The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-0 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 2B José Fermín, went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Other standouts include Nathan Church, Quinn Mathews, Ixan Henderson, Trey Paige, and Sammy Hernandez.

The Triple-A Redbirds defeated the Tides by a 10-7 score at AutoZone Park on Wednesday.
Starter Quinn Mathews pitched five scoreless innings, allowed one hit, fanned six and walked two to earn his second win.

Ryan Fernandez relieved Mathews and threw a scoreless sixth. Chris Roycroft surrendered one run in the seventh. Zach Weiss yielded five runs in 1/3 of an inning. Leonardo Taveras allowed one run in the final 1 2/3 innings.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Bryan Torres and Nathan Church walked. José Fermín grounded into a double play, eliminating Church. César Prieto doubled to score Torres.
The Redbirds increased their lead to 6-0 in the fourth. Andy Yerzy walked. Brody Moore singled. Torres walked. Church hit a grand slam to right center field. Fermín thumped a solo home run.

Memphis added four runs in the fifth to lead 10-0. Yerzy walked. Moore reached on an error. Torres singled. Church walked and Yerzy came home. Fermín plated Moore and Torres on a double. Prieto drove in Church on a sac fly.
Norfolk finally got on the board with one run in the seventh. They added five runs in the eighth and one run in the ninth for the final score of 10-7.
The Memphis offense scored 10 runs on 10 hits. Fermín was 4-for-5 with three RBI. Church had five RBI and two runs scored. Prieto had two RBI. Torres scored three runs. Yerzy and Moore both scored two runs.
On defense, Yerzy had a passed ball.
Memphis is 39-30 on the season and is in third place in the International League West, two games behind co-leaders Indianapolis (PIT) and Nashville (MIL).

Springfield 7, Corpus Christi 2
Inching closer to the first-half title, the Double-A Cardinals beat the Hooks by the score of 7-2 at Hammons Field on Wednesday.
Starter Ixan Henderson pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on five hits, fanned seven and walked one.

Jack Ralston relieved Henderson and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Luis Gastelum tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
Corpus Christi took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Springfield scored one run in the fifth. Trey Paige singled and stole second base. Carlos Linarez singled and Paige came home.
The Cardinals took the lead at 4-2 in the sixth. Joshua Baez thumped a solo home run. Jeremy Rivas singled and Paige followed with a two-run home run.

Springfield added to the lead with a three-run seventh. Linarez and JJ Wetherholt singled. Ramon Mendoza reached on an error. Linarez came home on a balk. Chase Davis grounded out and Wetherholt scored. Baez plated Mendoza on a single.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on nine hits. Paige was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Baez was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Linarez was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the bases, Paige stole his second base with Springfield. On defense, Linarez picked a runner off third base.
Springfield is 39-26 on the season and is in first place in the Texas League North. The Cardinals’ magic number is one with four games remaining in the first half.

Peoria at Great Lakes (canceled)
The Chiefs’ Wednesday game at Great Lakes was canceled due to inclement weather. Due to the schedule, the game will not be made up. The two clubs will play as planned on Thursday in their first half finale.
Peoria is 26-38 on the season and is in fifth place in the High-A Midwest League West, 12.5 games back of Quad Cities.
Thursday’s game: at Great Lakes, Cade Winquest RHP (1-4, 4.10) vs. Luke Fox LHP (3-3, 3.33) 6:05 CT.
The Low-A Cardinals edged the Mets on the road by a 5-4 score on Wednesday.
Starter Brandt Thompson pitched six innings, gave up three runs on three hits, and struck out three.
Yordy Herrera relieved Thompson and surrendered one run in two innings. Mason Burns tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.
The Beach Birds went up 1-0 in the top of the third inning. Sammy Hernandez doubled. Anyelo Encarnacion singled. Encarnacion stole second base and Hernandez scored on a throwing error.
St. Lucie tied the game in the home third.
Palm Beach scored two runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead 3-1. Jose Suarez singled and stole second base. Hernandez singled to score Suarez. Hernandez stole third base and came home on an error.
The Mets tied the game again in the home fourth.
In the top of the eighth, the Cardinals added two runs to lead 5-3. Yordalin Pena reached on an error. Suarez was hit by a pitch. Hernandez laid down a sac bunt. Pena came home on a ground out by Encarnacion. Suarez scored on an error.
St. Lucie put up one run in the bottom of the eighth to cut the lead to 5-4.
Palm Beach scored five runs on six hits. Hernandez was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Encarnacion was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Suarez scored two runs.
On the bases, Deniel Ortiz stole his 15th. Encarnacion swiped two bags. Suarez stole his sixth base. Hernandez swiped his sixth base. Cade McGee stole his 13th base.
Palm Beach is 31-33 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, three games behind first-half champion St. Lucie.
Thursday’s game: vs. St. Lucie, LHP Braden Davis (1-1, 2.96) vs. Channing Austin RHP (2-2, 4.10) 5:10 CT.
FCL Cardinals – Off day
The Florida Complex League Cardinals are 12-16 on the season and are in fourth place in the East Division, 5.5 games back of the FCL Nationals.

DSL Cardinals – Off day
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals are 6-5 on the season. They are in third place in the Southeast Division, just a half-game behind co-leaders Colorado and Phillies Red.
