer Park on Friday night.
Starter Leonel Sequera pitched 3 ⅓ innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.
Ruben Menes relieved Sequera and surrendered three runs in 2 ⅔ innings of relief. Dominic Freeberger relinquished four runs in ⅔ innings. Gerardo Salas yielded one run in 1 ⅓ innings. Christian Worley tossed a scoreless ninth to earn the win.
Beloit went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Peoria answered with a run to tie the game in the home half of the first. Jesús Báez singled and scored on a triple by Jalin Flores.

In the top of the fourth, the Sky Carp scored four runs to move ahead 5-2. Peoria answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 5-4.
Anyelo Encarnación and Sammy Hernandez blasted back-to-back solo home runs.

Beloit added two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-4 The Chiefs answered in the bottom of the sixth with four runs to tie the game.
José Suárez singled, stole second base, and went to third base on a wild pitch. Hernandez plated Suárez on a single. Hernandez stole second base. Luis Pino walked but was caught stealing second base. Richardson III hit a two-run home run, his second multi-home run game of the week.

The Sky Carp came back to plate four runs in the top of the seventh to regain the lead at 12-8. Peoria posted a two-run frame in the bottom of the seventh to shrink the lead to 12-10.
Encarnación, Hernandez, and Pino walked to load the bases. Richardson III drove in Encarnación and Hernandez on a single.

Beloit added a run in the top of the eighth. The Chiefs took the run back in the bottom of the eighth for a score of 13-11. Flores singled and scored on a double by Suárez.
In the ninth, after the Sky Carp failed to score in the top of the inning, Peoria rallied for three runs to walk it off 14-13.
Richardson III III and Gurevitch walked. Flores sent everyone home with a walk-off three-run home run.

The Chiefs scored 14 runs on 16 hits. Richardson III was 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored. Flores was 3-for-6 with a triple, a walk-off home run, four RBI, and two runs scored. Hernandez was 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. Encarnación walked twice, scored twice, and hit a home run. Gurevitch collected two hits, including a triple and an RBI. Suárez notched two hits, including a double and an RBI. Báez scored two runs.
On the basepaths, Suárez stole two bags for 11 steals on the year. Hernandez swiped his fourth bag. Encarnación stole his third base. Hernandez and Pino were both caught stealing second base.
On defense, right fielder Suárez committed a fielding error.
Peoria is 28-27 on the season. They are in third place in the Midwest League West.

Palm Beach Cardinals 2 at Tampa Tarpons 8
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals fell to the Tampa Tarpons in an 8-2 contest on Friday.
Starter Brian Holiday pitched four innings, gave up five runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out one. Holiday took the loss.
Yadiel Batista relieved Holiday and surrendered three runs, two earned, in 2 ⅔ innings of relief. Liam Best tossed the final 1 ⅓ scoreless innings.
Tampa took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. They added four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to lead 7-0.
Palm Beach got on the board with one run scored in the sixth, to cut the lead to 7-1. Ryan Mitchell tripled and scored on an error.
The Tarpons extended their lead to 8-1 in the seventh. The Cardinals rallied for one more run in the ninth to shrink the score to 8-2.
Yordalin Peña reached second base on an error and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Trevor Haskins hit a sac fly to score Peña.
The offense scored two runs on three hits. Mitchell was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. Matthew Miura and Haskins each recorded an RBI.
Brayden Smith stole his 15th base of the season. Miura stole two bases. Miura was also picked off first base and caught stealing second base.
On defense, Heriberto Carballo was charged with catcher interference.
The Cardinals are 30-25 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East.
Saturday’s game: at Tampa, Jack Martinez RHP (0-4, 4.06) vs. Tyler Boudreau RHP (1-2, 3.32) 5:30 CT.
FCL Cardinals 0 at FCL Nationals 2
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were blanked by the FCL Nationals by the score of 2-0 on Friday.
Starter Cooper Hjerpe, rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, pitched one scoreless, no-hit inning with one strikeout.
Jan Cabrera relieved Hjerpe and surrendered two runs in four innings and took the loss. Giovanni Vargas tossed the final scoreless inning.
The Nationals scored one run in the third and one run in the fourth to take the lead and win the game 2-0.
The Cardinal offense was no-hit by the Nationals pitching. They walked five times and struck out 10 times. The offense was 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
Royelny Strop stole his fourth base of the season.
The Cardinals are 7-16 on the season. They are in last place in the FCL East.

DSL Cardinals 8 at DSL Miami 7 (eight innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals defeated DSL Miami in an 8-7 extra-innings win on Friday.
Starter Efrén Álvarez pitched 3 ⅔ innings, gave up two runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out three.
Andey Garrido relieved Álvarez and threw ⅓ scoreless innings of relief. Emilio Jiménez surrendered one run in 2 ⅔ innings pitched. Brayan Amoroso yielded four runs in the final 1 ⅓ innings but held on to pick up the win.
Miami took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Cardinals tied the game in the second.
Lucas Takahashi and Jhonny Chaparro walked. Diego Conseción singled to score Takahashi.
The Cardinals added a run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by Hector Cabrera to lead 2-1.
Miami answered with a run in the home half of the fourth to tie the game 2-2.
In the fifth, the Cardinals scored a run to lead 3-2. Christopher Vargas singled and advanced to second on a throwing error. Misael Sánchez plated Vargas on a single.
Miami tied the game again in the seventh to force extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Cardinals put up a five-run frame to go ahead 8-3.
Takahashi started the inning on second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Cabrera walked. Takahashi came home on a ground out by Conseción. Cabrera advanced to third on a wild pitch. Roberth Castillo tripled to plate Cabrera.
Vargas was hit by a pitch. Luis Estrella walked. Sánchez drove in Vargas and Estrella on a single.
Miami responded with four runs in the bottom of the eighth to bring the final score to 8-7.
The Cardinals scored eight runs on nine hits. Sánchez was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Castillo was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Conseción was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Cabrera walked, hit a home run, and scored twice. Vargas was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Takahashi walked twice and scored two runs.
On the bases, Sánchez stole his first base of the season.
On defense, pitcher Álvarez picked a runner off first base to highlight an errorless game.
The DSL Cardinals are 3-1 on the season.
