The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-3 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the day, Palm Beach 2B Cade McGee, crushed a home run and drove in three runs in Palm Beach’s win over Daytona. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Alex Cornwell, Zach Levenson, Won-Bin Cho, and Rainiel Rodriguez.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds edged the Bulls in a 3-2 win on Wednesday.
Starter Alex Cornwell pitched five innings, gave up two runs on three hits, fanned six, and walked one.
Andre Granillo relieved Cornwell and threw a scoreless sixth. Leonardo Taveras hurled two scoreless innings to earn the win. Gordon Graceffo tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a solo home run by Andy Yerzy.

Memphis added a run in the fifth to increase the lead to 2-0. Brody Moore hit a ground-rule double, and scored on a Michael Siani single.

Durham tied the game in the home half of the fifth. The Redbirds took the lead 3-2 in the eighth.
Nathan Church drew a walk and scored on a double by Luken Baker.

The Redbirds scored three runs on eight hits. Baker was 2-for-3, with two doubles and an RBI. Yerzy hit a solo home run. Siani singled and drove in a run.
On the bases, Siani stole his 11th base of the season. The Redbirds did not commit an error on defense.
Memphis is 42-33 overall, and 1-1 in the second half.
Thursday’s game: at Durham, Curtis Taylor RHP (4-1, 3.13) vs. TBD (DUR) 5:35 CT.
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were walloped by the Wind Surge in a 10-1 loss on Wednesday.
Starter Ixan Henderson pitched 3 ⅓ innings, gave up six runs on five hits, struck out one, and walked five. Henderson took the loss.
Sean Harney relieved Henderson and surrendered two runs across 2 ⅔ innings. Nathanael Heredia yielded two runs in the final two innings.
Wichita took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added a run to lead 2-0 in the second.
Springfield scored their only run of the game in the top of the third. R.J. Yeager doubled and scored on a single by JJ Wetherholt.
The Wind Surge increased their lead to 3-1 in the home half of the third. They put up a four run fourth to widen the lead to 7-1.
In the sixth, Wichita scored one run to expand the lead to 8-1 and scored two final runs in the eighth to land at 10-1 for the final score.
The Cardinals scored one run on two hits. Wetherholt walked, singled, and drove in the lone Cardinals run. Yeager doubled. No Cardinal had multiple hits. The offense was 1-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.
On defense, left fielder Noah Mendlinger had an outfield assist at home plate. Right fielder Joshua Baez had an outfield assist at second base.
Springfield is 43-28 overall, 0-2 in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: at Wichita, TBD (SPR) vs. C.J. Culpepper RHP (0-0, 1.35) 7:05 CT.
The High-A Peoria Chiefs fell to the Sky Carp in a 6-4 contest at Dozer Park on Wednesday.
Starter Cade Winquest pitched 2 ⅔ innings, gave up three runs on five hits, struck out five, and walked two.
Tyler Bradt relieved Winquest and threw 1 ⅓ scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Zack Showalter hurled a scoreless fifth. Michael Watson surrendered two runs in 1 ⅔ innings and took the loss. D.J. Carpenter pitched 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. Benjamin Arias allowed one run in the ninth.
Beloit went up 3-0 in the third inning. Peoria tied the game with a three run fourth.
Ian Petrutz walked, and Zach Levenson followed with a two-run home run.
Josh Kross was hit by a pitch. Graysen Tarlow singled. Tre Richardson grounded into a force out, with Tarlow out at second base on the play. Kross was caught stealing home. Richardson scored on a single by Chase Adkison.
The Sky Carp broke the tie with two runs in the top of the sixth to lead 6-3. The Chiefs added a run in the home half of the sixth to shrink the lead to 6-4.
Richardson singled and swiped second base. Adkison followed with a walk. Won-Bin Cho singled to load the bases. Richardson scored on a double play ball.
Peoria scored four runs on 10 hits. Cho was 3-for-4. Jon Jon Gazdar was 2-for-4. Tarlow was 2-for-5. Levenson drove in two on a two-run home run, the lone Chiefs extra-base hit. Richardson scored two runs.
On the bases, Richardson stole his seventh base of the season. Kross was caught stealing home. Michael Curialle was picked off first base.
On defense, pitcher Winquest picked a runner off second base.
Peoria is 27-43 overall, 1-4 in the second half, and is tied with Cedar Rapids and Wisconsin for last place in the Midwest League West.
Thursday’s game: vs. Beloit, Jason Savacool RHP (1-0, 2.79) vs. TBD (BEL) 6:35 CT.
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Daytona Tortugas in an 8-5 game on Wednesday.
Starter Braden Davis pitched four innings, gave up five runs on four hits, fanned six and walked four.
Christian Worley relieved Davis and threw two scoreless innings. Charles Harrison hurled two scoreless frames and earned the win. Mason Burns tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his third career save.
The Beach Birds went up 4-0 in the second inning.
Yordalin Pena singled. Jose Suarez was hit by a pitch. Sammy Hernandez singled to load the bases. Pena scored on a ground out by Anyelo Encarnacion, with Hernandez and Suarez to second base and third base, respectively, on the play. Jonathan Mejia plated Suarez and Hernandez on a triple.
Rainiel Rodriguez drove in Mejia on a double.
Daytona scored one run in the third, and posted a four-run fifth to take the lead 5-4.
Palm Beach scored a run in the seventh to tie the game at five. Deniel Ortiz walked and stole second base. Luis Pino singled to score Ortiz.
The Cardinals rallied for three runs in the ninth to take an 8-5 lead. Rodriguez and Ortiz took back-to-back walks, and Cade McGee followed with a three-run home run.
Palm Beach scored eight runs on eight hits. McGee was 2-for-5, including a three-run home run. Rodriguez was 2-for-3, with a double and an RBI. Mejia tallied a triple and two RBI. Ortiz scored two runs.
On the bases, McGee stole his 15th base of the season. Ortiz swiped his 17th bag. Encarnacion snagged his 13th base. Rodriguez was caught stealing.
Palm Beach is 33-37 overall, 1-4 in the second half, and tied for last place in the FSL East with Jupiter. They are four games back of St. Lucie.

FCL Cardinals 0, FCL Marlins 8 (seven innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were blanked by the Marlins in an 8-0 loss on Wednesday.
Starter Hunter Kublick pitched one scoreless, no-hit inning with two strikeouts in his first game of the season, coming off the injured list.
Ruben Menes relieved Kublick and surrendered four runs over four innings of relief. Edwin Nuñez yielded four runs across the final two innings. Menes took the loss.
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning. The Marlins posted a four-run frame to lead 4-0. They added three runs in the sixth, and one in the seventh to win 8-0.
The Cardinals’ offense managed only two hits. Both were from Bracewell Taveras, who doubled and singled.
The offense was 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.
On the bases, Taveras stole his fifth base of the season. Yancel Guerrero was picked off first base and caught stealing second base.
On defense, right fielder Andru Arthur nailed a runner at second base.
The Cardinals are 15-18 on the season and reside in fourth place in the Florida Complex League East, 5.5 games back of the FCL Astros.

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals were off on Wednesday, as they prepared for a road contest with the DSL Twins on Thursday.
The DSL Cardinals are 10-7 on the season.
