The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL Cardinals third baseman Edward Guribe, was 2-for-4, including a double, a run scored, and two RBI. Other standouts include Miguel Hernandez, Kenly Hunter, and Yadiel Batista.

Memphis Redbirds (off-day)
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off on Monday, as they traveled to Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina, to begin the second half of the season with a six-game series against the Durham Bulls on Tuesday.
Nathan Church has excelled since his promotion to the Redbirds’ lineup on June 3. The 24-year-old outfielder has hit .426 with two doubles, three triples, two home runs, and eight RBI across 15 games. Church has drawn more walks (8) than strikeouts (6) during this stretch.
Infielder José Fermín was named the International League Player of the Week, and left-handed starting pitcher Quinn Mathews earned International League Pitcher of the Week honors. Fermín hit for a .550 batting average with six extra-base hits in five games against Norfolk last week.
Mathews tossed five shutout innings to earn his second win of the season.

Memphis finished the first half of the season with a 41-32 record, and a third-place finish in the International League West Division. The Redbirds enter the second half on Tuesday coming off a series split with Norfolk.

Springfield Cardinals (off-day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off on Monday, as they headed to Equity Bank Park in Wichita, Kansas, to begin the second half of the season with a six-game set against the Wichita Wind Surge.
The Cardinals enter play on Tuesday red-hot, as they wrapped up the first half of the season with an 11-1 homestand, and have won their last five contests, all over Corpus Christi.
Outfielder Joshua Baez was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week. The 21-year-old hit for a .500 batting average with three home runs and 10 RBI during the past week, leading the Texas League in each respective category.
Starting pitcher Tink Hence earned Texas League Pitcher of the Week honors. The right-hander started Springfield’s combined no-hitter with 4 ⅓ innings, and fanned eight batters in the game.

Springfield finished with a franchise-best 43-26 record, and were the Texas League North Division champions for the first half.

Peoria Chiefs (off-day)
The Peoria Chiefs were off on Monday, as they headed back home to Dozer Park to begin a six-game series with the Beloit Sky Carp on Tuesday.
The Chiefs enter Tuesday following a series loss to Great Lakes on the road, where they picked up just one win.
Jon Jon Gazdar leads the Chiefs with a .308 batting average, and collected a team-best 68 hits. The 23-year-old has also driven in 20 runs on the season.
On the mound, recently-promoted Jason Savacool has made two starts with Peoria, and sports a 1-0 record and a 2.79 ERA.
Peoria is 27-41 on the season, and 1-2 in the second half. They reside in third place in the Midwest League West to start the second half, and are one game back of first place.
Tuesday’s game: vs. Beloit (MIA). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM CT.
Palm Beach Cardinals (off-day)
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off on Monday, as they traveled to Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach, Florida, to begin a six-game set with the Daytona Tortugas on Tuesday.
Palm Beach enters play on Tuesday following a series split with the St. Lucie Mets. The Cardinals won the first three games of the series, and dropped the final three games.
On offense, infielder Cade McGee tallied eight RBI along with a home run across five games last week.
On the mound, Nolan Sparks pitched a career-high seven innings with five strikeouts against St. Lucie.
Palm Beach is 32-26 on the season, and 0-3 in the second half.
Tuesday’s game: at Daytona (CIN). Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 PM CT.
FCL Cardinals 2, FCL Marlins 5 (7 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals dropped a seven-inning home contest to the FCL Marlins on Monday.
Yadiel Batista started for the Cardinals. The left-hander pitched 4 ⅓ innings and allowed one run on two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts.
Samuel Fabian surrendered four runs, three earned, across two innings in relief of Batista. Edwin Nuñez recorded the final two outs of the seventh. Fabian took the loss.
The Cardinals scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Yoerny Junco and Yairo Padilla began the frame with back-to-back singles. Padilla was caught stealing second base, and Christian Martin was hit by a pitch in the second plate appearance of his rehab assignment, to put two runners back on base. Heriberto Caraballo singled home Junco for the first run of the game.
The Marlins tied the game at one apiece in the fourth. The Cardinals regained the lead in the fifth.
Junco walked, and moved to second base on a wild pitch to lead-off the inning. Junco advanced to third base on a Jose Cordoba flyout, and scored on a fielding error, with Martin reaching first base after putting the ball in play, for a 2-1 Cardinals lead.
The Marlins plated a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh innings. The Cardinals failed to respond.
The FCL Cardinals scored two runs on six hits. Junco was 2-for-2, with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Caraballo tallied the lone Cardinals RBI on a single. Bracewell Taveras singled twice. Martin and Cordoba both started the game, as they began their rehab assignment in working towards rejoining the Palm Beach Cardinals.
On the bases, Padilla was caught stealing second base.
On defense, second baseman Taveras made a throwing error. Pitcher Fabian committed a pickoff error. Catcher Caraballo picked a runner off second base.
The FCL Cardinals are 14-17 on the season. They reside in fourth place in the FCL East Division. The Cardinals will play a road contest with the FCL Nationals on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s game: at FCL Nationals. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.
DSL Cardinals 9, DSL White Sox 8 (7 innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals won a high-scoring seven-inning contest over the White Sox on Monday.
Juan Garcia made his first professional start in his third appearance for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits, no walks, and five strikeouts.
Briam Reyes yielded three runs across 1 ⅓ innings in relief of Garcia, and picked up his first professional win. Jesus Garcia tossed the final 1 ⅔ innings to collect his first career save.
After falling behind 5-0 in the third inning, the Cardinals narrowed the gap to three in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Yaxson Lucena hit a lead-off single, and scored on a Cristofer Lebron double.
Lebron took third base on a wild pitch, and Brayan Amoroso walked to put runners at the corners. Lebron touched home plate on a Hector Cabrera sacrifice fly for a 5-2 score.
The White Sox scored three runs in the fifth to take an 8-2 lead. The Cardinals erupted for a seven-run bottom of the fifth to take the lead.
Miguel Hernandez walked, and advanced to third base on a Juan Rujano double. Edward Guribe followed with a second-consecutive double to bring Hernandez and Rujano home to move the Cardinals within four runs.
Guribe moved to third base via a wild pitch. Amoroso reached base on a fielding error, with Guribe home on the play to put the Cardinals within three, at 8-5. Amoroso took second base on a wild pitch, and scored with a Cabrera double.
Kenly Hunter followed with a single to bring Cabrera to the plate to inch the Cardinals closer at 8-7. Hunter stole second base, and Royelny Strop was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base. Jesus Perez pinch-ran for Strop. Perez and Hunter took second base and third base, respectively, on the third wild pitch of the inning. In his second trip to the plate in the frame, Hernandez lined a single to score Hunter and Perez and put the Cardinals in front 9-8.
The Cardinals’ bullpen did not allow a run in the final two innings to secure the comeback win.
The DSL Cardinals scored nine runs on 10 hits. Guribe was 2-for-4, with a double, a run scored, and two RBI. Hernandez was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBI. Cabrera doubled, scored a run, and tallied two RBI. Lebron doubled, scored a run, and drove in one run. Hunter recorded two singles, a run scored, and an RBI.
On the bases, Hunter swiped two bags to increase his season total to 10.
On defense, second baseman Lebron committed a missed catch error.
The DSL Cardinals are 8-7 on the season, and reside in third place in the DSL Southeast Division. They will play two games with the DSL Rangers Red on Tuesday. The Cardinals will be the home team for game one, as it is the completion of the suspended contest from June 16. The game is slated to resume in the top of the fourth inning, with the Cardinals holding a 7-1 lead. The Cardinals will be the road team in the second game.
Tuesday’s games: vs. DSL Rangers Red. Pitching probables have not yet been announced for either game. Game one is scheduled to begin play at 9:00 AM CT. Game two is slated for 10:00 AM CT, or shortly after the conclusion of game one.
