The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-5 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria’s Hancel Rincón, threw six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Other standouts include Max Rajcic, Dakota Harris, Leonardo Bernal, Tre Richardson and Yordalin Pena.

The Triple-A Redbirds absorbed a seven-run road loss to the Tides on Friday. Stater Zack Thompson pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up seven runs, six earned, on six hits including two home runs. The lefty struck out seven and walked one while taking the loss, his second.
Brandon Komar surrendered one unearned run in 2 1/3 innings of relief. Victor Santos yielded one run in the seventh. Andre Granillo tossed a scoreless eighth.
Norfolk took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added seven runs in the fourth and one in the seventh to lead 9-0.
Memphis finally got on the board in the ninth, scoring two runs. César Prieto singled and came hone on a single by Alfonso Rivas. Nick Dunn plated Rivas on a bloop double.
The Redbirds scored two runs on seven hits. Leadoff man Matt Koperniak was 2-for-4.
On defense, second baseman Prieto, left fielder Rivas, and third baseman Thomas Saggese each made a fielding error.
Memphis 35-32 on the season and is in fourth place in the International League West, 10.5 games back of Omaha.

The Double-A Cardinals were blanked by the Naturals by a 4-0 score at Hammons Field on Friday. Starter Max Rajcic pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up one run on four hits, struck out five and walked three. Rajcic took the tough luck loss, his fifth of the season.

Ryan Shreve threw 2/3 of a scoreless inning of relief. Rehabber Giovanny Gallegos surrendered three runs in the eighth. Matt Svanson tossed a scoreless ninth.
The game was scoreless until NW Arkansas scored a run in the sixth. The Naturals added three runs in the eighth to increase the lead to 4-0.
Springfield was held scoreless and scattered four hits, all singles. Bryan Torres was 2-for-3. The offense 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
On the bases, Torres stole his 16th bag. On defense, Jacob Buchberger made a throwing error. R.J. Yeager had a fielding miscue. Jimmy Crooks picked a runner off first base.

Springfield is 33-28 on the season and is tied with Arkansas for first place in the Texas League North.

Peoria 9, South Bend 6 (completion of suspended game)
The High-A Chiefs defeated the Cubs in the first game of a twin bill at Dozer Park that was the completion of a suspended game from Thursday night. Starter Pete Hansen pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up one run on two hits and struck out two.
Cade Winquest took over on Friday and surrendered three runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Zane Mills yielded two runs in two innings pitched for his fourth win of the season. Nathanael Heredia threw 2/3 of a scoreless inning. Osvaldo Berrios tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save.
The Chiefs went up 3-0 in the first inning. Won-Bin Cho drew a walk and Brody Moore singled. Leonardo Bernal doubled to plate Cho and Moore. Bernal scored on a single by Alex Iadisernia.
The Cubs came back in the top of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. Peoria answered in the home half of the fourth to tie at 4-4. Iadisernia doubled and scored on a single by Dakota Harris.
The Chiefs regained the lead in the sixth on a solo home run by Bernal. Peoria added three runs in the seventh to increase the lead to 8-4. Harris hit a solo home run. William Sullivan walked. Darlin Moquete pinch ran for Sullivan. Zach Levenson drove in Moquete on a double. Levenson came home on a single by Cho.

South Bend rallied for two runs in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 8-6. The Chiefs put up one run in the bottom of the eighth for the 9-6 final.
The offense scored nine runs on 10 hits. Harris was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Bernal was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Iadisernia was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the bases, Chris Rotondo stole his second base of the season. Iadisernia and Harris were both caught stealing.
On defense, Rotondo had an outfield assist at second base. Bernal picked a runner off second base.
Peoria 9, South Bend 2 (seven innings, Game two)
The Chiefs were the victors in the second, regularly scheduled game of the twin bill, again scoring nine runs to defeat the Cubs at Dozer Park. Starter Hancel Rincón pitched six scoreless innings, allowed two hits, struck out seven and walked one to earn the win.

Roy Garcia relieved Rincón and surrendered two unearned runs in the seventh.
The Chiefs took a 4-0 lead in the first inning as the Cubs issued seven walks. Zach Levenson drew a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Darlin Moquete and Brody Moore walked to load the bases. Alex Iadisernia walked and Levenson scored. Moquete scored on a free pass taken by Dakota Harris. Tre Richardson walked to plate Moore. Iadisernia came home on a walk by Graysen Tarlow.
Solo home runs by Moquete and Harris in the second increased the Chiefs lead to 6-0. Two more runs came home in the third. Richardson singled. Michael Curialle was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Zach Levenson walked. Moquete grounded into a force out. Richardson scored. Curialle came home on a single by Moore.
The Chiefs put up a ninth and final run in the fourth. Joshuan Baez reached on catcher’s interference and later came home on a Richardson single.
South Bend finally got on the board with two runs in the seventh.
Peoria scored nine runs on five hits. Richardson was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Harris and Moquete each plated two.
Winners of eight of their last 10, 24-37 Peoria remains in last place in the Midwest League West, 14 games back of Wisconsin.
Saturday’s game: vs. South Bend, Brycen Mautz LHP (0-7, 5.71) vs. Nick Dean RHP (3-0, 1.42) 7:05 CT.
The Low-A Cardinals lost to the Tortugas by the score of 4-1 at Daytona on Friday. Starter Jose Davila pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on four hits, struck out three and walked five. Davila took the loss, his fourth of the season.
Augusto Calderon relieved Davila and surrendered one run in 2 2/3 innings.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Daytona posted three runs.
The Beach Birds scored their only run of the game in the seventh. Trey Paige singled and later came home on a single by Miguel Villarroel.
The Tortugas scored again in the eighth for the final score of 4-1.
On the bases, Adari Grant was caught stealing. On defense, Chase Adkison made a throwing error, picked a runner off third base and had a passed ball.
Palm Beach is 33-28 on the season and is in second place in the FSL East, 0.5 games back of Jupiter.
Saturday’s game: at Daytona, TBD (PB) vs. Nick Payero RHP (0-0, 3.29) 5.35 CT.
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were edged by the Mets in a 6-5 road contest on Friday. Starter Nelfy Ynfante pitched three innings, gave up one run on three hits, struck out four and walked three.
Ronny Oliver surrendered five runs in three innings of relief. Samuel Fabian threw a scoreless seventh. Randel Clemente tossed a scoreless eighth.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first. Jonathan Mejia singled and Anyelo Encarnacion walked. Mejia and Encarnacion stole third and second base, respectively. Jose Suarez plated Mejia on a ground out.
The Mets tied the game in the third, then added four in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.
The Cardinals began playing catch up with two in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-3. Luis Pino drew a walk. Heriberto Caraballo hit a two-run home run to left field. In the eighth, Yordalin Pena blasted a two-run home run to shrink the lead to 6-5.
The Cardinals offense scored five runs on six hits. Pena was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Caraballo was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
On the bases, Mejia stole his sixth base of the season. Encarnacion swiped his fourth bag. Pena was caught stealing.
The Cardinals are 12-17 on the season and are in last place in the FCL East, 8.5 games back of the Marlins.

DSL Cardinals 2, DSL Arizona Red 4 (10 innings)
The Dominican Cardinals fell to the Arizona Red in a 4-2 10-inning loss on Friday. Starter Branneli Franco pitched three innings, gave up one run two hits, struck out two and walked three.
Reiner Lopez threw a scoreless inning of relief. Justin Hernandez hurled a scoreless fifth. Brailyn Paulino tossed two scoreless innings. Giovanni Vargas surrendered one run in 1 2/3 innings. Bernard Mack yielded two unearned runs in the final 1 1/3 innings and took the loss.
Arizona took a 1-0 lead I the first inning. The Cardinals tied the game in the fourth. Edward Guribe doubled and scored on a single by Yaxson Lucena
The Cardinals went up 2-1 in the eighth. Andru Arthur doubled and came home on a single by Raniel Rodriguez. Arizona tied the game at 2-2 in the ninth.
In the 10th Arizona put up two unanswered runs to win the game 4-2.
The Cardinals scored two runs on eight hits. Arthur was 2-for-4. Guribe was 2-for-3.
On the bases, Lucena stole his first base of the season. Arthur was caught stealing. Fernando Roquez was picked off first base.
On defense, Roquez had a missed catch error. Cristopher Lebron made a throwing error. Rodriguez had a passed ball.
The Cardinals are 3-5 on the season.
