The St. Louis Cardinals system went 1-1 on Monday after the FCL club took the lone win. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Yordalin Pena, was a double shy of the cycle with two RBI. Other standouts include Jonathan Mejia and Benjamin Arias.

Memphis Redbirds – Off
The Memphis Redbirds (39-36) sit in sixth place in the International League West.

The Peoria Chiefs (3-0) are atop the Midwest League West in the second half after three games.

After three losses, the Palm Beach Cardinals (0-3) are in last place in the Florida State League East second half.

FCL Cardinals 12, FCL Nationals 1
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (6-8) walloped the Nationals (7-9) on Monday afternoon at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Benjamin Arias pitched six solid innings with one run yielded on three hits. The 21-year-old struck out three and earned his first win of the season. Omar Yanez tossed a scoreless seventh inning.
In the first, the Cardinals put up two runs. Jonathan Mejia singled and stole second. Jose Suarez blasted a two-run home run, his third of the season. In the fifth, Mejia brought one across and Luis Rodriguez doubled to plate one.
The Cardinals scored eight runs in the sixth. Romtres Cabrera scored one and Luis Pino was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Mejia tripled to clear the bases and Rodriguez brought him across. Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch. Yancel Guerrero hit an RBI double to make the score 12-1.
In relief, Bruno Lopez struck out two in a scoreless frame. Randel Clemente threw a scoreless ninth inning.
Mejia went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and four RBI. Rodriguez and Suarez both drove in two runs. The lineup recorded eight hits and five walks. The pitching allowed four hits and no walks.
On the base paths, Mejia took his sixth bag of the season. Guerrero made an error at third base.
The Cardinals are tied for last place and are 2.5 games back of first in the Florida Complex League East.

DSL Cardinals 2 at DSL Phillies Red 4
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (4-11) fell to the Phillies Red (10-5) at the Phillies DR Complex on Monday.
Jefferson Moran tossed four innings and surrendered two runs on six hits, one walk and two punchouts. The right-hander took his second loss. Jose Suriel was charged with a run in 2/3 of an inning on a hit, three walks and one strikeout.
With a 2-0 deficit in the fifth, Yordalin Pena tripled Elias Reynoso home but the Phillies answered with a run in the home half. In the ninth, Pena blasted a solo home run, his second of the year, to make the score 4-2.
Juan Severino pitched 2 1/3 innings and yielded an unearned run with three strikeouts. Kener Perez struck out two in a scoreless inning.
Pena was a double shy of the cycle with three hits and two RBI. Reynoso went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Every starter was on base at least once except Arfeni Batista, who struck out four times. The lineup altogether was punched out 16 times.
In the field, Severino, Batista and Daniel Rojas all committed errors.
