Cardinals Minor League Notebook – June 24, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day, the Palm Beach offense, scored 16 runs in a rout of Bradenton. The offense was led by Brayden Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI.  Alex Birge and Ryan Weingartner each totaled three RBI. Other standouts include Matt Koperniak, Leo Bernal, Ramon Mendoza, and Facundo Velásquez.

Memphis 8 at Jacksonville 3 (10 innings)

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in extra innings by the score of 8-3.

Starter Bruce Zimmerman pitched five innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked three, and struck out three.

Austin Love relieved Zimmerman and surrendered two runs in the sixth. Tink Hence threw a scoreless seventh. Luis Gastelum hurled a scoreless eighth. Hancel Rincon tossed the final two scoreless innings to earn his third win.

Jacksonville took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Memphis tied the game in the second. Leo Bernal singled, stole second base, and advanced to third on an error. Colton Ledbetter singled and Bernal scored.

The Jumbo Shrimp put up two runs in the sixth to take the lead 3-1. The Redbirds tied the game again in the seventh.

Bernal and Ramon Mendoza singled. Matt Koperniak doubled to score Bernal, with Mendoza to third base.

Mendoza came home on a sac fly by Jeremy Rivas.

The game stayed tied at three and went into extra innings. In the top of the 10th, Memphis posted a five-run frame to take the lead at 8-3.

Bligh Madris was the tiebreaker runner. Victor Scott moved Madris to third on a sac bunt. César Prieto was intentionally walked. Nolan Gorman singled to plate Madris.

Bernal singled home Prieto.

Gorman advanced to third base on an error and came home on a single by Mendoza.

Ledbetter was hit by a pitch. Koperniak singled to plate Bernal and Mendoza.

The offense scored eight runs on 11 hits. Koperniak was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Bernal was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Mendoza was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Bernal stole his sixth base of the season. Ledbetter swiped his 11th bag. Prieto snagged his third base.

Memphis is 1-0 in the second half and 48-28 overall.

Wednesday’s game: at Jacksonville, Hunter Dobbins RHP (4-0, 3.08) vs. Braxton Garrett LHP (2-2, 1.90) 11:05 am CT.

Springfield 3, NW Arkansas 6

The Double-A Cardinals fell to the Naturals in a 6-3 loss in Springfield on Tuesday. Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched six innings, gave up one run on three hits, walked two and fanned six. Despite the strong outing, Cijntje took the loss.

Michael Watson relieved Cijntje and surrendered two runs, one earned, in the seventh. Darlin Saladin yielded three runs in 2/3 innings. Nelfy Ynfante tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

NW Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. In the bottom of the second, the Cardinals looked to enter the run column.

Jesús Báez ripped a double on the first pitch he saw at the Double-A level, but was left on base.

Miguel Ugueto recorded a double on a nifty slide in the seventh, but was also left on base.

They added two runs in the eighth and three runs in the ninth to go ahead 6-0.

Springfield rallied in the bottom of the ninth to score three runs to cut the lead to 6-3. Deniel Ortiz walked. Jesús Báez singled. Won-Bin Cho walked to load the bags. Ortiz scored on a wild pitch. Jon Jon Gazdar plated Báez and Cho on a single.

The Cardinals scored three runs on six hits. Báez was 2-for-4 with a double in his Springfield debut. Gazdar had two RBI.

Travis Honeyman was caught stealing second base.

Pitcher Watson and shortstop Báez each made throwing errors.

Springfield is 0-1 in the second half and 31-38 overall.

Wednesday’s game: vs. NW Arkansas, Braden Davis LHP (0-3, 5.43) vs. TBD (NWA) 7:05 CT.

Peoria 1 at Beloit 2 (10 innings)

The High-A Chiefs were edged by the Sky Carp in a 2-1 extra inning loss on Tuesday.

Starter Blake Aita pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up one run on five hits, walked one and fanned six.

Nolan Sparks relieved Aita and threw 1/3 scoreless innings. Victor Santos, on a rehab assignment, threw a scoreless seventh. Jose Davila hurled a scoreless eighth. Patrick Galle tossed a scoreless ninth. Ruben Menes gave up the walk-off run in the 10th.

Peoria took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jack Gurevitch doubled and scored on a double by Jalin Flores.

Beloit tied the game in the fifth. The game stayed knotted at one and went into the 10th. The Chiefs failed to score the tiebreaker runner. The Sky Carp did not fail to score and walked-off the game 2-1.

The Chiefs scored one run on six hits. Gurevitch was 2-for-5 with a double. Jose Cordoba was 2-for-4. Flores doubled and drove in the team’s lone run. The offense was 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

Cordoba was picked off second base and caught stealing third base.

The Chiefs are 1-2 in the second half and 33-36 overall.

Wednesday’s game: at Beloit, Yhoiker Fajardo RHP (1-4, 3.53) vs. TBD (BEL) 6:35 CT.

Palm Beach 16, Bradenton 6

The Low-A Cardinals walloped the Marauders in a 16-6 rout at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday.

Starter Cooper Hjerpe, on a rehab assignment, pitched 2/3 innings, gave up four runs on three hits, walked one and struck out one.

Jesús García relieved Hjerpe and surrendered one run in 1/3 inning of relief. Cade Crossland allowed one unearned run in 4 1/3 innings and earned the win.

Liam Best threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Dylan Driessen tossed the final two scoreless innings.

Bradenton went up 5-0 in the top of the first inning. Palm Beach answered with two runs in the home half of the first to cut the lead to 5-2.

Sebastian Dos Santos singled and advanced to second on a balk.  Brayden Smith followed with a two-run home run, his fifth of the year.

The Beach Birds grabbed a 6-5 lead with a four-run fourth inning. Brayden Smith led-off the inning with his second home run of the game, a solo shot.

Matthew Miura walked. Ian Petrutz hit a two-run home run to tie the game at five apiece, as he works to rejoin Peoria.

Yordalin Peña tripled and scored on a double by Alex Birge to erase the 5-0 gap and move the Cardinals in front 6-5.

The Cardinals followed the fourth with an eight-run explosion in the fifth.

Miura walked and stole second base. Petrutz walked. Peña doubled to score Miura.

Birge plated Petrutz on a single. Trevor Haskins walked. Dos Santos doubled and Birge scored.

Ryan Mitchell walked. Weingartner drove in Haskins and Dos Santos on a single. Mitchell came home on a sac fly by Smith.

The Marauders added one run in the sixth to shrink the lead to 14-6. Palm Beach put up two final runs in the seventh to bring the final score to 16-6. Dos Santos walked. Mitchell walked. Smith singled to score Dos Santos. Mitchell scored on a single by Miura.

The Cardinals scored 16 runs on 14 hits. Smith was 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored. Birge was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Weingartner was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Peña was 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored. Dos Santos was 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored. Petrutz collected two RBI and scored twice. Mitchell and Miura each scored two runs.

Miura stole his 10th base of the season. Birge was caught stealing home. Miura and Mitchell were picked off first base.

Third baseman Weingartner made a throwing error. Pitcher Crossland made an error on a pickoff attempt.

The Cardinals are 3-1 in the second half and 36-34 overall.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Bradenton, Brian Holiday RHP (0-1, 4.24) vs. TBD (BRD) 5:30 CT.

FCL Cardinals 7, FCL Mets 4 (seven innings)

The Florida Complex League Cardinals beat the FCL Mets in a 7-4 seven-inning contest at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday.

Starter Keiverson Ramirez pitched one scoreless inning and allowed two hits.

Tyler Bradt, on a rehab assignment, relieved Ramirez and surrendered one run in 2/3 innings of relief and earned the win.

Jarol Báez threw 1/3 scoreless innings. Gabriel Chinchilla yielded three runs in the final five innings to earn his first save.

The Cardinals went up 3-0 in the first inning. Kenly Hunter and Royelny Strop walked. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. J.P. Cabrera reached on catcher interference to load the bases. Bracewell Taveras reached on a throwing error with Hunter and Strop scoring on the play for a 2-0 Cardinals lead. Facundo Velásquez doubled to plate Cabrera.

The Mets scored one run apiece in the second and third innings to cut the lead to 3-2. The Cardinals added one run in the fourth on a solo home run by Daniel Rojas to increase the lead to 4-2.

The Cardinals put up three runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-2. Hunter and Strop singled. Cabrera singled home Hunter.

Velásquez drove in Strop and Cabrera on a double.

The Mets rallied for two runs in the seventh for the final score of 7-4.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on seven hits. Velásquez was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. Hunter, Strop and Cabrera each scored two runs. Rojas hit a home run.

Cabrera stole his first base. Miguel Hernández was caught stealing second base.

Center fielder Hunter had an outfield assist at third base and another one at second base.

The Cardinals are 11-23 on the season.

Wednesday’s game: Off

DSL Cardinals 3 at DSL NYY Yankees 11

The Cardinals were routed by the Yankees in an 11-3 loss on Tuesday. Starter Juan García pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits, walked one and fanned four. García took the loss.

Jordan Beltrán relieved García and surrendered two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief. Ryan Rodríguez relinquished four runs without recording an out. Brayan Amoroso yielded two runs in 1/3 innings. Domingo Mejía tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

The Yankees took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and made it 3-0 in the third.

The Cardinals got on the board with two runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2. Michael Cordero and Misael Sánchez singled. Jesús Pérez reached on an error to load the bases. Hector Cabrera walked to plate Cordero. Sánchez came home on a double play from Lucas Takahashi.

The Yankees added one run in the fifth, one run in the sixth, and six runs in the seventh to go ahead 11-2. The Cardinals rallied for one run in the eighth to bring the score to 11-3. Christopher Vargas walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Vargas scored on a missed catch error.

The Cardinals scored three runs on six hits. Cordero was 2-for-4.

Pitcher García made an error on a pickoff attempt. Center fielder Takahashi had an outfield assist at third base.

The Cardinals are 9-8 on the season and are in second place in the DSL Southeast.
