The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 3-3 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield DH Trey Paige, was 3-for-5 with four RBI in the Cardinals’ win over Wichita. Other standouts include Ramon Mendoza, Leonardo Bernal, Deniel Ortiz, and Juan Perez.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds dropped a close contest to the Bulls in Durham on Friday.
Starter Zach Plesac pitched five innings, gave up three runs on five hits, fanned five, and walked three. Plesac took the loss.
Roddery Muñoz threw two scoreless innings in relief of Plesac. Gordon Graceffo tossed a scoreless eighth.
Durham took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added two runs in the third to lead 3-0.
Memphis scored their only run in the sixth. Michael Siani reached on an error and scored on a double by Jimmy Crooks.

The Redbirds scored one run six hits. Bryan Torres and César Prieto both were 2-for-4. Crooks doubled and drove in a run.
On the bases, Matt Lloyd stole his fourth base of the season. Prieto was caught stealing second base. The Redbirds did not commit an error on defense.
Memphis is 42-35 overall, 1-3 in the second half, and in ninth place in the International League West Division.
Saturday’s game: at Durham, Tekoah Roby RHP (1-1, 6. 61) vs. TBD (DUR) 5:35 CT.
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals defeated the Wichita Wind Surge in a 10-7 game on Friday.
Starter Tink Hence pitched 3 ⅓ innings and allowed five runs on four hits, five walks, and five strikeouts.
Andrew Marrero relieved Hence and surrendered two runs across 2 ⅓ innings. Austin Love threw 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. Nick Raquet tossed the final two scoreless frames to earn the win and improve to a 6-0 record.
Springfield took a 4-0 in the first inning.
Noah Mendlinger singled. Leonardo Bernal singled to put runners on the corners, and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Joshua Baez walked to load the bags. Dakota Harris reached on an error, with Mendlinger and Bernal home on the play. Trey Paige plated Baez and Harris with a single.
Wichita cut the lead to 4-1 in the second inning. The Cardinals added two runs in the top of the third to lead 6-1.
Leonardo Bernal singled and Ramon Mendoza followed with a two-run home run, his ninth of the season.
The Wind Surge put up four runs in the bottom of the third to shrink the lead to 6-5. Springfield added a run in the fourth.
Mendlinger singled. Jeremy Rivas reached base on an error, with Rivas and Mendlinger to second base and third base, respectively, on the play. Mendlinger came home on a sac fly by Bernal.
Wichita tied the game 7-7 in the fifth. The Cardinals rallied for three runs in the ninth to win 10-7.
Bernal and Mendoza singled to begin the frame. Harris was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Paige doubled to plate Bernal and Mendoza and give Memphis a two-run lead.

Harris scored on an R.J. Yeager sacrifice bunt for a 10-7 lead.
The Cardinals scored 10 runs on 13 hits. Paige was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI. Mendoza was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Bernal was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Mendlinger was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
On the bases, Baez stole his seventh base of the season. Paige swiped his third bag.
On defense, pitcher Marrero made a pickoff error. Third baseman Mendoza caught a sharply hit ball to keep the game tied in the sixth.

Springfield is 44-29 overall, 1-3 in the second half, and in last place in the Texas League North Division, two games back of NW Arkansas and Wichita (tied).
Saturday’s game: at Wichita, Max Rajcic RHP (2-3, 4.30) vs. Darren Bowen RHP (2-3, 3.97) 6:05 CT.
The High-A Peoria Chiefs defeated the Beloit Sky Carp in a 6-3 contest at Dozer Park on Friday.
Starter Chen-Wei Lin pitched 4 ⅓ innings, gave up three runs on three hits, struck out three and walked three.
Jawilme Ramirez relieved Lin and threw 1 ⅔ scoreless innings to earn his fourth win. Hunter Hayes hurled 2 ⅓ scoreless innings. D.J. Carpenter recorded the final two outs of the ninth to earn his second save.
Beloit took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Peoria answered with three runs in the home half of the third to take the lead 3-1.
Won-Bin Cho walked and stole second base. Tre Richardson doubled to score Cho.
Zach Levenson reached base on an error, with Levenson to second base, and Richardson home on the play. Ryan Campos plated Levenson on a single for a 3-1 Chiefs lead.
The Sky Carp added two runs in the fifth to tie the game.
In the sixth, the Chiefs put up three runs to regain the lead 6-3.
Campos walked. Miguel Villarroel singled. Michael Curialle drove in Campos and Villarroel on a single. Curialle advanced to second base on the play due to a throwing error, and scored on a double by Cho.
Peoria scored six runs on eight hits. Campos was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Cho doubled and drove in a run. Richardson doubled and tallied an RBI.
On the bases, Cho stole his ninth base of the season. Levenson was caught stealing second base.
On defense, pitcher Lin committed a pickoff error.
Peoria is 29-43 overall, 3-4 in the second half, and in fourth place in the Midwest League West, one game behind Beloit.
Saturday’s game: vs. Beloit, Jose Davila RHP (3-3, 6.36) vs. Luke Lashutka RHP (0-1, 40.50) 7:05 CT.
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals fell to the Daytona Tortugas on Friday.
Starter Nolan Sparks pitched three innings, gave up five runs on six hits, fanned four, and walked four.
Jack Findlay relieved Sparks and surrendered two runs across three innings. Findlay took the loss. Ernie Day yielded two runs in the seventh. Randel Clemente tossed a scoreless eighth.
The Beach Birds went up 2-0 in the top of the first inning on a two-run home run by Deniel Ortiz.
Daytona scored three runs in the home half of the first to take the lead 3-2.
The Tortugas added two runs in the second to lead 5-2. Palm Beach cut the lead to 5-4 with two runs in the third.
Raniel Rodriguez doubled. Ortiz followed with a second consecutive double to score Rodriguez. Ortiz advanced to third base on a wild pitch, and scored on a second wild pitch to move Palm Beach within a run at 5-4.
The Cardinals tied the game in the fifth.
Ortiz doubled. Luis Pino walked. Ortiz stole third, and then stole home.
Daytona broke the tie with two runs in the sixth and added two more runs in the seventh to lead 9-5. Palm Beach failed to respond.
Palm Beach scored five runs on six hits. Ortiz was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored. Rodriguez doubled and scored two runs.
On the bases, Yordalin Pena stole his 12th base of the season. Ortiz stole third base and home plate in the fifth, for 19 steals on the year.
On defense, catcher Sammy Hernandez made a throwing error. Center fielder Pino nailed a runner at third base. Jose Suarez threw a runner out at third base from left field.
Palm Beach is 34-38 overall, 2-5 in the second half, and tied for last place in the FSL East with Jupiter. They are four games back of St. Lucie.
Saturday’s game: at Daytona, TBD (PB) vs. Reynardo Cruz RHP (1-0, 4.50) 5:35 CT.
FCL Cardinals 2, FCL Marlins 8 (seven innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals fell to the FCL Marlins in an 8-2 game on Friday.
Starter Alan Reyes made his first professional start and pitched three scoreless innings on four hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
Antoni Cuello relieved Reyes, surrendered four runs in 2 ⅔ innings, and took the loss. Jovi Galvez yielded four runs in an inning pitched. Chris Lopez recorded the final out of the seventh.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Heriberto Caraballo walked. Yancel Guerrero singled. Caraballo advanced to third base on an error. Caraballo stole home for the first run of the game.
The Marlins put up three runs in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. They added a run in the fifth, and four runs in the sixth to increase the lead to 8-1.
The Cardinals added a run in the seventh to shrink the lead to 8-2.
Andru Arthur doubled. Arthur advanced to third on a ground out by Guerrero, and came home on a sac fly by Yasiel Ramos.
The FCL Cardinals scored two runs on four hits. Yairo Padilla was 2-for-4. Arthur doubled. The offense was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position, and left five men on base.
On the bases, Caraballo stole his second base of the season. Guerrero swiped his ninth bag. Padilla stole his 24th base.
On defense, catcher Caraballo made a throwing error.
The Cardinals are 16-19 on the season, and reside in fourth place in the Florida Complex League East, six games back of the FCL Astros. They will play a doubleheader with the FCL Mets on Saturday.

DSL Cardinals 15, DSL NYY Bombers 10
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals bested the DSL NYY Bombers on Friday in a 15-10 slugfest.
Starter Hendrick Cana threw four scoreless innings, allowed two hits, fanned six, and walked three.
Ryan Rodriguez surrendered three runs in the fifth. Pedro Olivero yielded six runs in 2 ⅓ innings, but was awarded the win. Jesus Garcia allowed one run in the final 1 ⅔ innings.
The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Miguel Hernandez was hit by a pitch, and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Juan Rujano was hit by a pitch. Hernandez stole third base, and Rujano stole second base on a double steal. Yaxson Lucena singled to score Hernandez. Rujano came home on a passed ball. Cristofer Lebron plated Lucena with a single.
The Cardinals added a run in the second to lead 4-0.
Yeferson Portolatin walked and stole second base. Rujano drove in Portolatin on a single.
The Bombers scored their first run in the top of the fifth. The Cardinals answered with a five-run bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 9-1.
Edward Guribe singled, and Lucena walked to start the inning. Michael Cordero doubled to score Guribe.
Hector Cabrera reached base on an error, with Lucena home on the play. Jesus Perez walked. Portolatin plated Cordero and Cabrera with a double.
Perez scored on a sacrifice fly by Hernandez.
The Bombers put up five runs in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 9-6. The Cardinals responded with five more runs in the home half of the inning to widen the lead to 14-6.
Guribe singled. Lucena walked. Lebron walked, loading the bases. Cabrera drew a bases-loaded walk to score Guribe. Perez cleared the bases with a double, and later scored on a wild pitch.
The Bombers added four runs in the top of the eighth to trim the lead to 14-10. The Cardinals made it 15-10 in the bottom of the eighth.
Perez singled. Portolatin walked. Perez scored on a single by Hernandez.
The Cardinals scored 15 runs on 11 hits. Perez was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI, and three runs scored. Portolatin was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Guribe was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Hernandez tallied two RBI. Cabrera recorded two RBI and two runs scored. Lucena singled, drew three walks, and scored three runs. The lineup drew 11 walks and struck out just four times.
On the bases, Hernandez stole his seventh base of the season. Rujano swiped his first bag. Lebron stole two bases. Portolatin stole his ninth base. Lebron was caught stealing third base.
On defense, pitcher Cana picked a runner off second base. Pitcher Oliver picked a runner off first base. Catcher Cabrera had a passed ball.
The DSL Cardinals are 10-7 on the season.
