The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-2 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Chase Pinder, went 3-for-4 with a walk, one double, two runs and five RBI in the Redbirds’ win. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Nick Dunn, Jimmy Crooks and Osvaldo Tovalin.

The Memphis Redbirds (39-36) destroyed the Iowa Cubs (CHC, 43-30) on Sunday afternoon at Principal Park.
Dakota Hudson tossed six innings and surrendered six runs on nine hits and a walk. The right-hander fanned four and earned his fifth win of the season.
The Redbirds put up 11 runs in the first three innings. With the bases loaded in the first, Juniel Querecuto was hit by a pitch. Tres Barrera and Chase Pinder both walked. Errol Robinson tripled to plate three runs. Iowa answered with one run in the bottom half.
In the second, the Redbirds scored four more runs. Taylor Motter blasted a two-run home run, his sixth of the year. Pinder doubled and drove in two. Luken Baker hit a solo homer in the third, his 20th and highest in the International League.

Out of the bullpen, Jose Martinez pitched three scoreless frames with three walks and one punchout. The right-hander earned his first save.
Memphis added five more runs between the fifth and sixth innings. Masyn Winn plated one via sacrifice fly in the fifth. After a four-run Cubs home half, the Redbirds put up four runs in the sixth. Barrera singled to score one. Pinder added two runs and Richie Palacios singled to make the score 16-6.
Pinder went 3-for-4 with a walk, five RBI and two runs. Baker recorded a homer, a double, two runs and one RBI. Winn and Querecuto both had multi-hit games. The lineup collected 14 hits and eight walks.
On the base paths, Robinson stole his fifth bag of the year.
The Redbirds went 2-4 against the Cubs this week. They dropped to sixth place in the International League West.

The Springfield Cardinals (34-35) were defeated by the Frisco RoughRiders (TEX, 31-37) on Sunday night at Riders Field.
Kenny Hernandez went six innings and was touched for six runs. The left-hander yielded eight hits, a walk and six punchouts.
After the RoughRiders scored two runs in the first, the Cardinals put up six runs over the fourth through sixth innings. Chandler Redmond hit a two-run home run in the fourth, his 20th of the year. In the fifth, Nick Dunn singled to plate two. Pedro Pagés and Irving Lopez hit back-to-back blasts in the sixth to make the score 6-2.
In relief, Ryan Shreve took his second loss after he surrendered three runs on five hits and one walk. Andre Granillo faced one batter and struck him out. Frisco put up seven runs between the seventh and eighth innings to take a 9-6 lead. With the bases loaded in the ninth, Jacob Buchberger grounded into a double play and the game concluded.
Dunn went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI. Lopez and Jose Alvarez both recorded two hits. The lineup hit three home runs and left six runners on base.
In the field, Buchberger committed his eighth error of the season. Hernandez picked a runner off.
Springfield went 3-3 against the RoughRiders this week and sit one game below .500.

The Peoria Chiefs (3-0) topped the Quad Cities River Bandits (KC, 0-3) at Modern Woodmen Park on Sunday.
Starter Zane Mills was touched for five runs, three earned, on seven hits and no walks in 2 1/3 innings. The right-hander struck out one. Ian Bedell pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
In the second, Jimmy Crooks singled and Darlin Moquete blasted a two-run homer, his third of High-A. The River Bandits answered with five runs over the second and third innings.

Nathanael Heredia tossed a scoreless frame in relief. Gustavo Rodriguez earned his sixth win after he yielded one run in 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.
The Chiefs broke the tie in the ninth inning with three runs. With two men on, Crooks singled to plate one and Moquete added one via sac bunt. Tovalin doubled again to make the score 8-5. After Quad Cities brought one across in the ninth, they had the tying run at the plate but Rodriguez struck him out.
Crooks went 4-for-5 with a double, one RBI and three runs. Tovalin doubled twice and drove in four runs. Moquete walked once, brought in three runs and came across twice. Jeremy Rivas and Aaron McKeithan both had two hits. Peoria recorded 16 hits in the series finale.
Francisco Hernandez and Moquete both stole a base. Victor Scott II was caught stealing and Nathan Church was picked off. In the field, Thomas Francisco and Hernandez both committed errors.
The Chiefs went 5-1 against Quad Cities this week and are atop the Midwest League West in the second half.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (0-3) fell to the Daytona Tortugas (CIN, 3-0) on Sunday evening at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Starter Hancel Rincon pitched five innings and was charged with two runs on five hits and no walks. TCN’s no. 44 prospect took his fourth loss and fanned three. Joseph King yielded seven runs in 2/3 of an inning.
The Beach Birds scored their first run in the fifth inning after Won-Bin Cho drove home Lizandro Espinoza via single. In the eighth, Leonardo Bernal blasted a solo home run, his third of the season.
Augusto Calderon gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings on two solo shots. Henry Gomez surrendered a run in the eighth inning.
Cho, Bernal, Espinoza and Michael Curialle had the only hits for the Cardinals, all with one. Even with eight walks, Palm Beach went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
In his rehab assignment, José Fermín stole a bag. Cho took his 18th base of 2023. Alex Iadisernia committed a fielding error.
The Cardinals went 1-4 versus Daytona this week after a cancelation on Thursday. They are 0-3 in the second half.
