The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-5 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria 1B Josh Kross, was 3-for-5 with four RBI. Other standouts include Thomas Saggese, Noah Mendlinger, Ryan Campos, Sammy Hernandez and Facundo Velasquez.

The Triple-A Redbirds lost to the Tides in a 7-5 series opener on Tuesday at AutoZone Park. Starter Tekoah Roby allowed two runs in the fourth and ran out of gas in the sixth. In his second Memphis start, the prospect pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up six runs on five hits, struck out four and walked two. Roby took the loss.
Matt Svanson relieved Roby and surrendered one unearned run in 1 1/3 innings. Gordon Graceffo tossed the final two scoreless innings.
Memphis took a 4-0 lead in the second inning. José Fermín hit a solo home run. Mike Antico and Michael Siani singled. Red-hot Thomas Saggese blasted a three-run home run.

Norfolk cut the lead to 4-2 in the fourth before putting up a five-run sixth to lead 7-4.
The Redbirds rallied for one run in the ninth to bring the final score to 7-5. Fermín doubled and came home on a double by César Prieto.
Memphis scored five runs on eight hits. Saggese was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Fermín was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
On the bases, Antico stole his 11th base of the season. On defense, Luken Baker made a throwing error. Nathan Church had a fielding miscue. Jimmy Crooks had a passed ball.
Memphis is 38-30 on the season and is in third place in the International League West, three games behind Nashville.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Norfolk, Quinn Mathews LHP (1-2, 4.71) vs. Cameron Weston RHP (1-3, 4.17) 12:05 CT.
Springfield 4, Corpus Christi 8
The Double-A Cardinals fell to the Hooks by the score of 8-4 on Tuesday at Hammons Field. Starter Brycen Mautz pitched four innings, gave up eight runs on eight hits, struck out four and walked two. Mautz took the loss.
Ricardo Velez relieved Mautz and threw three scoreless innings on one hit with five strikeouts. Andrew Marrero hurled a scoreless eighth. Nathanael Heredia tossed a scoreless ninth.

Corpus Christi went up 5-0 in the second inning and added three runs in the third to lead 8-0.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the home third to cut the lead to 8-2. JJ Wetherholt reached on an error. Leonardo Bernal doubled and Wetherholt scored. Chase Davis singled. Bernal came home on a force out by Joshua Baez.
Springfield added two runs in the fourth to shrink the lead to 8-4. Dakota Harris walked and stole second base. R.J. Yeager followed with a two-run home run.

The Cardinals scored four runs on eight hits. Noah Mendlinger was 3-for-5. Yeager had two RBI.
On the bases, Joshua Baez stole his fifth base since joining Springfield and 25th overall. Harris swiped his seventh bag. On defense, Marrero made an error on a pickoff.
Springfield is 38-26 on the season and is in first place in the Texas League North by three games with five to play.

The High-A Chiefs were edged by the Loons in an 8-7 back-and-forth game on Tuesday.
Starter Gerardo Salas pitched four innings, gave up four runs on six hits, fanned five and walked two. Darlin Saladin relieved and also surrendered four runs in four innings.
Great Lakes went up 3-0 in the first inning. Peoria scored two runs in the top of the second to cut the lead to 3-2. Ryan Campos walked. Josh Kross followed with a two-run home run.

The Loons scored one run in the home second to increase the lead to 4-2. The Chiefs put up three runs in the third to take a 5-4 lead. Travis Honeyman was hit by a pitch. Ian Petrutz walked. Campos doubled to plate Honeyman and Petrutz. Campos came home on a single by Kross.

In the sixth, Great Lakes tied the game at 5-5. Peoria answered with two runs in the seventh to lead 7-5. Honeyman walked. Petrutz doubled. Kross drove in Honeyman on a single. Miguel Villarroel walked. Zach Levenson walked and Petrutz scored.
The Loons came back with three runs in the eighth to regain the lead 8-7.
The Chiefs scored seven runs on eight hits. Kross was 3-for-5 with four RBI. Campos was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
On the bases, Levenson stole his sixth base. Campos was caught stealing. On defense, Campos picked a runner off first base and had a passed ball.
Peoria is 26-38 on the season and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 12.5 games back of Quad Cities.

The Class-A Cardinals pounded the first half division champion Mets by an 11-4 margin on Tuesday. Starter Leonel Sequera pitched five innings, gave up two runs on five hits, struck out two and walked two to earn his second win.
Ernie Day relieved Sequera and threw a scoreless sixth. Christian Worley surrendered two runs in 1/3 of an inning. Randel Clemente tossed the final 2 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his fourth save.
The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Beach Birds put up two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead. Yordalin Pena doubled. Anyelo Encarnacion reached on a fielder’s choice. Sammy Hernandez singled and Pena scored. Encarnacion came home on a passed ball.
St. Lucie tied the game in the home fifth. Palm Beach took a big lead in the sixth with seven runs scored. Deniel Ortiz singled. Cade McGee followed with a two-run home run. Pena doubled. Encarnacion singled. Hernandez plated Pena and Encarnacion on a single. Hernandez stole second base. Bryce Madron drove in Hernandez on a double. Matt Lloyd, on a rehab assignment from Memphis, hit a two-run home run.
The Mets cut the lead to 9-4 in the seventh. The Cardinals added two runs in the ninth to win 11-4. Ortiz walked and scored on a two-run home run by Luis Pino.
The offense scored 11 runs on 12 hits. Hernandez was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Pena and Ortiz were 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Encarnacion scored two runs. Lloyd, Pino and McGee each had two RBI.
On the bases, Ortiz stole his 14th base of the season. Hernandez swiped his fifth bag. Pena stole his 11th base.
Palm Beach is 30-33 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, 4 games back of St. Lucie.

FCL Cardinals 0, FCL Mets 2 (seven innings)
The rookie Cardinals were blanked by the Mets by a 2-0 score on Tuesday.
Starter Bernard Mack pitched four scoreless innings, allowed one hit, fanned seven and walked four.
In his first FCL appearance since being sent down from Springfield, Edwin Nuñez threw a scoreless inning of relief. Andrew Bolivar surrendered two runs in the final two innings and took the loss.
The game was scoreless until the Mets put up two runs in the seventh. The Cardinals were unable to respond.
The Cardinals offense scattered six hits and drew just one walk. Facundo Velasquez was 3-for-3. They were 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
On the bases, Velasquez was caught stealing. Andru Arthur was picked off first base. On defense, Paulo Asprilla made an error on a pickoff. He also picked a runner off first base.
The Cardinals are 12-16 on the season and are in fourth place in the Florida Complex League East, 5.5 games back of the FCL Nationals.

DSL Cardinals 4 at DSL Nationals 5
The Dominican Cardinals were edged by the Nationals in a 5-4 road game on Tuesday. Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched four innings, gave up three runs on six hits, fanned six and walked one.
Brailyn Paulino relieved Chinchilla and threw a scoreless inning. Ryan Rodriguez surrendered one run in the sixth and took the loss. Beiker Rodriguez hurled a scoreless seventh. Ricardo Fernandez tossed a scoreless eighth.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Kenly Hunter singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. Miguel Hernandez was hit by a pitch. Cristofer Lebron singled and Hunter scored.
The Nationals put up three runs in the second to take the lead 3-1. The Cardinals added two runs in the fourth to tie the game. Juan Pablo Cabrera and Sebastian Dos Santos singled. Hunter reached on an error, scoring Cabrera and Dos Santos.
The Nationals regained the lead with one run in the fifth. The Cardinals tied the game again at 4-4 with a run in the top of the sixth. Cabrera doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Dos Santos plated Cabrera on a single.
The Nationals put up one run in the home sixth to lead 5-4.
The Cardinals scored four runs on eight hits. Dos Santos was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cabrera was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
On the bases, Lebron stole his second base of the season. On defense, Cabrera made a throwing error.
The DSL Cardinals are 6-5 on the season.
