Cardinals Minor League Notebook – June 27, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 5-3 on Friday as both Springfield and the DSL Cardinals both played doubleheaders. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day, the Springfield offense, scored 21 runs across two games of a doubleheader. The offense was led by Won-Bin Cho, who hit a grand slam and collected five RBI, Rainiel Rodriguez, who was 4-for-7 with a walk, two RBI and three runs scored, and Deniel Ortiz with a walk-off home run and four RBI. Other standouts include Ryan Campos, Travis Honeyman, Trevor Haskins, Ryan Weingartner, and Kenly Hunter.

Memphis 0 at Jacksonville 1

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were blanked by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in a 1-0 loss on Friday.

Starter Peter Hansen pitched six innings, gave up one run on one hit, walked one and struck out three. Hansen took the tough-luck loss.

Tink Hence relieved Hansen and threw a scoreless seventh. Brandt Thompson tossed a scoreless eighth.

Jacksonville went up 1-0 in the fourth inning. No other runs were scored in regulation.

Memphis was held to three hits. Colton Ledbetter had the only extra base hit, a double. Leo Bernal and Noah Mendlinger each hit a single. The offense was 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

Shortstop Thomas Saggese made a throwing error.

Memphis is 1-3 in the second half and 48-31 overall.

Saturday’s game: at Jacksonville, Quinn Mathews LHP (4-3, 4.01) vs. Karson Millbrandt RHP (0-0, 1.20) 5:35 CT.

Springfield 7, NW Arkansas 5 (seven innings, game one)

The Cardinals walked-off the Naturals in the first game of a twin bill in Springfield on Friday.

Starter Chen-Wei Lin pitched four innings and gave up five runs, two earned, on five hits, three walks, and five strikeouts.

Randel Clemente relieved Lin and threw two scoreless innings of relief. D.J. Carpenter tossed the final scoreless inning to collect the win.

NW Arkansas went up 2-0 in the second inning and added three runs in the top of the third to lead 5-0.

The Cardinals answered in the home half of the third with two runs to cut the lead to 5-2. Brody Moore singled, advanced to second on a ground out, and stole third base. Travis Honeyman walked. Rainiel Rodriguez doubled to score Moore.

Springfield added two runs in the fourth to shrink the gap to 5-4. Tre Richardson III and Jon Jon Gazdar singled. Richardson III came home on a sac fly by Moore. Dakota Harris tripled to plate Gazdar to move Springfield within one.

The Cardinals rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win in walk-off fashion. Honeyman and Rodriguez singled. Ortiz followed with a three-run home run, his first of the year, to win the game.

The offense scored seven runs on eight hits. Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Ortiz hit a walk-off home run with four RBI. Harris tripled and drove in a run. Honeyman scored twice.

On the bases, Richardson III stole his sixth base of the season. Moore swiped his fourth bag.

On defense, catcher Rodriguez made an error on a pickoff attempt and had a passed ball.

Springfield 14, NW Arkansas 2 (seven innings, game two)

The Cardinals walloped the Naturals in the second game of the twin bill by the score of 14-2.

Starter Liam Doyle pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked two and fanned seven.

Hunter Hayes relieved Doyle and threw a scoreless inning of relief. Andrew Schultz hurled a scoreless inning to earn the win. Edwin Nuñez surrendered one run in the final 1 1/3 innings.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Rainiel Rodriguez singled and Ryan Campos followed with a two-run home run, his ninth of 2026.

NW Arkansas scored one run in the top of the second to cut the lead to 2-1. Springfield answered with five runs in the home half of the second to increase the lead to 7-1.

Tre Richardson III singled and stole second base. Brody Moore singled home Richardson III for a 3-1 Springfield lead.

Dakota Harris  followed with a single, with Moore to third base on the play via an error. Travis Honeyman brought Moore home with a single. Harris scored on a single by Rodriguez to extend the lead to 5-1. Deniel Ortiz and Jesús Báez were hit by a pitch in consecutive at-bats to load the bases. Won-Bin Cho walked to bring Rodriguez home and widen the lead to 7-1.

The Cardinals added seven runs in the fifth to stretch the lead to 14-1.

Moore doubled. Honeyman and Rodriguez walked to load the bases with two outs. Campos singled home Moore for an 8-1 lead. Honeyman came home on a wild pitch. Ortiz walked to reload the bases. Báez drove in Rodriguez on a single. Cho followed with his second Double-A home run, a grand slam, to put the game out of reach at 14-1 Cardinals.

The Naturals added one run in the seventh to bring the final score to 14-2.

The Cardinals scored 14 runs on 13 hits. Cho walked, hit a grand slam, and totaled five RBI. Campos was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. Honeyman was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Moore was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Báez singled and notched two RBI.

On the bases, Richardson III stole his seventh base.

On defense, second baseman Moore made a fielding error. Center fielder Cho had an outfield assist at first base.

Springfield is 3-1 in the second half and 34-38 overall.

Saturday’s game: vs. NW Arkansas, Mason Molina LHP (2-2, 3.18) vs. Hunter Patteson LHP (2-3, 5.22) 6:35 CT.

Peoria 1 at Beloit 6

The High-A Peoria Chiefs fell to the Beloit Sky Carp in a 6-1 contest on Friday.

Starter Tanner Franklin pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked four and struck out three.

Ruben Menes relieved Franklin and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Nolan Sparks surrendered five runs in 2/3 innings and took the loss. Patrick Galle yielded one run in the final 1 1/3 innings.

The game was scoreless until Beloit put up five runs in the seventh inning to take the lead 5-0. Peoria scored their only run in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 5-1.

Michael Dattalo walked and Anyelo Encarnación singled. José Suárez doubled to plate Dattalo.

The Sky Carp added a run in the home half of the eighth for the final score of 6-1.

The Chiefs scored one run on four hits. Encarnación was 2-for-3. Suárez doubled for the lone Peoria extra-base hit and drove in a run.

On the bases, Jack Gurevitch was caught stealing second base. The Chiefs did not commit an error.

The Chiefs are 3-3 in the second half and 35-37 overall.

Saturday’s game: at Beloit, Leonel Sequera RHP (1-5, 8.47) vs. TBD (BEL) 6:35 CT.

Palm Beach 12, Bradenton 10

The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals beat the Bradenton Marauders in a 12-10 win at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday, moving to 10-0 against Bradenton on the year.

Starter Andrew Dutkanych IV pitched 1 2/3 innings, gave up six runs on three hits, walked three, and struck out two.

Zeke Wood relieved Dutkanych and surrendered one run in two innings of relief. Liam Best threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Rehabbing Tyler Bradt yielded one run in the seventh and picked up his first win. Antoni Cuello relinquished two runs in the final two innings.

Palm Beach took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Brayden Smith singled. Yairo Padilla singled. Padilla was eliminated in a double play by Ryan Mitchell. Ryan Weingartner singled to score Smith.

Bradenton scored six runs in the top of the second to take a 6-1 lead. The Cardinals answered with a run in the home half of the second on a solo home run by Heriberto Caraballo to cut the lead to 6-2.

The Marauders added a run in the third to increase the lead to 7-2. In the sixth, the Beach Birds added two runs to shrink the lead to 7-4.

Yordalin Peña walked and Trevor Haskins followed with a two-run home run, his seventh of the season.

The Cardinals put up five runs in the seventh to take the lead at 9-7.

Padilla doubled and advanced to third on a balk. Mitchell doubled home Padilla to bring the Cardinals within two. Peña walked. Ian Petrutz singled to plate Mitchell for a 7-6 contest. Peña scored on a double by Alex Birge to tie the game at seven.

Petrutz and Birge came home on a single by Haskins to put the Cardinals in front 9-7.

Bradenton scored one run in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 9-8. Palm Beach answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 12-8.

Mitchell singled and advanced to third on an error. Weingartner followed with a two-run home run, his ninth of the year.

Peña doubled, advanced on a ground out, and scored on a balk for a 12-8 Cardinals lead.

The Marauders added two runs in the ninth to bring the final score to 12-10.

The Cardinals scored 12 runs on 16 hits. Haskins was 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Weingartner was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Birge was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Mitchell was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Caraballo was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Smith and Padilla were both 2-for-4. Peña doubled and scored three runs.

On the bases, Smith stole his 21st base. Padilla swiped his first bag with Palm Beach. Haskins stole his 11th base. Smith was caught stealing.

The Cardinals are 6-1 in the second half and 39-34 overall.

Saturday’s game: vs. Bradenton, Payton Graham RHP (0-1, 5.12) vs. TBD (BRD) 5:00 CT.

FCL Cardinals 7 at FCL Mets 3 (seven innings)

The Cardinals beat the Mets in a 7-3 seven-inning contest on Friday.

Starter Jan Cabrera pitched five innings, gave up one run on five hits, walked two and struck out two to earn his first win.

Brailyn Paulino relieved Cabrera and threw 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Jarol Baéz surrendered two runs in the final 1 2/3 innings.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Cardinals put up four runs in the third to take the lead at 4-1.

Paulo Asprilla was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a throwing error. Chris Lopez and Miguel Hernández walked to load the bases. Asprilla and Lopez scored on an error to put the Cardinals ahead 2-1. Hernández scored on a double by Cristofer Lebrón.

Kenly Hunter plated Lebrón on a single for a 4-1 Cardinals lead.

The Cardinals added three runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1. Lebrón singled and advanced to second on an error. Hunter drove in Lebrón on a single.

Hunter came home on a triple by Royelny Strop for a 6-1 lead. Strop scored on a fielder’s choice by Bracewell Taveras to widen the lead to 7-1.

The Mets added two runs in the seventh for the final score of 7-3.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on eight hits. Hunter was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Lebrón was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Strop tripled, scored a run, and drove in a run.

On the bases, Hunter stole two bags for 10 steals on the year.

The Cardinals are 12-24 on the season and are in last place in the FCL East.

Saturday’s game: Off.

DSL Cardinals 12, DSL Colorado 15 (game one)

The Cardinals lost to Colorado in the first game of a twin bill by the score of 15-12. This was the conclusion of Thursday’s suspended game, which resumed with one out in the bottom of the third inning.

Starter Hendrick Caña pitched two innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on six hits, walked one and struck out two. Caña took the loss.

Juan Santillan relieved Caña and threw a scoreless third. Emilio Jiménez surrendered seven runs in three innings pitched. Jhon Cabrera yielded three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Kriscol Peralta tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Colorado took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added three runs in the top of the second to lead 4-0.

The Cardinals answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 4-2. Misael Sánchez walked and stole second base. Diego Conseción drove in Sánchez on a single.

Conseción stole second. Lucas Takahashi walked but was eliminated on a force out by Christian Sáez. Conseción came home on a single by Roberth Castillo to bring the Cardinals within two at 4-2.

Colorado increased the lead to 5-2 in the top of the third. The Cardinals added two runs in the home half of the third to shrink the lead to 5-4.

Michael Cordero walked and Sánchez doubled to put two runners in scoring position Jhonny Chaparro singled home Cordero and Sánchez to move the Cardinals within a run at 5-4.

Colorado extended the lead to 6-4 in the fourth. They tacked on four runs in the fifth and three runs in the top of the seventh to blow up the lead to 13-4.

The Cardinals responded with a five run bottom of the seventh to reduce the gap to 13-9. Christopher Vargas doubled. Cordero reached on an error. Sánchez doubled to score Vargas.

Conseción drove in Cordero and Sánchez on a single for a 13-7 score. Takahashi and Castillo singled. Conseción scored on a wild pitch for the eighth Cardinals run. Sebastian Rojas singled home Takahashi to move within four at 13-9.

Colorado put up two runs in the eighth to lead 15-9. The Cardinals rallied in the ninth for three runs to bring the final score to 15-12. Conseción hit a solo home run. Takahashi walked. Rojas followed with a two-run home run.

The FCL Cardinals scored 12 runs on 15 hits. Conseción was 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored. Rojas was 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBI. Castillo was 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI. Sánchez was 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and three runs scored. Chaparro had two RBI.

Sánchez stole his third base. Conseción swiped his second bag.

On defense, pitchers Caña and Jiménez both made an error on pickoff attempts. Third baseman Cordero had two throwing errors. Left fielder Sáez had a fielding miscue. Caña picked a runner off first base.

DSL Cardinals 6 at DSL Colorado 5 (seven innings, game two)

The Cardinals edged Colorado in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader.

Starter Efrén Álvarez pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on one hit, walked one and fanned seven.

Andey Garrido relieved Álvarez and surrendered two runs in one inning of relief but picked up the win. Brayan Amoroso tossed the final 2 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his first professional save.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run by Yeferson Portolatin.

Colorado answered with one run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The Cardinals took the lead 2-1 on a solo home run by Jesús Pérez in the second.

The Cardinals added three runs in the third to increase the lead to 5-1. Roberth Castillo singled, stole second base, and advanced to third on an error. Christopher Vargas walked. Luis Estrella followed with a three-run home run.

Colorado put up four runs in the home half of the fourth to shrink the lead to 6-5, but the Cardinals held on to win the game.

The DSL Cardinals scored six runs on nine hits. Castillo was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Pérez was 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Estrella had three RBI on a home run. Portolatin hit a home run.

Shortstop Conseción made a throwing error.

The DSL Cardinals are 10-9 on the season and are in third place in the DSL Southeast.
