The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day is DSL Cardinals 2B Bracewell Taveras, who was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Cardinals’ loss to the Giants Black. Other standouts include Arfeni Batista and Anyelo Encarnacion.

FCL Cardinal 5 at FCL Astros 1
The Florida Complex League Cardinals defeated the Astros in a 5-1 contest on Tuesday. Starter Inohan Paniagua, on a rehab assignment, pitched one scoreless inning, allowed one hit and struck out two.
Darlin Saladin relieved Paniagua and surrendered one run in four innings of relief. Ettore Giuliannelli threw a scoreless sixth. Yonael Dominguez, John Lynch, and Alejandro Cervantes each tossed a scoreless inning.
The Astros scored their only run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. In the seventh, the Cardinals put up five runs to take the lead 5-1. Anyelo Encarnacion hit a solo home run.
Yancel Guerrero and Yaisel Ramos each drew a walk. Jake Burns doubled to score Guerrero. Miguel Vargas pinch ran for Burns, Ramos scored on a wild pitch and Jonathan Mejia singled to plate Vargas. Mejia scored on a single by Luis Pino.
The Cardinal offense scored five runs on eight hits. Jose Cordoba was 2-for-3 and was the only Cardinal with multiple hits.
In the field, Luis Rodriguez made a throwing error. Saladin picked a runner off first base.
The Cardinals are 7-8 on the season.
Wednesday’s game: Off day.
DSL Cardinals 4, DSL Giants Black 21
The Cardinals were blown out by the Giants Black in a 21-4 game on Tuesday after 10 Cardinal errors. This game was a completion of a rained out game from June 19. Original starter Nelfy Ynfante did not throw a pitch before the game was suspended. In the completed game, starter Ronny Oliver pitched 1 2/3 innings, gave up 11 runs, four earned, on six hits, struck out two and walked two.
Stiveen Rojas relieved Oliver and threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Justin Hernandez surrendered six runs, five earned, in 1 2/3 innings. Jovi Galvez tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Jarol Baez relinquished four unearned runs in the ninth.
The Giants Black scored seven runs in the first inning, then scored four more runs in the second. The Cardinals got on the board in the fourth with one run on a single by Bracewell Taveras.
Daniel Rojas drove in the Cardinals second run on a single in the fifth. The Giants answered with two runs in the sixth and four runs in the top of the seventh.
The Cardinals scored their final two runs in the home half of the seventh. Facundo Velasquez and Arfeni Batista singled. Velasquez was eliminated in a double play. Angel Gil walked and Taveras plated Batista and Gil on a double.
The Giants added four more runs in the ninth.
Taveras was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Batista was 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
In the field, Oliver made an error on a pickoff. Taveras made two throwing errors. Velasquez had a fielding miscue. Andru Arthur made two fielding errors and a throwing error. Batista had a throwing error. Luis Atocha made a throwing and fielding error. The Cardinals committed 10 errors in total.
The Cardinals are 3-8 on the season.
